  1. Think I am going to do this.Found this turbo - its a reman off a FEDEX truck.I am 99% sure its a HX35WJust wanna see if anyone knows if it will fit -> looks like it might be missing the part from the exhaust turbine back to the downpipe ???? If so - does it have a name and where can I get one - or can I used my existing one ?? :shrug:Basically will this work.
  2. Got the +75's in ...... nice Enough power to notice - will have to see what happens on cruise trips for MPG. Found a couple guys installing injectors without doing anything but loosening injectors lines at head - prying connector tubes 1/4" out and replacing injector 1x at a time being careful. Saves SOOO much effort. Going to try it sometime. Good to know. Now just need a HX35 ........... --- Update to the previous post... Whats your wrench look like - and how do you get it onto the middle line at vp44 end (of each set of 3) and have enough room to turn. With my stubby - I can just get it on - but I have to flex the other lines (already off) of the 3 part set in order to turn it. It was worse going back on. Was thinking about shaving down the outer curve of my wrench to give me a few more mm on each side clearance.
  3. 2.2 lb to kilo Its rated for 14k kgs tho right - 30000 lbs. But if its empty - then its only towing 5000-7000 lbs and pretty low drag resistance ?? Didn;t catch if he towed anything back apart from an attachment - so what was final weight ?? Was it 3.5 hours of mainly empty ?
  4. oh - well that does suck a little bit
  5. dunno - would think it would be ok but I wonder if you can get some sort of warranty that 1) It will pass a compression test at your end2) Any leaks/issues that are tracked down to the block within 6 mths / 24k miles or something is warrantied for repair/replacement or refund. just a thought ..
  6. Lost - what kinda of trailer - an empty one ??? But rated for 14000 ?? I have been all over this on 3 forums. A loaded RV/TT will get 10-14 mpg on a 24v. Generally 12-13. Anyone that said different pretty much didn;t sound like they knew what they were talking about. Obviously there is some variation if what your towing is not a RV/TT and doens;t weigh 7500-12000 lbs. Individual truck styles also vary - different gears , chips, injectors, transmissions, HP. Unless it was empty - 11.6 sounds ok to me.
  7. Ha ! - yeah I don't remember the vp44 end being that hard last time
  8. YeahFunny enough the only real issues I had was with the VP44 end.The sets of 3 lines 1,2,4 and 3,5,6The middle bolt is hard to get to as its blocked off by other two on each side - so I found it real hard to get anything on it to tighten/loosten. I was using a stubby wrench - but still not enough clearance - must be a better way ???
  9. ok - got the new ones in late last night - took much longer than without ISX here - ha !! Plus I forgot to torque down 1,2,4 on reinstall and then I was like - wtf - with the leaky fuel. Looks dry now.So a couple questions1) How would you know about fuel leak inside - would simply removing valve cover and starting be enough ?? Would it sound really heavy 'miss' ? 2) Ever heard of removing injectors without removing the lines. I heard of one go going straight in via the valve colver - with just loosened lines. Guessing he had enough flex to pull the crossover tubes 1/4" or so to get out and get in the injectors - that would save o much time if you could :)3) What do you use for torquing and removing the VP44 connections. I had a hell of a time with the 2 middle bolts as they are so close to the other 2 injectors. Ended up using a crowsfoot but not much better - this was way worse than #6 for me
  10. Here's one http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-2nd-gen-all-products/342849-2001-24v-engine-parts-look.html amd $100 shipped http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-2nd-gen-all-products/332809-2nd-gen-24v-exhaust-manifold.html
  11. Someone picked up 7 gallons of methanol today . $2.20 gallon. Will have her tested tomorrow morning .......... still need a bit of tuning on my injectors I think ....... but going to wait until I get my +75's in which just arrived today. Then if it all works out .......... get me one of these for the RV as well as my silver bullet. http://www.a1-water-distiller.com/
  12. Whats the deal with freightliner and cummins ??? Heard that a couple times but never asked --> as long as you give them engine number they don't check what vehicle its out of and you can get the parts cheaper ?? burb31 - heard of guys patching the manifold if the crack is small enough ......... but you can find them on CF from $50-$100. Shipping may hurt though so then that freightliner deal would be cool.
  13. Yeah just posting for reference and idea of cost. I'd always love to find root cause of issue -> but especially with electronics I'd be stuffed unless I drove it to your house hahahhaha
  14. http://www.trnw.net/z-store/glaenzer.html
  15. Well the man below (jacob) will look after you - both on new and used where he has them. He has good prices too. You can also look on forums - I got mine from CumminsForum. Sometimes there are units here as well Ask around before you buy - I really like my juice. Others really like QUAD. There are others still - smarty/tst etc. Some come with gauges for monitoring core temps - tranny/egt and boost/fuel pressure etc And make sure your transmission can hold the power :banghead:
  16. Sorry Joe :banghead: Think I am in for a new tranny - so I will be right behind you - $12-13k in 12 mths (including fixes and mods) Lets get drunk together ....................................... Hope something works out for ya man
  17. Dunno. DG/DTT/Suncoast etc all reputable - but they all use the same parts as other tranny stores. HD frictions, Kolene steels, gaskets, seals, sealing rings, billet intermediate band, billet strut and anchor, aluminum 4 ring accumulator piston and 5:1 ratio lever, etc. So you get what comes in a $500-$700 kit for the price of $3500-$4000. But you get a great install and a great warranty. So I get that. Speak with Cat - he tows all the time - 900k miles. Now I believe he has 300k miles on his Revmax Torque Convertor and similar miles on his $1200 build from a LA tranny shop. So for $2000 he has the same tranny as the $3500-$4000 goerand. He'd have to spend another $1500-$2000 before he was out of pocket. just a thought.
  18. http://revmaxconverters.com/about/shop/47re-stage-3-torque-converter Billet TC - 850 ft lbs torque - $399 http://revmaxconverters.com/about/shop/47re-b-towing-hd-valve-body Towing/HD valve body $349 Thats $750 - and probably good for our trucks with a high end chip (quad/edge/tst) ~350HP. It may slip if you fully romp on it - but then you can go up from there. --- Update to the previous post... Oh - and you can save another $250 if you wanna do the VB work yourself. Its really just this. http://compare.ebay.com/like/260112093302?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&rvr_id=176449365032&crlp=1_263602_304662&UA=L*F%3F&GUID=956c3fe912c0a02684525252ffe59436&itemid=260112093302&ff4=263602_304662 So $400 for TC and $100 for shift kit - means $500 it can be done
  19. ok - ALL done Looks like around 100 degree reduction (@850 EGT) in EGT with H20. Couldn't do much testing as I busted the clamp on the intakehorn - so was worried about building too much boost once I noticed it started to slip a little on my return trip. So will get some methanol - and post some figures soon. Side question - where do I get the metal band clamp on the bottom of the intakehorn ??? Anyone got a part# ?? thanks --- Update to the previous post... FOUND IT http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=BK_7051526_0282399597 and lookie lookie in AZ http://www.speedwayracefuels.com/products/methanol.html
  20. And ISX has a electrical guage ....... hahahahahahahaha (**footnote - its for EGT's - but it still sounded funny)
  21. man that guy is nice/helpful. I got a msg back everytime within 24 hours ......... and even an invoice PDF this morning .........
  22. Yikes I'll say - let us know about that one
  23. Haha - me - complain ??? --- Update to the previous post... Yeah I sold my RV275's and chaned into some +75's. Think that will be a good balance with water cooling and HX35. (Just gotta find one now). You getting some ?
  24. Dunno.Sounds like my truck when I was stock. I had power - but always had to downshift on small grades.I added by 3x disk and my edge (tapped) and barely had to downshift on small grades. Just had higher EGT's.I would "think" with the extra HP -> you would find the smae - less downshift ..................... ask CAT - he'd know best given he tried it all.
