  1. --update-- well got the truck back. New bilstein 5100's all around, thuren front coils and new ball joints Generally the truck rides smoother - especially over holes/bumps - and I like the small gain in the lift in the front end. From a suspension point of view - would say its around a 10%-15% better in general riding. 20% better over harsher roads etc. So - not sure - I think I probably would have just put in the ball joints and left it at that OR looked into the rear end with the airbag like coyote in retrospect. Not unhappy - just don't think was best bang for $$buck$$. john:thumbup2:
  2. schweet - thats perfect - are these key lockable ? They only say latch lock - and I can't tell by the pics.I wanna store by truck gear in there - tools etc so I can stop trashing my back seat and running out of room in my RV. Nothing hugely expensive but would prefer them to be lockable from stupid kids etc where they have to make a little noise to get into it.
  3. Any ideas on good places to buy ? Best so far http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310197315794&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT#ht_3957wt_1167 this if it fits http://www.lowes.com/pd_183130-76354-73014003_0_?productId=1052305&Ntt=truck+toolbox&Ntk=i_products&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?newSearch=true$Ntt=truck%20toolbox$y=0$x=0
  4. Just be careful - I had bucking in my truck above certain speeds and it was due to a restriction in the 'out' line from the fuel tank. It was pinhced off. I my case it ruined my vp44 - but I had the death code p0216. etc I would say check your lines and flow/volume first before throwing $1000k at something. Cause if you do have a restricted line - guess what - you'll kill the new one.
  5. doh thats a good point. I was thinking the draw straw is pretty much usually at bootom of tank. But yeah with enough space and fuel moving. Then the extra pressure (spring) will be no use.

  7. Not sure - but you may be able to bump up the pressure at the low end and the hi end via the regulator spring. Page 25 (section9) of the link below http://www.injectorwarehouse.com/diesel/dodgecummins_diesel_airdog/install-manual-original-98-04.pdf See if bringing it up to 20 or so raises your low end when driving 1/4 full.
  8. Man you should do it and write it up that would be interesting before and after - heaps of pics !!

I am still thining of adding a posi-lok to the girl ...... only cause my actuator/CAD thing is a bit hit an miss - think its just the actuator that sits on the vacuum line on transfer case. Still - once I add the tranny cooler - not sure how much 4x4 I will be doing - still if she can handle the soft sand ok even with the tires down a little - then I can access a few places and not worry too much aprt from carrying a spare and compressor Just seems a shame to have a 4x4 and not use it all that often : )

You have dry sand in Idaho ? I thought it was basically potato crops or icy mountains - Yeah - thats kinda what I thought - but they have some chevy's out there doing it ...... although sometimes it takes 3 of them in a chain to pull the last one out Get my truck back this week ........ hope she's all good Then I gotta get my tranny cooler bracketed/welded in sometime in next couple weeks and connect it up Clean her down and polish (bought a HD orbital polisher) Respray the front cattle/bullbar Replace front bumper(plastic) Clean interior (wet/dry vac) And then we are on the road - everglades(FL) and new orleans in OCT ...... then start making our way WEST ISX we need to catch up Beer.

I thought he was gone - for sure ................. like to see the attempted insurance claim on that one the sea- it just came out of nowhere and "got me" In an attempt to put on a little thread-related I'll ask a q Any1 ever taken their cummins 4x4 in pure sand ?? Like beach ?? I have only ever taken light 4x4's on sand backm in australia - like jeeps and rav4's - they work well - never tried it with a 9000lb truck ........ but i see some people doing it with a a tow weight also ........ wow

ok. 1st sorry for posting here - ISX/MM - move it or delete it in a bit - just wanted everyone to see this this is the craziest towing I have seen last section of video Maybe I SHOULD have bought a ford - lmao
  15. Hey JL Sorry to hear man. I know from reading some of the older threads this has been a real pain.Obviously nothing to add that you haven't already tried - but I hope you get it fixed one way or the other - really do. john
  16. haha - yeah but the TazDevil really can tear it up - take it from an aussie
  17. When it says 1500 on it and has a bunch of 'yosamite sam stickers saying "back off"'
  18. Now I know why my stock TC was almost trashed Haven't driven it enough with my new 3x disk - but expecting a few miles on it from now - am gonna put in a derale cooler as well. Yes - pics !!! Cool info.
  19. yeah - wish I'd known too. I had the same problem - it was fixed with a new VB with lower pressure from the guys I got it from. I think the options if you don't want to get the solenoid kit above is the resistor method or turning down the valve line pressure manually. The resistors/voltage regulator can be added until the voltage is between 4.5-to5v but have someone else confirm that - just what I read. Finally you can adjust the line pressure itself. Here's a good link. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-powertrain/186150-47re-line-pressure-gov-pressure-issues.html
  20. Hey. Cool info. Now I am still a bit of a newbie so forgive the questions. Whats the purpose of bypassing the lockup solenoid ? I mean - I get the purpose of the mystery switch to force TC lockup - but aren't you kinda trying the reverse - to prevent lockup until you decide to turn it on ?? I couldn't think of why that would be what you wanted - at first I thought for racing - but then that didn't quite make sense when I thought about it - so kinda lost me With the TC off and not locked up - I guess your enabling higher rpm (hence why I thought racing) but then you lose conversion efficiency - so thats why I dropped that idea. So it will generate more heat in the TC and tranny fluid, and less power to ground. Anyway - sure I missed the point - either way its pretty cool info when someone posts internal modifications - something you can alwayts reference if its useful to your application - so thanks. Waiting more info
  21. Heres some good instructions on replacing the band strut with new anchor if you want to drop the pan and do it yourself. http://www.xtremediesel.com/manuals/1030418_419ValveBodyInstallation.pdf anchors, struts and kickdown bands available from same as well as most diesel stores

  24. coolthats interesting on the axles/gears as well as the injector failuresyeah I was on cumminsforum and someone was like $2k for injectors - and I was like :stuned:Thought they were higher performance afterarket or something ..... but nope - CCR :Pnice.
