The time has come to produce the Mopar1973Man High Idle & MPG fooler switches again.
So I finally got the dealership to enable my high idle. I've been using it the past few morning start ups and I seem to be maxing out around 400 for EGT, does that sound about right? I could've sworn I've read some guys have been able to get temps nearing the 900 range, but I also imagine there trucks are configured differently then mine.

That's a cool vid Nick, what software and viewing platform are you using? I totally forgot I have a CF login and such from way back so I'll hop on there at some point and show off the switch as well, or just hop on sleezys thread and brag about it as well.

That's what I ended up using/doing. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't loosing my marbles! The way it's installed now, it shows hardly any thread because I have it on a rounded part of the kick panel but it still works out really well as far as rigidity and all.

So I'm having my dad cut me out a piece of aluminum to use as a backing for the high idle switch so I can either put the sticker on that or get it etched or lasered to match the sticker. My question is when I was installing I initially drilled a 1/4in hole like the instructions said but it wasn't a big enough hole to fit the threads through. Did I install it wrong? This is how it looks

It was prolly unhooked for an hour or so. I'll probably end up doing it just in case.

So I know this is a little off topic, but I forgot to reset my APPS after installing my high idle switch. Can it be reset even after driving it? Or do I need disconnect the batteries for 30 mins and then reset before driving? I havent thrown a code yet so I suppose that's good haha

Low Mileage Truck
Yea haha that's exactly what I pointed out when I called. Of course I got fed the 'yea I unfortunately this truck doesn't qualify for this' but tried to reassure me that this truck is a 'half million mile truck' but I made sure he knew that while that may be true but not for that price haha i just wanted to find a decent 4x4 long bed that I don't have to throw a ton of money at right away. Eventually I'd want to do an entire engine and tranny rebuild.

So it seems like my truck doesn't like starting cold with the switch in MPG mode, is that sound typical? It still starts quick, it's just a lot more rough then normal. Typically even when cold, i'll get a little puff of black smoke out the exhaust, but when starting cold in MPG mode, its a combo of some white and black smoke, then steadies out.

Low Mileage Truck
Yea definitely a little rich for my blood, but it seems fairly common that prices for our trucks are higher then normal up here in the PNW. I need to find one from down south or something that might not have the price gouge! Eek!

Low Mileage Truck
Not sure if anyone's on the market or even in this area but I always browse craigslist to see if I can't find a good deal on a long bed 4x4 in my area and ran across this! http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/5297704925.html A little rich for my blood but man, finding a truck with 50k on it, all original?! If only!

ah yes, that is what I was asking. Basically didn't want to be plugging her in at night only to come out in the morning to start her up and it not even have mattered.

Will having any mode selected disengage the block heater?

So you should notice that when starting cold once you switched from OFF to MPG mode or once the truck was started in MPG mode right?

Ah ok, that makes sense, is there difference in the way the truck runs when in MPG mode? Can you start the truck with the selector switch already on 3/6cyl? Or is it start the truck then select up what mode you want?

Yea that's what i ended up doing. Got it all hooked up and let it sit for a few minutes in 3cyl and nothing happened so I'll have to call the dodge dealership and see what they charge. I did notice though after it started, i switched over the 3cyl quickly and it made the engine bog down slightly just for a second. Is that normal? Also after having in the 3cyl for a few minutes and switching it back to off, the idle seemed to raise a few hundred rpm or so, normal? This is all new to me so just trying to find a balance between normal and pay attention too kind of things. I assume since 3cyl high idle isn't setup on my truck and the 6cyl and MPG wont work as well right?

Yea that makes sense, so if I do need the flash, I'd have to get it done by the dealer since I don't know anyone with a smarty. So what would I need to tell the dealer to flash?

Yea the block heater wasn't a surprise, just the fact it actually had the cable attached! lol
