  1. Cool, that's what I figured. I'll give it a shot! I was already surprised by the fact that the truck actually had the block heater chord (its a 2wd central California truck, go figure) so maybe it'd be flashed!
  2. So as of now, I'm not 100% sure I have the most up to date ECM flash so my plan was to just install and see if it worked. Is that ok? Or should I just double check and make sure it's flashed properly? I definitely don't want to damage anything out of sheer laziness!
  3. Well I got my order placed so I'm excited to get it! I'm not sure I'm even in a cold enough climate to really justify using it, but it'll definitely help warm up the truck quicker! After looking at the instruction manual, it makes my earlier question a little silly (doh!) but I think I'm going to install where it mentions.
  4. Awesome, would you guys mind posting pics of the install? Trying to brainstorm some ideas here so anything helps!
  5. Cool, Is there a recommended place to put it? I kind of like the cubby hole location, just because it's out of the way, but if there's a 'better' place, i'm all for it.
  6. Is there a specific place these are made to mount? Or is it take your pick and put it where you want?
  7. I about had a heart attack after looking in the store and seeing the switches for sale and sold out!! Then I realized that they haven't been put up for sale yet.
  8. Ughhhhh!! The wait is killing me! haha Looking good fellas! It'll be really nice to get one of these, especially with the weather cooling down pretty quickly! Keep up the good work! It's much appreciated!
  9. Hmm, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for some old election signs floating around! Thanks guys!
  10. That sounds like a good idea, do you have pics?
  11. So I finally got around to ordering a new block heater cord from Geno's and much to my surprise, I already had a cord on there! I never would've thought that a California truck would've even had one so I never even bothered checking, just assumed it wouldn't have it! All in all, plugging in makes her run a lot better in the morning and I can definitely tell a difference so it'll be nice once the temps really start to drop. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good/cheap winter front?
  12. So I ended up going with the Springfield XD mod.2 in .45 It's a great gun, shoots really well for a .45, and honestly for as short as the barrel is, shoots like a smaller caliber gun. I carry it with a Stealthgear holster and have ZERO issues concealing/carrying all day. My obsessiveness got the best of me and for the sake of comparison I ended up getting the Sig P320 compact in 9mm. It is an amazing gun! Feels better in the hand then any other gun I've owned, has a double action pistol that shoots like an aftermarket single stage trigger. It really is a great weapon. Although bigger then the XD I am still able to conceal it really well in an alien gear 3.0 holster. All in all I'm more then content with my choices and feel that no matter the situation or gun I happen to be carrying that day, I will be able to deal with any threat posed to myself, family or anyone else near by.
  13. Thanks for the input Dave. I certainly agree with you, as I understand the benefits of getting the truck warm. I'm just looking to minimize or band aide the problem as best I can. I think I'll add grill covers since I live in a fairly small town, so any driving I do already is a pretty short trip, as well as plugging in when it does get colder in the winter.
  14. GAH! Thanks for adding to my paranoia even more Will! lol! I'll start plugging in for sure, and look into some grill covers as well. Any recommendations on those?
  15. Is there any harm done by plugging in even when the weathers warm out?
  16. Haha yea! well a beater car would be nice but with a new house and baby on the way that doesn't fit the budget. My dirt bike does have a plate on it, but with the amount of rain we get up here in the NW that's not ideal.
  17. I recently moved and with that took my trip to work from +/-15min to +/-5min to work. Even with the 15 minute drive, I would just be pulling into the parking lot at work and the temp gauge would just be getting into the normal op temps, if that. Now with my drive so short, it's practically impossible to get everything warmed up before I get to work. So other then the obvious, just drive around until its warmer then go to work, are there other viable options to get the truck warmed up as to not be shutting down a cold engine?
  18. Thanks for sharing! Always good to know these little things so you can check before opening up the cash flow! For a while my Boost gauge was making the same sort of noise, but it has since gone or I've just gotten used to it. It usually only happened under heavy acceleration. What gauges were you running?
  19. Awesome, glad the install went well and that you're enjoying it! Definitely changes up how you drive too! I don't think my passenger window has been fully closed in quite a while!
  20. So how did everything go?!
  21. I say straight pipe man! I'm the same as Hawkez except no resonator and I don't experience any major droning. Obviously some drone will occur but it's not bad. Plus I figure I could always add a resonator later if I wanted, but doing that the other way around would be a little tougher!
  22. Dude, I'm so jealous! This thing is like my dream engine build! I could never manage to do something this in depth, I'd definitely have to take it to a shop and get it done! Looking forward to the first start up!
