  1. So Mike are you using the Bluetooth version of the OBDlink? If so, do you know what the range is? I was thinking if the range is long enough I might be able to pick it up from the desktop. If not, what I'm thinking is getting the USB version and just getting a 50ft or so cable extension and just run it in the house to the computer.
  2. So I'm thinking one of two ways to go about this. Get a scan tool I can use on both trucks (Dodge and GMC) OR get something that does scan reading and a better trip counter and MPGs (which seems to be the scangauge) On the OBDlink I'd be limited to the wi-fi version since the only windows based computer I have is my desktop. Everything else I have is iOS (insert apple fanboy jokes here) so I think that the wi-fi version is my only option, please correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. CSM, that's exactly what I end up doing! I usually only commute MAYBE 5 miles round trip so everyone couple weeks or so I try and take it on a longer trip to get it up to normal operating temp. Mike, I know exactly what you mean! The boss always trumps MPGs and everything else for that matter!!
  4. So this morning was a bit chilly for us around these parts (weather read 27* fells like 19*) so I go out to get the truck started and let the 3cyl do its job for a bit. I turn the high idle switch to off since I hadn't left it plugged in, WTS goes out and I give it a crank. She starts a bit rough, but only stumbles for a second maybe and fires up. Thinking nothing more, I turn the switch to 3cyl and head back inside. I come back out and notice a CEL on. Truck still is driving fine, although it seems like the truck might have a little less power, but not sure if it was just a combo of the CEL light being on and it being a little icy or what but just a feeling. Anyways, this is the first CEL I've had since owning this truck so and I figured it'd be a good time to get something to scan the truck myself so I can handle problems and not throw money away at the dealership. Any inputs on code readers or what may have caused my CEL would be greatly appreciated! Hope everyone's enjoying their thanksgiving weekend!
  5. That may be what I end up doing as well. There's a slighty longer commute route I can take, it just requires me to leave a little earlier to work, which is even harder! ha!
  6. Yea I haven't been letting it idle at normal RPMs, always using either 3/6cyl. Just wasn't sure it was better to get the engine warm as to avoid a cold shut down (real short commute to work) or just do like your saying, start, let run for a bit then go. Its getting colder then normal around these parts 20* this morning, so that combined with a short trip to work has me in limbo of importance.
  7. Glad you posted this Mike. I was wondering why my MPGs were down! I usually let the truck sit in high idle for 5-10 minutes before leaving for work. It'd be better to sacrifice some MPGs rather then doing a cold such down right? Or is that the other way around?
  8. CSM, that was something I had thought of as well, just not sure where it would fit on/in the box.
  9. Same to you my friend, as well as everyone else!!
  10. Good to hear, I read a couple places that the edge boxes are weather proof but I'd rather be safe then sorry. Do either one of you have any trans work done on your rigs? Or still running stock with the EZ?
  11. Sorry to revive this thread but @IBMobile I was curious if you found something to put the EZ in something weather proof or not?

Sorry to hear this storm hit you so hard! We're up on Whidbey Island and while the winds were pretty insane, I wasn't directly effected by it. It's pretty much made up my mind that getting a generator for things like this is a must have, especially since my house is all electric. Hope you get everything back in order Anthony. BTW where are you at? Side note.... what brand generators are you guys running for your whole house setups?
  13. No worries man! Thanks for looking! I appreciate the ideas, does anyone have measurements for the tab? My dad has a couple mills and such so he could fab one up real quick.
  14. I really need better lights, once your out of the city it's pitch black on every road.
  15. Mike, thanks for clearing things up, tuners are still new to me so learning as quick as I can. I wish I had the time/money/skills that tfaoro has. I'm super jealous of his build, but I think that's more then I'd even want or need in my own personal build! Thanks ME, for some reason the revmax site says the 3.5 is only for 94-98 on the main banner part but once you click on the item it shows its for pretty much all 2nd gens. I originally thought that would be the better option but was thrown off!
  16. Royal Squire, that'd be awesome if you did! Let me know! Hex, I currently have a 24v that I'm just trying to tie up any loose ends that could cause potential problems. In the vast amount of research I've done on these trucks I always thought the KDP was only related to the 12v, don't know how I missed that
  17. Revmax seems like a good choice for what I'd want to achieve with this truck. I'll look at getting THIS and THIS when I can get the funds approved! The real question is where/who I can get to install it!
  18. lmfao!! CSM that made me I'm on board for this though. I've been on the fence of ordering stock replacements or going a route like this. Looking forward to the write up!
  19. Who makes single discs? Every one I've seen is triple! Or am I reading things wrong? I would assume the trans is in as good a condition it can be for having 175k on it. It was dad's truck before me and he bought it new. Never towed or hauled with it, all highway miles. My brother towed a small car a couple times but that should be nothing for this trans. **** CSM you posted after I thought I was done with my reply! All very good points and things I will take into consideration! I have never driven the truck that hard and don't really plan too. It's still a truck! Although I can't deny I wouldn't be tempted to dump some coal here and there if I was able too!! I feel I already drive off my gauges so that should be an easy transition!
  20. Is there a common part that's used to tab? Or do you need to fab one up likes Mike?
  21. I don't really have a HP goal. If I had to pick one I guess being able to handle whatever the comp threw at it would be plenty enough for me. I'm not sure I could handle the VB myself. I have a buddy of mine that might be able to help though.
  22. As much as I just wanna slap the comp on, I hate the idea of upgrading only to brake something else. I guess I'll have to look into at least a valve body and TC. How does these look Valve Body Is this a DIY install or take to a shop install? TC is this the 'lowest' upgrade to the TC there is?
  23. Nice, I've recently replaced my thermostat so that's good. What did you use to block the dowel pin? Same sorta thing as Mike?
  24. Ah ok, that clears it up! I wasn't sure which way the power scale slid. So I could even run it at 1x1 and get the 40hp with very minimal extra fuel? How much stress would running 1x3 add on the VP44? What's the benefit of running the comp and smarty stacked? Like I said earlier, I really do drive it like a grandpa, I constantly feel like people are mad because i accelerate so slow haha It would just be nice to be able to stomp on it a bit and really get her up and going every once in a while. Any recommendations on a nice upgraded valve body and TC?
