Yea *TINY* clunk. Seems like it's coming from the tie rid connecting the drag link to the main tie rod. I had to pull pretty hard to get the noise. I can't hear it in cab. I torqued them to 80ft/lbs as per the FSM.

Forgot to mention @BIG-BLACK-DODGE I didnt have have any clunk when turning on the new setup. What did you torque the tre's too?

So what muffler are you running? I was just driving my 99 with straight back 4in exhaust and love the sound, but towing on longer trips would be not ideal.

For piece of mind I only needed to use a 10mm on ththe tie rod stud for the first bit of tightening. After that I could just tighten down the bolt without holding the hex end

Is there any other way to tell if you have fly by wire cruise? @leathermaneod I'll dig through my papers and find it for ya!

Steering upgrade
@leathermaneod I think your best bet is to see if you can get the kit to fit since it's already on the way. Or read through that thread on CF or post and ask if it'll work with stock wheels stock ride height. That might make things easier then speculating or hoping it'll fit. Maybe someone there already knows the answe so if that answer is no you can just return it without worrying about trying to test fit without messing my up so you can still return it. In other news... I went for a drive today and the truck does feel a lot smoother and a little easier to drive. I still have steering wheel play which has to be from my steering box. As far tightening that, do I really just tighten the one bolt on top a 1/4 turn or so and that's it? What exactly is that bolt doing?

Teardown and Rebuild
It all makes sense now! I'd be right at home since I literally sit right next to #3 anyways haha Seriosuly though, I've been contemplating going 5in straight pipe for cruising to work and around town stuff but any long haul throw a muffler on to quiet it down.

I'd have to double check on the play but I don't believe there's any. My stock steering would clunk when turning around tight turns one way to another. I don't think grease will keep it front clunking. It's just the tie rods rotating so if they move they move Seems like they shouldn't on this new setup though. I haven't driven the truck yet but I imagine it'll be easier to drive just because of the T-style steering and beefier bars.

How is it towing?

Power Steering Fluid Leak
No specific order for those bolts is needed. Just torque. I can find my hard copy instructions if you'd like. Hard to tell what's in that wire loom but as long as bare wire isn't exposed I'd just be putting some new convoluted tubing over it with some electrical tape and call it a day.

Thats what I've seen a guy do before so I'm sure you could do it. Here's some more pics to give you reference of how things sit. and my my poor steering stab!

Steering upgrade
Hmm I'm on a 2in level and I have a fairly shallow angle on my pitman arm tre (I think!) I'll double check that! I think you'll be fine. Might just need some customization!

Steering upgrade
As far as I know the newest is AL and it's just the most recent version. That's the part number I got from rockauto. From what I read on CF you'll be fine on stock wheels just with some grinding. You MAY run into issues with adjustability in the drag link but who knows.

Steering upgrade
Looks good! That's a good price too. I paid 300 to my door from rock auto. I got got my kit out on today. Went pretty easy although the old TREs needed some heat and some good whacks from the hammer. I managed to mangle my threads on the stock steering stabilizer so I'll be running without one for a while. I ended up having plenty of clearance for the TR threads but the part of the tie rod that holds the end itself was pretty close to the dust cover. I had maybe an inch of extra adjustability in my drag link before I was as short as it could go. I'll post back more later.

Longer cranking...
Quick update guys! Well I got the 3 grommets replaced. I don't have to high of hopes of that being the problem as they all looked to be in pretty good shape. Old grommets on top, new on bottom. I took a green pad to the T to clean it up a bit and sprayed it with brake clean then aired off. Got in reinstalled and pretty well snugged down. I then tackled my fittings at the VP inlet. I didn't like the way it was tightening down as it would cover my power steering fluid cap so I got a couple new fittings from Vulcan. I also wanted to check my T for my fuel pressure gauge just to make sure. It looks like it's possible the loctite didn't fully cure on the piece that connects the hose to the fittings so I'm letting that dry overnight. If there was a slight leak there before, hope it's gone now. I'm also trying to find a better place to mount that needle valve so I can get to it easier, I'll be doing that tomorrow. Also, does anyone see anything wrong with this? Thats how far my needle valve sticks in my fuel T. Any flow issues or anything there? Ill get everything out back together and primed tomorrow and let it sit as long as possible and see if my leak is gone.

Looks good man! You've inspired me! When I finally decide to do something about my steering box I think I'm going to try and rebuild it myself!

Thanks for the invite! I'm still trying to convince the wife that trailer camping is the way to go so after our trip in August, we'll see how she feels and maybe we'll make a trip down that way!

What nut on top of the steering box are you guys talking about? Also, @BIG-BLACK-DODGE did you get a measurement for the sleeve you used?

Tow mirror options
I was looking at THESE because I like the bigger spot mirror size, but they're pricey! I've heard nothing but good things about the 1AAuto mirrors though so if you go this route I don't think you'd be disappointment, but I don't have first hand experience.

Power Steering Fluid Leak
If Dodge is going to charge and arm and a leg for that bolt I'd just head over to Ace or some other hardware store and get my replacement there.

Thanks for that code! Do you have the kool-vue's? I've heard a lot of complaints about a lot of shaking at speed?
