  1. I checked the old radiator cap today and no milky stuff on the spring so maybe it was just nasty stuff on the spring from the factory.
  2. I have wanted to do this for as long as I have had my 98 but I have been reading so many threads lately on nv4500 failers I am just gonna build my 47re.
  3. No, just that white stuff on the spring. I just put my old cap back in and will check again tomorrow.
  4. Even though my last oil sample said zero coolant in oil I have a bad feeling my head gasket may have bit the bullet. The new water pump and radiator cap fixed my temp fluctuation but I checked my coolant 2 days now and I have a little milky sobstance on the spring in the radiator cap. You can see the white stuff on my finger tip. The coolant isnt milky at all, its crystal clear but this little milky stuff along with the small puff of white smoke on startup.
  5. Well between the new Napa water pump and ventless radiator cap my temp fluctuations have stopped.
  6. If you cant find one for a 98 or 99 you might just get a whole other canister from a 200-02 as they are easier to change filter in anyway. There is one on the CF right now I have eyeballing for $40.
  7. ^^^^ This is what I do too. I pull the heater hose off and when coolant gets to the top of the copper bung I put the t-stat and housing back on and then fill from the radiator. When you idled your truck for 20 minutes did you ever check the temp? When I flushed mine, I did like you and ran garden hose till it was clear and then added the flush but then took it for a 30 minute drive and got the temp to 190. If you dont have any coolant in it yet just go get you a new water pump, I just got another new one and it was $49 from napa. The bosch I got from pepboys had a ring welded to the impeller and did cool like it should have but the one from napa looks like the oem unit. Napa's True Flow part #43526
  8. Mine has a dampner. You will need a u-bolt type mount. Mine might be bent?
  9. My wife is in the Airforce and it has its pro's and con's. She wants to travel and we ended up in Japan for 3 years but if you dont like where your at you still have to stay. She is stationed here at Macdill now and we are trying to move on base for all the same reasons you described. If there is anyway you can, go in as an officer or get your schoolin done and cross over to an officer.

    Welcome to the Fam. You didnt get a lemon, its just one of those things that happens. I have replaced my apps as have many others, although it would be even better if they gave you a new injection pump. If it turns out the pump instead of the apps and they are going to replace it, dont let them put a new lift pump in the tank. Tell them you want to put an airdog or fass pump on it and split the difference. The intank pump is junk and you will want better fuel flow to your new injector pump. Good luck!

  12. I dont want an unmatched set either but I have a good di pricol fuel pressure gauge. I dont know if the isspro ev or ev2 will match my di pricol better?
  13. Where have you gotten the best price on isspro's at? I am trying to sell my commander so I can buy mechanical gauges and since di pricol is gone, isspro it is.

  17. Took that junk back to pepboys and bought one from napa without that little impeller cover and it seems to have helped. I havent been able to get it on the road yet because my tags havent come in the mail yet and I dont want another run-in with the po po. I also got a new radiator cap but they offered two, one vented and one not, I got the one not vented but didnt really know what that meant. Do we have vented radiator caps?

  19. It may be just that. I added plenty of that limited slip fluid a few years ago and it did nothing so its definatly wore out if its stock.
  20. I too have thought about changing to 4.10 and open diff. I have never pulled the rear cover but it acts like it has a detroit locker. Sometimes after a corner it will kick real hard and loud to one side.
  21. Thats what we were trying to figure out. maybe he climbs out in the back of the truck while its rolling. Or he is very blessed and just pulls it out and hangs it out the window. I could have shown the cops if that were the case and they would have apolagized to me and my wife.

  23. There are 2 ways to my house from work or Tampa and I usually dont take that road but it is right next to my house. I just think im kinda screwed now just because my truck color and bumper and im not changing just because some pervert has good taste in trucks. --- Update to the previous post... I doubt she was hot, I have seen people running and never anyone worth looking at much less flashing.
