Factory lift pump & After market lift pumps Caution !
Thank you for article. My airdog lift pump is mounted closest to fuel tank as possible. Pump is mounted next to where the pick up bed meets truck cab. Reason is was told these pump designs “push” fuel better than “suck” fuel. But unknown if that is a proven fact or not. At the resent time, my wire relay connection is mounted on the firewall. I could shorten the wire run approx. 8 1/2 feet by extending the relay connection closer to the lift pump. The new wire run from the DC pump to the "shunt capacitor" would then be a length of 1 foot to 18 inches, as opposed to 8 1/2 feet, and not exposed to weather best I can see. Of course it would not be as easy to check fuse, but would be a lot closed to pump motor. If I were to extend the relay connection and fuse, the relay connection would be at lot closer to lift pump, would there be any real benefit? Thank you for your insight

Trouble Starting Engine - HELP
Low pressure light kit comes on at what psi? If 5? That is to low. And I think to mount need 1/2 behind for connection. Not good imo. But maybe new stuff is better compared to my old model. Just something to consider.

Was going to tell him about excellant pie shop on way to crater lake. As many postings on here about tuners...I cant figure out my blue tooth on my phone

Moparman... Diff sensor... where did you weld it in at? Darn, that was the deciding factor why I bought a mega dollar diff cover about 3 years ago. I couldnt decide if I would have enough clearance or mess up flow of diff oil, so I bit my tongue and went with a fancy cover with temp prob hole built in. I'm certainly not going to go back to stock but where did you install at?

"much concern should I have about exhaust temps with this truck?" I don't shut mine off till Ive idled down to about 350 or below ...if it's an auto transmission I try to idle mine down in neutral after a long pull. As trans fluid doesnt circulate in park, what I understand. I don't go over 1200 egts when going down the road. Some folks go higher. mine is stock with 9,000 pound trailer. No problems but sure is gutless. We normally just fall inline with class 8 trucks on hills.

Homemade pop off testers
There's actually quite a few on YouTube that looks like a do the job but it's only Pop off pressure I'm not sure about the spray pattern. I think the days of spraying on a piece of cardboard to see what the spray pattern is are all gone.

Thanks for the reply... by the amount of interest in this post I don't think very many people have made their own.

Ya, I've got it easy by not touching "her" car. All except the price

Turbo's on newer cars
And when the wife is getting hers I read that in the cold parts of China is where they're doing some testing on it. When she was buying it we are signing papers, I did bring it up the salesman said well you know the worst that could happen didn't have to switch to premium gas, I just bit my tongue. Over 43 years I have learned not to say anything about the wife's car. If I even as much change a light bulb and a million miles later she has a blowout guess who she's going to blame?

Turbo's on newer cars
Yes... actually did quite a bit of reading about this. But it's the wife's car she absolutely wanted it and had to be a Honda and all that stuff. This is her fourth CRV, supposedly if you drive around in second you don't have that problem supposedly and on long long trips wide open road 65 or more I put it in Drive. I don't live in a very cold climate my put on very few miles, but yeah I'm concerned about it I check the oil probably more than I should.

Turbo's on newer cars
Tried to get turbo temp today with ir gun. Hard to do as it has a heat shield around it. Had to find a YouTube you to figure out where turbo was. Going to give up worrying about it for now. As this same turbo Honda been using for awhile now.

Idling long enough to do pressure test.
https://www.amazon.com/Block-Tester-BT-500-Combustion-Leak/dp/B06VVBSFTF Price not bad. Never knew about this product. In the past, I've only did the pressure test on cooling system. Assuming if pressure is lost, then start digging as to where pressure was lost to. Expiration date on bottle?...news to me. I'm on the hunt tomorrow, hopefully find them.

Idling long enough to do pressure test.
I use Cummings coolant... the type for our year models... can't remember exact stuff off hand. Pre-mixxed by gallon. Just want to test and make sure cooling system is holding pressure. My Ph strips on hand are probably 8 years old. Dont know if they go bad over time. Think I'll Amazon some in, just to make sure. Or I could do a test in water (neutral) can you think of any household thing that has known ph level in order to see if 8 year old strips are still good? Household vinegar?

Idling long enough to do pressure test.
Here's situation... coolant been in 4 yrs now, so time to change. Very little miles, maybe 100 miles in last 2 years due to wife cant get in truck because of medical problems. And I cant leave her attended to drive it around to get properly warmed up. And license tabs are also expired now. (Hell of a mess I'm in) So im thinking about a coolant system test (head gasket leak test) I'll have to idle about 1000 rpm with exhaust brake on. Never since 2005 when we got our 2001 excessively idled. Or should I forget pressure test, and just change coolant? Or idling to get up temps enough for test is OK? I normally change coolant every 4 yrs. What would you do? Thanks for replying.

Homemade pop off testers
Anybody made their own pop off tester? If so how do you like it? Digging around in my shed it looks like I'm real close with spare parts laying around...all except would have to buy a gauge. Any input good or bad for using a homemade tester?
