  1. i installed an ADII in my 02. my intructions wer pretty good. once you get into to it it is pretty self explanatory. i did not have any trouble with mine except self inflicted ones. that caused me to have to remove the fuel tank twice:doh:. my fault though. i dont know if you have to get into the fuel basket or not, but if you do make sure you put all of the clamps on properly.
  2. jsut be careful who rebuilds it. i had alot of bad luck with mine. Auto ECU built mine and i had nothing but trouble. they repaired it under warranty but the last time it took 5 weeks to get it back. and it has to go back again.
  3. i did not understand why they put the easy to use quick disconnect on one end and the other connections on the other. you still need the tool to take the line loose. good looking install though.
  4. thats not the first time i have heard of that one happening. you would think when you order an ECM it would be difficult to mistake for a PCM. evidently not.
  5. i dont have all the data that mike has gathered. it is interesting to see it though. but you can pretty much feel the truck behaving this way when it is driven. in the seat of your pants. --- Update to the previous post... stock hx35 here
  6. i went to my truck first this time. it looks worse than the other, but not impossible. though it would be a challenge. i think i would rather chang out a tranny. i am experienced now:lmao2:. almost looks like you would have to gave a stamping machine to reproduce.that is a substantial piece of metal. i aint a fabricator though.
  7. yeah. waht he said i think. i have seen more power in colder weather with and without the bhaf. it only lasts until the engine warms in my case. and then just returns to normal. egts pretty much the same winter or summer. i am sure if i collected alot of data that ther would be a diffarence, but i think it would be matginal at best. again my:2cents:
  8. i can pull 29 to32abs of boost with my banks stinger. it has a boost fooler to allow that. but i dont know anything about the chip you have on yours maybe someone else here does. i shoud also add that my banks came with a waste gate actuator that takes 30+ lbs to open it. the boost fooler just makes the computer think the boost is lower. your ecm would throw an over boost code if it sees boost over the low 20's
  9. would it be possible to have a junkyard or a friend cut one off of a wrecked truck? just went out and looke at mine. i did not realize how big and how welded to the frame that it is. still seems like it coud be done though:shrug:
  10. under daily driving mine have not changed and i have no heat sheild at all.
  11. i put the ADII in mine it came with a kit that allowed the pick up to be installed in the fuel basket. i am not knocking the draw straw at all. plenty of folks have them with no problems it is just another option you can look at. the install did affect my fuel gauge reading. i believe i caused that by letting the basket turn a little of the indes mark and the float is rubbing the side of the tank when the fuel is low.
  12. i have no heat sheild on mine. it is completely open under the hood. i have seen no differance in my egt's from my previous set up. i have yet to tow with this set up, but wll be doing that soon. if all remains the same there will be no heat sheild in mine at all.
  13. thru this whole job not one busted knuckle on me or any of my helpers. that has got to be a first for me. i received the only injury, my oily hand slipped on the bell housing while moving the old tranny out of the way and cut the palm of my hand just enough to hurt, no blood. no blood on any one. i am still amazed at that one. reassembly went as good a disassembly. we took it slow and methodical. i like you worked my truck pretty hard wihile towing. the owner manual said you did not have to change the tranny fluid just keep it full. that served me well for quite a while. but after having gone thru this it makes the price and labor of changing the fluid look like chump change:spend: change compared buying and replacing that nv5600. i believe now i can slow downn a little and grab a lower gear a little mor often.
  14. it would be a helluva video though:lmao:. reminds me of the seen in The Right Stuff, the nurse stuck one of them with something and his hand was opening and closing very quickly and he is looking at it like:stuned: and the next seen he is massageing and beating on his hand just trying to get it to open again.
  15. the intank paump is definately a problem. i just replaced mine a couple of months ago with an Air Dog. mine got so bad i put a booster pump on it. you ought to be running 17 to 20 psi idle 15 to 18psi wot. that will feed enough fuel for cooling the vp as well as running the engine. the only cooling and lubrication the vp gets is from the fuel. with todays ultra low sulpher fuel you need to add 2 stroke oil to help with that lubrication. ther is much more detailed info here on the site that addresses this issue. have you seen any fuel leaking anywhere? it sounds like something is leaking for you to loose pressure once you get to 10psi. it could be any where in the fuel system even in the tank since your pump is in there. you definatley need to be thinking about replacing the pump with an Air Dog, raptor, Fass or another system of your choosing there alot of good ones out there. those 3 are the bext for the money in my opinion. that might cure your leak down problemm also. installed properly it will eliminate that part of the system. some of the other guys here know more about it than i do but that would be a good start toward solving your problem.
  16. a very simple but accurate example of water hammer. if you can just work on that hand speed a little
  17. thanks Dave, my blood pressure was up to. kept having the thought in the back of my mind, what if i bought apiece of crap tranny. right now every thing works as it should, now strange noises, stays in gear, and shifts good. keeping my fingers crossed for now.
  18. i guess i should pay better attention. i thought JL was going. sorry to hear you had to come back though mike.
  19. i am not really worried about. just finished putting my truck together and getting ready burning it up.:hyper:
  20. we manged to get the old tranny off and the new tranny on this weekend. there was alot of work we still needed to do to make this happen. i snapped one of the crossmember bolts so that will have to wiat until tomorrow along with the tansfercase and driveline. thankd god the heavy lifting is over. I got a brother and a son who are pretty happy about that one also. tomorrow the wife is my helper. we sill see how that goes. it does have some promise. when the old tranny was out i spun the input shaft and there was lot of play and noise in the gear train, sounded really nasty. lets hope the new to me works as good as it sounds. no play in any thing and it spins smooth and silky. i dont recomend this to any one who does not have help and a decent place to work. it is a major piece of work to accomplish. there is alot o f satisfaction in doing something like this yourself, but it is a lot of work. --- Update to the previous post... :hyper::hyper::hyper:DONE AND WE'RE DRIVING:hyper::hyper::hyper:
  21. start with your owners manual. it should have fluid types and quantities.
  22. enjoy the down time JL. i am a little jealous. i need some of that my self.
  23. gonna have to try that one. the weld is breaking on my exhaust at the mount at the back of the trannny. figure i am going to have to fix it soon. does it really take that 2000 rpm drone away. that drives me crazy on a long trip.
  24. thanks.i wil give that a try after the tranny.
