  1. thats an awesome life span:thumb1:. i am on my 4th set of fronts at 225k. my rears are still oe, just about gone though. since i have installed an e brake i hope to never replace the rears again.
  2. i think if i had been James i might of insisted on a slightly differant than the first time.
  3. got home to late for the jack. will just ahve to make do with the floor jack. --- Update to the previous post... plywood laid. transfer case tomorrow. it does help nicely --- Update to the previous post... got my hydraulic jack to spread the frame.fot plenty of straps too. think my wife might have to much fun dropping the jack. my grandson helped with things and did a pretty good job considering he is only 13. what is a good way to tell the condition of the center support bearing?
  4. Chandler says he would be so happy if you could help us with that. He is getting ready to help take the drive shaft out of his future truck. we will see if he is still happy in couple hours.
  5. 13. he is planning ahead.
  6. I am sitting here with my grandson Chandler and he has come up with a great idea. while showing around the site and explainig how it works posts, threads, points, and donations. he came with a great idea. He said all i needed to do was get a bunch of donations and just get a new truck. i like the way he thinks.. any takers?
  7. i have got a 3 ton floor jack. have to do the work in my back yard which is going to be challenge, but it is all i have and i am just going to deal with it. i have seen specs that say the tranny weighs 360# and 460# dont know which it is so i am prepared for the heaviest, i hope. got plenty of help. i cant believe the transfer case is any worse.
  8. i dont have all the extra info yall have but these #'s are consistant with my truck 90* +or- 5* in 6th gear level ground. they have been pretty consistant for the past 1.5 years since i started payin attention.
  9. this weekend i am taking my tranny out and preparing to install another one next week end. i have read several write ups here and feel confident i can do this. i know the nv5600 is quite heavy and i am prepared for that. just how heavy is the transfer case? i dont want ot get clobbered by it either.i figured while I had it out i would replace the seals since they leak slightly. does a seal removal tool make the job any easier? i have seen other ways, but if the tool is worth spending the money on i am all for it. any advice is appreciated.
  10. l always wondered what the inside of one of those engines looked like. wow!!
  11. no problem. i have been a member here for almost a year and a have learned more about this vehicle than i learned in the previous 9 years i have owned it. the folks here are very knowlegeable and helpful, not just on our trucks.
  12. thats differant. we use kilowatts here to measure elctricity. that could get a little confusing for me. it does not take alot to confuse me at times though. pardon me you said kilojoule not kilowatts. but i always thought that was still a measure of electrical power.
  13. welcome from North Carolina. the family just gets bigger.
  14. welcome from the USofA. nice to dee exchange of information on something other than a political nature. if you dont measure in btu's what do you use?
  15. sounds like the truck is running good from what you say. the air leaking by as you described would give me some concern. i just dont know enough to know if it is a big problem. hopefully someone here could enlighten us as to what it could be. i would not throw the truck away but i would like to know if it is a problem.

  17. WOW. looks like you got a hungry critter on the loose.
  18. not that i would recomend doing this, but i drove mine for a while under the same circumstances only because i did not know anything about the importance of fuel pressure and did not own a fp gauge at the time. the vp will run just fine with low fuel pressure until it waers out. your guess is a as good as mine on when that wil happen. wether you choose to drive it or not get a new lift pump and install it as soon as time and cash will allow you to. and by lift pump i dont recommend an oe replacement. raptor, air dog, fass, whatever as long as it gives good pressure and flow. DAP has some good deals on some older models if he has any left.
  19. :iagree:thats where mine is.
  20. the adjustable part is pretty good. but i dont think you can beat a fp gauge. to me its easier seeing real time pressure. as the pressure would begin to drop as your filter is filling with contaminants you are able to see it slowly drop and know there is a problem before the warnig light comes on. i have been thinking of putting one in addition to my fp gauge in case of a quick failure of some component in the fuel system.
  21. welcome. maybe one day i can make my 02 look that good again.
  22. are you wanting to use the oil for lubrication or for fuel?
  23. i still got my spare that came on the truck in 01. used it twice. last time about 1.5 years ago. did not want to leave it on long so i got the bad one fixed quick. thats one michelene with less than 50 miles on it. reckon it is still good to 100mph? i will send it to you for testing.
