Electric Oil Pump
Well theres a thought. I might even be able to make that for cheap.

Electric Oil Pump
I am thinking about putting an electric oil pump on my truck just so when I start it, it already has oil pressure. After that the pump can turn off since the mechanical one is now turning. I am just wondering how hard this would be to do. I haven't looked into it much but figured someone on here knew all the pros and cons.

Troubleshooting dead end on dead pedal. Apologize for a long thread in advance
As for the battery thing you mentioned, you should change them out in pairs. Batteries equalize so if one is bad, then the other will be drained as well. Try and get identical batteries too. Don't worry about it being a long thread, the longer it is the more details we got and the less time we have to spend getting more info out of you

Fuel pressure gauges and needle valves
Yep, same as the one for the fridge. Probably better than a snubber. Firewall is better because of engine vibration. The banjo bolt and fuel filter should be the same pressure if it is the part of the fuel filter that is after filtration. Let me know if you ever need any help, I am in MO too..

Transmission Issue
Have you checked the fluid? Not sure if low fluid would do that or not but maybe I don't know much about autos.

Found this useful TRUCK WHEEL CHART
Damn Russ! I know tons of people who could use that. Thanks for posting that!

stihl ms880 vs ms660
If you can't hold a saw just get into the position you usually cut in and hold the saw there as long as you can every day, to the point that your arms start shaking and you drop the saw (almost). Hold it out farther in front of you to make it harder or hang something heavy on it. Then you can hold any chainsaw. I wanted to hold heavier rifles steadier so I just got a 1.5" solid steel bar about 6ft long and just held it up like a rifle for as long as I could with each arm. If it was too heavy I slid it back on my shoulder, and slid it forward as I got stronger.

EGT Figures for Reference
Perfect. I added IAT to it. I also am just averaging all your temps. I got to thinking a little more and exhaust, intake,... would all be a factor in this (especially HX or HY turbo) but I think I will overlook all of these other stats for now. If we end up having wildly different numbers out of someone then we might have to get a bit more technical. I think most of us know what EGT they are at at certain speeds including me, so if I see a result that looks a little skewed I will get some more details on it from them so we learn why they are hotter/colder than the normal. The way this chart works I just replace the file, so the 1st post results are going to be changing rather than reposting an updated spreadsheet every time. I might add some more factors to it, I know what most of you have done to your trucks so I will fill it in if I add more factors.

EGT Figures for Reference
I got the wild idea to make a whole graph of my EGT's at different speeds, temperatures, and conditions. I can't exactly graph them all instantly though so if anyone wants to help, just get on level ground and go a constant speed at a constant throttle, record the factors like I have, let me know if it is the truck in your sig or list the truck specs it was on. I want to see how everything affects the EGT's and I am too stupid to remember what it was "last time" so I am going to start recording what I see. I am going to do all 5th gear driving so if you guys are in a gear other than O/D, just list it so we know. These will all be unloaded tests, people may wonder if their EGT's are normal or not so I want to get nothing but unloaded results. Thanks to anyone that helps! If you guys want this thing to be bigger to read it a little easier since the site scales it down, just click here.http://www.mopar1973man.com//isx97/Excel/TruckEGT.JPG

coworkers 07 has poor mileage
Are you sure thats a 4 thumb comment? The 2 CR 5.9's I have been riding in with 10k in tow have been getting around 11.

Valve Lash Settings
Yeah I am going to have to stay on top of them. They get loose most times rather than tighter so being as tight as the service manual allows means I have a lot of room to get loose. Someone had worse mpg running them like this so we will see what I get.

fuel tank
I know for certain my tank is 35 gallons. I have filled up at 34.5 gallons once. My light usually comes on at 700 miles.

Easy way to set valves
I am rotating it clockwise from the front by tightening a damper bolt but this is not advised. Using the alternator is the best way and you have to work in reverse so you would watch the intake come up and once the exhaust valve moved you would stop. To rotate the engine the right way properly, you would need a barring tool which goes into the bell housing to turn the flywheel, takes forever but won't break anything, the damper way could break damper bolts or something which is why I wouldn't do it. In reverse the timing would be 426351 and watch the exhaust valve instead. I will probably be doing it this way from now on, using the alternator.

Idle Heat
Mine stays at about 195 once you drive it long enough. My idle did the same thing when I had the fan on. I took it off originally just because I heard a rumor that it takes power/mileage away. I think it is negligible but I gained a ton of room by getting rid of it and the shroud. I work on my truck a lot just to be working on it and having that crap out of the way saves me a lot of time since I don't have to take it out constantly. The only thing I see as being a problem is the underhood temps when your not moving. I have a temp gauge in there and have seen it get pretty hot under there. I worry about things melting, but after a year it hasn't happened so I pretty well stopped worrying.

Valve Lash Settings
At only 1000RPM, each piston hits TDC 16 times a second. It happens so fast that any tiny adjustment with the valves makes a difference.

3 cylinder high idle
I wouldn't need to warm it up if it were plugged in but the stock heater doesn't work as good from what I can feel. It was warm after plugged in for 2 days, any less and it sure wasn't warm.
-
3 cylinder high idle
I'm thinking either a 8.3 block heater (would it fit?) or I'm not sure what.
-
3 cylinder high idle
I noticed the CR service trucks we drove heated up fast. John's 01' did too. Mine's broke I guess
-
3 cylinder high idle
I don't know what it is but I should video tape it. I don't know where all the heat goes, my EGT's are never high either.

Which oil should I use?
I have one if you want it. Think it is new, can't remember.

Digital EGT results
Well I haven't seen it for a month lol. But it's definitely nice. I just gotta figure out how to configure it and everything. If you need some help make sure and post or PM me or something to force me into figuring it out It was set up for the EGT out of the box so I didn't have to touch it.

3 cylinder high idle
Ohh yeahh. It slams open like a dam breaking. I even replaced it at one time for the hell of it, no change.

Which oil should I use?
This was kind of a "today" thing as I am back on the road at 4AM. So I threw premium blue in it to see how that works out. I do have a bypass filter on it. I am going to change this out at 5k so it can get rid of the rest of the amsoil, then go for 10-15k. Amsoil makes my trans grind in 4th so I got redline on order since I have read countless reviews about it making it shift smooth, and I read a lot of reviews about amsoil making it shift rough so they were right there, I hope they are right about the redline. I didn't have to do any preferred customer stuff and it will be at my door for $78 for FIVE quarts with $15 shipping included. I got high hopes for that stuff I gotta make a program to show me when I last changed all these fluids since the only one I remember is the oil and thats only because I write the mileage and date on the side of the oil filter. I know the brake fluid and power steering fluid haven't been changed since I have owned it, so they got 100k minimum on them. Ha, made me a program.

If your titles on all of those weren't so long I wouldn't have skipped over them What did you find out about the 2GPM loss thing?

3 cylinder high idle
You guys should consider yourself lucky. I have no fan, cold winter front, and when it is cold out it takes 20+ miles to get it to the point of opening the tstat. I have even watched it take 30+ miles on some colder days. I have a temp gauge in the heater core line and then the stock one and they both show the same thing so it really is just that hard to heat the thing up. If I start it and sit there idling, it takes half an hour to get it to 140. After watching that I don't even wait, I start it and drive.
