runnin' the valves
Mines going to 8 intake 15 exhaust when I get back. I ever since I got that new turbo shaft and put it back together that thing spools like crazy. I did set the valves to 8/18 right before that but don't think it made too much of a difference. I only noticed it because when I am in kansas city making turns and have to punch it to beat the red light and am usually lugging it, it didn't smoke at all. I looked back and said what is wrong with this thing. It usually smokes at least a little. So of course I had a few more red light runs and I started watching the boost and that thing was building boost very fast so it wasn't able to smoke due to low boost. I am not sure what did it but it might have been a combination of the 2 but I will set that exhaust down to 15 (since intake is already at 8) when I get home, then I think I can match the HY35 spoolup.

Digital EGT results
I actually drilled 2 tiny holes into the panel right above it so I could run a zip tie around it. I have the zip part above that panel so nobody can see it. Double sticky didn't work because that panel is curved and it just doesn't work at all. There is a 3/8" gap between the panel and the instrument panel clear plastic so I didn't have to drill any holes for wiring.

I wouldn't hold your breathe for me. This new job is full time as in ALL of my time. I went out tuesday morning and won't be back home for weeks. We stay in hotels and everything that may or may not have internet and the crew always wants me to play pool or something with them so I am basically screwed. All my free time has come to a huge halt, in fact I won't even see my truck for all these weeks and I might end up with only a few days to myself on some weekends for as long as I work for this place. I'll try and make it thursday, but I doubt it.

12V to 24V
This might help you out a bunch. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2806-gauges-work-with-12-valve-swap Basically there is nothing to go wrong electrically except the fuel shutoff solenoid. Every other sensor/wire/etc. can fry itself to shreds and as long as the shutoff solenoid still has power, the engine won't know the difference. All your gauges and stuff won't work but the engine will still run There is a rack in the P7100 and the farther over it goes the more fueling it puts out. At idle the rack goes back until it hits the idle set screw. The shutoff solenoid pulls the rack even farther back to where it cuts off all fuel. So you could take the whole shutoff solenoid off and move that lever to turn the engine on and off, it's that simple. http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen12v/p-pump/the-rack.htm --- Update to the previous post... As far as cams go, it will work either way, but the 24V has more lift on the lobes so it is considered an upgrade for 12v's. I can't use it because I need the lift pump lobe. Seeing as how you don't need it, the cam would work fine.

Raptor Pressure Drop Problem.
The drawstraw is a thought. The pump could be going bad too but I am more wondering about the wiring. When the condition calls for it (WOT) the pump has to keep up and if it has a bad connection or too small of wires it might not be getting the power it needs.

runnin' the valves
I've been really curious about that, how far can you go safely? As in before the piston decides what IT wants the lash to be

12V to 24V
You have to get the injection pump timed with the engine by loosening the pump gear nut and getting the engine and pump to where they need to be. You can lock the pump with it's timing pin and lock the engine on TDC #1 compression with it's timing pin and that should get it pretty close to stock. I am seeing 45psi right now for fuel pressure. That is basically the absolute max you want to see. I would set it so it doesn't go over 40. It shouldn't drop under 25 under a load, ever, if it does, you need a higher volume pump or a new overflow valve.

Hmm, you'll have to explain that to me. I don't want to hijack his thread so maybe move our 2 posts to the backroom..

Silverram323 - Joy ride or death wish?
Sorry Silverram323, I copied a post onto this thread to help you with the youtube thing but it was older so ended up above your post, I deleted my post and for some reason it killed the whole thread. Luckily I had your thread up on a different window so I can copy and paste it. It should have worked so there is another bug in this new version that I have to tell Mike about... Hmm, or maybe it was because my post was the first post. I'll figure it out eventually But if you look at the buttons above this text box you see the mail envelope and then a picture and then a filmstrip, click the filmstrip then past the youtube link. Anyways this was Silverram323's original post everyone: Joy ride or death wish? http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=XihQeZpwqpE

Any one have there CDL class A license?
In your own truck, whack the rear view mirror so it is pointing at something useless so you can't use it. Force yourself to use your side mirrors. That will help. My roommate did the whole "twist around in his seat to see out the back window" routine in his pickup and he almost never passed the CDL because he couldn't back up at all, he would turn around and see a sleeper

Want to upgrade ...in stages
I'm talking BHAF on the stock tube with nothing more, no heat shield no nothing.

mechanical or electric gauge
I would go with mechanical. There is a lot of talk about the safety issue but diesel hardly ignites. You have to get a flame on it and get the fuel hot and then it will ignite, more like burn. Gas ignites instantly on any spark, diesel takes a lot to get it to go. I have been burning brush with diesel and if I soak a leaf with diesel I have to sit there with a lighter on the fuel for 5 seconds to get it to do anything, if not longer. If you wreck good enough that you have that kind of heat for that long, in your cab, your lift pump will have surely turned off in such a catastrophe so there won't hardly be any fuel coming out of that tiny line for the gauge. If it was to get hot, I am betting you would be dead before the fuel lit, it takes that much heat. You can pour diesel on the floor in a line and it will slowllly progress down it, after you spend a long time just trying to light it. Both ways require you to tap into the fuel line, both ways need wires ran into the cab. Both of them need needle valves also to rectify the pulsations. The mechanical is probably more accurate also.

This place seems to have it's busiest times around 7-9:30CT. I don't think the eastern people should be penalized though so 7PM would probably work out good. I notice a lot of people even in the east are on here till midnight or later so I don't think we have to accommodate for them any earlier than 7CT. That is only 8ET. So I say: [*]8ET [*]7CT [*]6MT [*]5PT If that is too early for the pacific people I don't think it will matter much, they can just jump in a little later in the chat

I think we have been aiming for that but nobody has set a date We can make it an advertisement like that cell phone thing so everyone see's it and knows when it is.

Happy Halloween!
It's almost not even worth going anymore. The last time I went maybe in, hmm, 2004 maybe?, we went back to the same place we always do, just all the blocks in town (not subdivisions) and by the time 2004 hit, every house was giving us ALL their candy because they said we were the only ones they had seen all night. So it was kinda worth going but kinda not because most of the houses didn't even have their light on. Think of all the candy you can get on clearance the next day at walmart for the price of the gas you would use

Replacement Dodge Keys?
So get a permanent marker and draw a chrysler star on it.

Happy Halloween!
Yeah you don't count. They don't come to my house either though. Not worth it to go up a long driveway to get a snickers bar, then drive another mile to the next house, they all just go to the subdivisions in town.

Want to upgrade ...in stages
I've seen a few guys run a tube between the radiator and passenger headlight, there is a small opening there. In all reality though, I put a temp sensor on the air filter and the max I see over ambient is 20F and that is only if I am pulling a trailer, otherwise it is 5-10F. I would just throw the filter on, build a base for it, and be done with it.

Happy Halloween!
Anyone got any plans? I know a lot of you have kids so you have an excuse to go trick or treating again Don't eat too much candy!

What helicopter is this?
I do the same thing. In fact the apache was back out yesterday. One thing that will drive you nuts is that when the B2 bomber comes, you will hear it AFTER it goes by. When it is coming towards you or above you, you can't hear anything, but after it gets passed you it sounds like a normal jet. I would have thought the noise would hit you before it did because it only goes like 550mph. They sure made it stealthy.

OK guys, my engine stalling when the put in drive is back with the winter fuel blend.
Have you seen SASQCH's video where he starts it and instantly puts it into D and it doesn't do it? You are probably right on all this but the fact that he can do that is very interesting and makes me think there must be a way to fool something to make it work or something.

common - u serious ?
Hmm, John to the right of the ECM behind the downpipe you have a loose ground. It was connected good enough at the time but I knew it was questionable. I don't think it will make a difference because it was on there pretty good but you might check and see if it loosened up or something, might help with the issue a little
