  1. I might look into powder coating one of these days. Get an old oven, gun etc.., and go to town. How hard can it be right?
  2. Yea it's on really tight. I borrowed 3/4 impact from the shop and had to heat the nut with a little torch (not to much) and the impact slowly took it off. Any part drive train wise I go to C&M Gear Works, there here in town but I think they ship too, good people and prices. $80 for yoke, straps, and bolts. Only thing from oriellys was the seal.
  3. Little trick I used with mine, I painted the whole thing in the engine high heat paint from oriellys that I had laying around then sanded very carefully the tops of lettering and ridges, polished it then clear coat. Turned out awesome.
  4. I have never done this! Maybe I need to give it a try and see what happens.
  5. I can second getting a SOVP. I came from a dragon flow vp44, now a SOVP on a HO truck. DFVP44 is one of the biggest vp44's out there, made a TON of HP, but man they are a pain to deal with. Same goes with the hrvp44. Stay away from hrvp44's and go with the highly suggested sovp44. Edit/side note: HO trucks can use a SO pump but a SO truck can't use a HO pump.
  6. I didn't know how to add to @smokeythedodge thread he has already made so here we go. Please move where needed if required. I figured I could post some helpful part numbers/info along for those looking to replace a (2002) Dana 80 pinion seal and/or pinion yoke. Sometimes obtaining part numbers can be annoying and just plain difficult. I replaced my seal due it starting to leak more as than it had. Started leaking then stopped for awhile and now just started again so I bit the bullet and dove in for repairs. I have a *flanged yoke* aside from @smokeythedodge non-flanged yoke in his thread. I have attached pictures of parts/part numbers and including the carnage on my seal and yoke. Spicer Flanged yoke pn# 3-4-14391-1X Orielly's Pinion seal pn# 100727 If anyone wants an addition to the write up, including how to remove seal and install etc. lemme know. Need to start contributing more here and I have a couple of items in my pocket I could definitely explain and help with.
  7. AC noise check ---2nd this... I remember seeing it somewhere but cant recall where.
  8. Still trying to figure out my tuning problems...., everything else is up to par, however I am sitting at 11/12mpg Got work to do I'd suppose.
  9. I been wanting to get a spare head, I had one but stupidly sold it 3 years ago, then I can rebuild/port and polish as I go, hell maybe even Mill the intake off. Have everything ready to bolt on. I guess at that point just a spare engine that's freshly rebuilt with all the above wouldn't be a bad idea either. I love doing that stuff anyway.
  10. Electric vacuum pumps and direct drive PS pumps? I did not know this kind of sorcery existed! What a brilliant idea, not so easy on the pocket book, but definitely a route to consider next time since I already built vacuum pump and got a new PS pump...
  11. Used blue loctite in my sets and still nothing yet... Also didn't have to touch anything on my box, just bolt and go... too easy.
  12. I have one, I believe it helped a bit, also piece of mind. Anything to help the steering on these rigs... I'd suggest it.
  13. I called yesterday and sent you a text. I'm available anytime today, unless I'm running a call at the fire statio.
  14. Just me doodling around, how's this? I swear until I actually sit down with someone and go over this crap I'll never get it.... Hell, someone just come down and visit help this dummy figure it out, Ill get the hotel for ya and well have a merry ole time playing trucks.
  15. As I have mentioned before, I just wanted to clarify I'm not looking for smoke I just know that's the by product of higher Hp goodies etc, and we use the quad to clean it up and make all that fuel more usable. Im just simply concerned that its not smokey/smoking what have you with or without a tune- this being that I have 6x13's, low boost numbers to add and my egts need to get in check! Even it being a 60hp tuner and the timing change availability, one would think 325hp injectors and a 64/71/14 turbo would have a little spunk to say the least. Am I incorrect on assuming this? I guess its worth mentioning that these injectors are from one of the sets I previously tried with the other pump, I returned the others and the 7x15's and kept a set of the 6x13's to use with the sovp, hopefully they aren't bad from that previous use on that pump?
  16. My oh my, this truck is doggy. Such a huge difference in power - crazy. I used to have boost while driving around 7 psi on the hwy, now maybe 1 psi, and it doesnt spool at all - I goosed it and only got maybe 30 psi I moved the suggested timing from @Mopar1973Man down 1* and it seemed to help, but there should alot more we can do to improve, Im not sure on the other parameters. Truck is also really sluggish/doggy starting out. And for the life of me I just dont understand why there is NO smoke tuned or not tuned... I should say it more but Thank all of you for your help on this crazy adventure!
  17. @Mopar1973Man does that timing parameter section look ok? (First 2 pics)
  18. Kinda hard to follow for me but I got the drift, I really still do feel retarded trying to tune this quad Here's what I got, idk if some of the stuff is correct, whatever was there previously I left. I won't be using a TAP now so I don't have to worry about that stuff yet.
  19. Everything is installed and truck is running. Way different truck power wise, feels stock Quad is on Zero-0, I need to find out where to run this thing at with those 6x13's. Looking for a really peppy DD. Generous ideas? Still surprisingly there isn't really any smoke with these 6x13, I imagined before it all got here that it would be too smokey especially without quad input. Seems strange. Gonna take the first trip to work tomorrow, Check everything out on a longer drive, check for tank pressure too...
  20. I mean they were close just little tweaks here or there, they just ride really close to each other. I sat the first set (back) in first and got everything in place loosely then the first set same thing. Barely snugged them then kinda tweaked them. Their not perfect and don't just lay in there but I guess I'll have to live with it. I'm too scared to really bend them more to get a better fit. With this set I actually had to cut my bracket that the dip stick attaches to cause the line ran straight into it. None of the stock clamps or brackets work either...
  21. I got the cheaper ones, they were not bent right and was a pita to get them where they were not touching, they also are just in general bent a little different than stock... Ill post pics later. everything is in, new pump, lines, tubes, 6x13's, even dropped the tank and dumped it out made sure there were not any debris in there - pretty clean and also peace of mind, new filters too. So literally everything is new on the fuel system! Gotta prime it this evening and start it, fingers crossed... So since I have a 2 year warranty and cant tap the pump what should I run the quad at? Now that we certainly know what pump it is and injector size.
  22. New lines should be here fri, got them from accuritediesel.com Injection pump and other goodies from DAP should be here today. got everything thing off except injection pump. I have different tools i can use and have used before but I was wanting to make a puller just for the injection pump gear. Yes I know their not that expensive but I'm cheap and I kinda forgot to order one with the pump. So does anyone have the approximate center-to-center on the gear bolt holes and maybe overall width of tool. Id greatly appreciate it!!!
  23. @Mopar1973Man gold plated now that would be a sight! Lol. I totally understand where you're coming from and that's the price I'd like to pay from the others. Has anyone bought from these guys before? Never heard of them, kinda over cautious of buying from random companies, plus you never know what kinda product your getting.
  24. $380 - seems cheap? https://www.accuratediesel.com/dodge-cummins-5-9l-vp44-diesel-fuel-injection-line-set-24v-assembled-w/-clamps.html $663 https://puredieselpower.com/dodge-products/24v-second-gen-dodge-5.9l-cummins-vp44-factory-injection-lines.html $650 for stainless $550 mild steel https://www.scheiddiesel.com/1998.5-2002-Dodge-Cummins-Fuel-Line-Set-for-VP44/ $590 - mild steel https://www.dieselautopower.com/diesel-auto-power-vp44-steel-fuel-lines-standard-0-078-id-24visb-lines078 $571 - mild steel .078 https://haisleymachine.com/shop/diesel-truck-performance-parts/fuel-system/fuel-lines-line-kits/fuel-line-24-valve-oversize-bent/ Injector hold downs $17 each - should I get all new? Or just the one? https://puredieselpower.com/dodge-products/2nd-gen-24v-98.5-02/injectors-and-fuel-system-3/fuel-related-parts-2/24v-cummins-injector-hold-down-3940639.html
  25. That was what I was thinking too. We never re-use at John deere, but with our trucks that's sometimes not the case. These don't look so hot, I cleaned the one up to show the little step which I can catch a nail on, tells me it's bad. Confirmed my suspicions. Now I've looked but having a hard time finding a full set of lines, I can find p-pump lines all day but not vp44 lol.
