Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
Great stuff here! Yea PO said he pulled some with it, don't know class, but it is what it is at this point. So I didn't start working with the most street friendly stuff, now it's alot better from what I had, so on the bright side there's progress... Don't hate me for this but right now it's just a daily driver, didn't expect 20mpg or anything crazy, just something better than 6x18 and DF pump churnin ponies... So basically Id like a decently fun daily driver, don't think I'll get any better than that out of 6x13's... I may randomly tow here and there, kinda rare, but things can change, so tow tune can come later. If could get 15mpg that would be a huge jump, and cruise 600* egt would be a nice. Any better than that--icing on the cake! I'll try this fuel curve now about to head home. I agree with @LorenS little tidbits like he mentioned would be great to keep on hand.

I didn't think ot would be but I wanted to double check. Maybe at some poontoon I could save for compounds... Ive always really wanted to put some in...I think re-gearing is the next big step possibly. So I'm prolly just worried to much when i shouldnt be , running 750-850 cruising on the hwy.

Well @Mopar1973Man with what @Me78569 has put together tune wise, I am at 21.5-22* cruise timing. That should suffice correct? Im not sure what to mess with next really. I know this isnt a tow tune but from what I have now I cant imagine what temps will be with a trailer behind it. Just tossing out ideas, what kinda littler/ cheap turbo could I put with it to help out? Or if its even worth talking about with this turbo... And I freaking keep forgetting to make the thread for the wastegate.

I put canbus fuel back to 90%+1 and run that again with all same settings I guess. Last time I tried all three setups 70, 90, 100 starting and it really didn't make a difference egt wise, little higher with the 100 but pretty close. Is 700-800 an acceptable temp for me? Maybe I'm hoping for to much? Fyi Just filled up, ~ 13 mpg... The 90% doesn't smoke bad at all starting out/ getting on it. The cruise temps is what I'm focusing on, is that the best way to go about it?

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
No matter if I choose 90% +1, or starting at 70%+ 2%, seems to still run and average hot, 700 -750 ish. I have like 3 or 4 spots that have a short section of flat, rest of it varies very slightly but makes my egts jump extremely quickly. So egts is my only complaint so far, smoke output is really good - 100 times better. Still has a haze though when taking off or building back speedfrom a down shift etc - not black haze however... I've tried to move max load up or down one, timing reduct up or down one, and of course the canbus fueling at 70 & 90, but haven't really seen any changes that I can notice.

Here is some data logging from this morning, short snippet cruising to work and the other should be pedal to the floor 2nd and up. Boost numbers are low though? Lack of fuel? Cruise Temps were 700* plus this morning coming into work... iQuad-2022-04-04-05.07.32-146142643.csv iQuad-2022-04-04-05.00.141743032035.csv

Well truck does alot better with a closed wastegate! 630-670* at cruise is my rough average so far. This is with 90% canbus plus 1% up. 100% and 1% up is about 650-690* at cruise. Very light smoke 2nd and 3rd on normal take off, that's fine. While cruising I usually hover 750-850* due to minor road fluctuations very slight inclines this truck catches them really quick... Getting on the interstate it hits average 1100* really quick but alot better with closed WG. I should have my first tank of fuel gone through with this tune, this week. If I can 15mpg I'd be happy lol. Trucks never seen such thing. Possible unrealistic wish list: Stay under 1000* majority of the time passing or on ramp. 16-18mpg mild-daily driver Room too add a tid bit more fuel for a playful weekend trips to town. I'm gonna make another thread for alternate wastegate options I believe. I'll update through the week.

Tailgate bushings
Ahh those plastic ones are fine. I got a new set plus new cables sittings in the pile from when I thought I could put a bed on my truck... Plus plastic moves/slicker easier than rubber 🤣

Quadzilla won't connect grrrr
I use the Bluetooth connection for mine... Don't guess it makes a difference really.

Opinion needed - intercooler boots.
I'm pretty sure mine are the vulcans from DAP. Goodstuff so far, recommended 😁

Well I'd like to use what I got, add on to or what ever if that's the case. These are new injectors, and freshly rebuilt turbo. If I could find a CHEAP turbo and oil Iines for compounds I could prolly build my own piping... It's a dream currently lol. The boss might not approve of TWO turbos lol. @Me78569 I'm assuming your talking about the "old" tune 2* max load 5* timing reduct 50% scale 2* cruise And the latest timing 15, 19, 25, 28, 30 90% + 1% canbus fueling Honestly I'm still trying to wrap my head around the tuning parts. Like which way do i move what on what to start? Like a flow chart for kids It all really really intrigues me, but it's confusing at times! I still need to educate myself more on the data logging and figuring out how to graph it all cause that's just neat! And right up my OCD alley

Well, I have to look like a jack a$$, eat crow, so the walk of shame...... Pulled truck in the shop before leaving leaving work, going to wire the WG shut. WG rod was hanging there! Broke or unthreaded... I just wired it shut so I could get home. Shook my head the whole way home.... I wouldn't say it's been like that the whole time, and honestly hard to really catch in the scheme of things. I'm glad it was mentioned and caught. That rod was just dragging on the oil drain no way I could go that route again so options needed. Best idea I could think of was WG rotated inside its housing along with vibrating on the drain and came loose? Idk, here nor there, this is where I'm at... Here's driving home, 90% +1%, same timing and all. This is from the gas station home, on ramp to interstate, short flat area, long down hill and up hill, then I goosed it a bit on the back road home. It was raining pretty good too so that didn't help. iQuad-2022-03-30-05.46.471650855078.csv Still not the best but better than what I had. I believe there's room for improvement here. I only hit 35 psi on the little side road romp, kinda low I'd say... So feeling like a jack wagon I have to ask where do I go from here? -New WG idea -timing and other influential -cheap twins, New turbo

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
Thats not a bad idea. just dont get crazy with it haha... I have never wired one shut, might be self explanatory but I assume just wrap from wire around the shaft some how and tie it off to something close by...Something on the engine.

Before I put it back on I tested all that and it did work. Now with it on the truck and all hooked up, I checked it all again maybe 2 months ago and it did move back and forth. I tried to set it to open at 40 the first time then 50 the second time just as a starting point. The rod in my opinion (never really like it to begin with) didn't move like it should do to the clearance issue with it attached to the actuator, with it unhooked yes it moves freely, if anything problems would be actuator or the rod clearance I believe. I will add to list for today to recheck movement and psi, maybe Ill try a video...

I completely understand, but this is only for me trying to find out a daily tune that it fuel and egt friendly. After that is confirmed then I can adjust and make a fun play tune. * If I'm understanding correctly what your meaning? Lol, either or constructive criticism is good in any aspect of learning Just for informational purposes, here's pics before I cleaned up and rebuilt turbo and install the dap drain line; to get an idea of what have while we consider wastegate being a culprit. If there's a different option, I'm in!

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
It is wastegated, how ever I when I re-built the turbo and installed the steel braided line from DAP I had interference problems with the rod. I adjusted what I could but dont think its how it should be... I dont know if it was on her or talking with moparman, but I wanted to pull the wastegate off and put a different setup on or something IDK advice?? Ill re-check for any boost leaks with my system pressurizer I built... I REALLY want too!!! But $$$ on the heavy pull, probably already realize it, but I really didnt get into it per say... Think my rebuilt turbo is going kaputts? Or wastegate is being stupid lol... I guess if its stuck open a bit then everything down low wont see any air really... So need advice on wastegate delete....

iQuad-2022-03-30-06.33.45-282608138.csviQuad-2022-03-30-06.14.16951267786.csv Heres 2 data logs from this morning, export messed up again so idk what is what but one should be a med-heavy take off and one is cruising hwy. Pic is cruising with the 15, 19, 25, 28, 30 and canbus fuel starting at 90% and up by 1% from there. Seemed a little better than before but still doggy and if I touched the pedal 1200+ super quick to jump up on egts. Its been a min since I tried the stock settings or default tune. Ill have to try those real quick after work, but im not holding my breath lol.

I was totally on the same track as you this morning, however this afternoon Im thinking otherwise. Isn't 70% the lowest canbus setting; Or the lowest usable percentage? As I mentioned earlier, thinking outside the box, since it has practically fell on its face with the fuel drop and timing jump; maybe adding fuel to aid in spool will help. As one would think take fuel out to lower it all, I did and not much changed so maybe go the other way...? I'll try any and all advice, I won't bat an eye at any of it, just more discussion at the round table might produce some interesting results.
-
Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
Idk really, I hope there's nothing latched to it. I think it would be more evident if it was though, not sure just wishful thinking. Idk what to do now... I guess maybe start at 100% and go up with same timing and see what happens. Unless someone has any different suggestions.
-
Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
What else could it be? The other timing I had put in I atleast had full pedal to work with, now it just falls flat, hardly any boost at all. It seemed to have some get up around 3k but it had fuel then... maybe 70% is too low? Me and Moparman discussed the slim possibility of previous owner having a smarty locked on to it, but I'd say that's a very slim chance... I'm losing it here... I just wanna drive the dang thing...

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
It sucks cause these guys have always treated me good and I like their service, these injectors are brand new for all intensive purposes, can't afford to just get another set unfortunately... This is true, I'd like to add another turbo but it seems this one is too much in the middle for everything. To big for primary and to small for secondary. Never had twins before so it would be a learning curve but we'll worth it... You know I was thinking the same thing this morning, I actually text @Mopar1973Man sun or mon about too little fuel, thinking i was crazy. It makes sense honestly. Not go to wild, maybe start at 100 an go up by 2%...?? If I do that I wonder if I should keep that current timing listed above... That's prolly a @Me78569 question...

@tucothelegend my egt probes are exactly where yours are. I mean this is the 6th set of injectors so they could be not spraying/atomizing correctly causing fuel dump, which I have had during all this in the start. Idk what I could do for the exhaust out? Hood stack 🤣🤣 Got the 5in tbe plus pdi manifold. As far as boost goes, when I had DF pump, comp box, 6x18's, (same turbo) I pegged the 60 psi gauge. Truck ran great! Smoked like a friggin frieght train though jeezz Currently idk? It will flow it yes but nothing is set to kill mode yet and obviously figuring this out will help I'd be happy with 600* cruising and not going over 1200 with some pedal... Lord help me if I actually tapped the pump and threw some fuel at it right now, it'd just burn down... I figured the truck would smoke with these injectors and I could clean it up with quad. Never once has it smoked (rolled coal) getting on it with any iquad setup, like one would think or see. Yea it will have some puffs but 6x13s come on...it should be very smokey/evident- "as the nature of the beast"... that being said, why isn't it?

Well drive wasn't so good, had absolutely no power getting up to speed, thought I might have to pull off interstate, even pedal to the floor-nothing. Acts Like it's an apps issue but it's not. Somethings not jiving in this setup. @Me78569 Timing was as mentioned: 15, 19, 25, 28, 30 - (30 is max fyi) Took pics of the readings again, tried to export the data log when I got home but the app crashed...crashes.... I have my canbus fueling starting really low, left that the same for this test.

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
The turbo has been on for 6 years or so, just rebuilt it last year. If yall remember I had those 6x18's and the dragon flow when everything went down hill; after the 5th or sixth set of 6x13's with in the last couple months these seem to be doing ok as far as no misfire etc. So there pretty much new I'd say. I have a mechanical egt gauge in my pillar pod and then the digital egt through the iquad, both are roughly the same, mechanical might be a few degrees higher but nothing crazy. Not to say they cant be wrong, when I firt got the iquad the egt gauge quit working so got a warranty replacement and so good so far, the mechanical gauge does "stop" once in a blue moon, tap the kick panel and its back on haha... Ill try that additional cruise timing, if I remember right last time I had timing up in the 21* range my engine load increased and so did egts, but this timing change might help so well see.
-
Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
That sounds like a plan, Ill plug that in when I leave work today and check it out. So I assume Id be taking out the cruise timing to 0*.... Leaving 2k at 19* will still keep me in the same ball park for egts though?
