Watch Yer Spare Tire Winch
To me it's not worth the risk after googling/ reading about 'spare tire came loose on my Dodge Ram', without something to hold it in place. The small rust prone cable is the common cause. So I hooked the right length of chain across and put on a small chain binder.

gosh dabnabbit.. can't we have a normal 'fall'?
How much earlier than average is this looming snow storm? Signs of a wild ride winter?

This guys bad deal all around IMHO, he should be jumpin all over it to get it resolved. Here it's Friday now and no credit yet.....He's just damaging his reputation further by delaying.

Watch Yer Spare Tire Winch
Mike, I just can't trust that cheesy little cable with other peoples lives on the highway. It's really cheesy IMHO. I don't live in salted road country and it's showing signs it won't last long with the amount of rust at the dog bone end. Then what's actually holding it from coming unraveled anyway? You don't hear any positive clicking sound like a ratchet wrench or boat winch sound?

Strange bobbing of the fuel pressure gauge?
What are JIC fittings? Like I said, yours seems fairly normal as mine will do the same thing only it does seems a bit more prone to pressure drop than mine. I've noticed over time my Raptor 100 has gotten more and more like yours.... like it's.a bit more tired than it used to be as miles pile up. What are some of the old Draw straw problems? Mine is the first prototype?

Strange bobbing of the fuel pressure gauge?
Watched the video and my Raptor 100 does the same thing. If I get to a hill it will drop a couple when adding light pedal pressure. Yours does seem a we bit more sensitive.... Do you have 1/2 inch lines all the way, including 1/2'' draw straw?

I didn't know they made P-7100 Starter Motors. He he Sorry MnTom just couldn't resist- Watch Yer Spare Tire Winch
There are reports on the net about the winch cable failing from rust or the 'dog bone' rusting thru and loosing the spare wheel. In some cases near fatal accidents have happened. Other reports are that the winch won't come down leaving folks stranded without a spare. Todays project is to mod this problem out of the equation.- continious tire shop trouble
Hick tires sounds pretty good to me Joe. Got to be a whole lot better people there anyways. I think I know the one your talking about even though never been there.- continious tire shop trouble
yes JoeCool I hear ya totally. It was Les Schwab in Molalla. The one in Oregon City screwed up in a big way many years ago. The guy doing the work got fired, but, there was other ways they do business that just was bad. Les Schwab won't be getting my biz again either... this Molalla store just opened the old wound. Thought I'd give them a try since seem to be having a hard time lately finding an honest shop. Now where to go next time?- continious tire shop trouble
Wonder where they find these guys working at these places. Yesterday I went in for getting a flat fixed and to place a matching rim, I recently bought to match all the other wheels, put on the spare. The guy acts like I'm a waste of time for him and his shop. Then when they got done the spare was installed crooked enough that it would have come loose eventually loosing it on the highway. They seem to only care about the bigger sales since they have profit sharing.... well when I need a new set, I won't be going back there either. You would think since they recognized I have 2 trucks, with the work they did, that take a relatively expensive set of tires, that they would be motivated to some degree. I gave these guys a try since I've had so very many troubles with other shops in the past.- Can't believe I did this
Oh Man, I hope you get it out of there. These trucks are still worth 18 grand in nice shape. That's according to Craigslist and driving around seeing them for sale. I guess it's cause they look better than any other generation dodge IMHO.- Annoying squeek in steering column starting to get to me
'Ride On'! Thanks to all you guys, I feel confident I will pinpoint it now. Rancherman you got to be the one with the roughest roads too, I would imagine.- Annoying squeek in steering column starting to get to me
It squeaks with road bumps. So just get silicone spray lube and go to work on it, right? Only spray a little at a time in order to figure out where it coming from.- Annoying squeek in steering column starting to get to me
Thanks MnTom. The auto shift linkage, where I think the squeak emanates from, is outside the tube also, right?- Trade?
I end up very surprised when I hear anyone say they are having injectors changed at under 200 k. Sometimes guys seem to act like it's no big deal/ are like spark plugs you change every so often. On my 1st gen I'm still on the originals with over 400 k. It's got a Racor 30 micron w/s prefilter is all.- Trade?
That's why I kept my 1st gen rather than trading it in. That first gen gets most of the real work and surprised how well it's held up. My question is why have the second gens held such a tremendous value. They don't seem to depreciate much in other words.- Annoying squeek in steering column starting to get to me
Thank you. That's an idea and moving the tilt too. To see if squeak changes. I don't think it's a worn bushing as the truck came with this squeak with only 29 k miles. I took the covers off before looking for something but chickened out on spraying any oil inside there. Would it hurt wiring or anything to spray some lube down the column tube?- Annoying squeek in steering column starting to get to me
Had my 02 now for 7,8 years and never been able to stop the rough road squeak coming from the steering column. I think that's the source, but, difficult to pinpoint except that the squeak slows down/ almost goes away when I push forward on the auto trans shift lever. I think this is why this truck was available/ very low miles at the time of purchase. Squeek did not bother me then but now seems like my ears are on auto focus.- The secret behind a turbo....
Now I see.... that's the only location of a 'spin zone' around here....- Watch the weather for this winter.....
If yesterdays unusual August rain was an indication.... man it rained so hard for about 30 mins. Washed out some of my road and I've never seen raindrops plop down so large before. I think some came from that last hurricane from the Mexico coast that dissipated northward. It was cool as I watched one of the biggest monster looking clouds develop right over us. - code p1689, no vp needed
