  1. Very unlikely. I dont think I have ever heard of one going bad. First, get a mechanical test/pressure gauge on there to verify that your electric sender isnt just bad again. Then, if the pressure still bounces on the mechanical gauge, you can go about figuring out if it is the pump that is going, or something else.
  2. Hey guys and gals. Over the next week or so I am going to start taking care of some preventative maintenance stuff on the Ram. I am looking at flushing the power steering, brakes, and changing the transmission fluid. Those are the only fluids I havent changed since I have owned the truck so I have no idea how old they are. Does anyone know about how much power steering fluid it will take to flush and refill? Also how much to flush the brake system front to back? I am going to switch the power steering fluid over to Amsoil full synthetic and the brake system I just put synthetic DOT 3 back in. I will try to get a hold of Amsoil synchromesh for the tranny. Thanks all!!
  3. Sounds like you have had quite the adventure with that old car. Up until I got my 01 Ram, all I had were old cars like that. First on was a 1989 chev 1 ton duelly. Then was a 1986 Ranger, and my 1976 Ford F-250. The Dad-in-law actually had a 1991 ford crown vic. Probably about the same exact model as your lincoln. That thing was one cool car but he traded in in on a new lincoln.
  4. Glad you are able to take advantage of the knowledge here and from Mike. Welcome from North Dakota! Hope to see ya around the site.
  5. I would agree with finding a timing box. A timing box plus a boost elbow and you should be able to get your EGT's in check a lot easier.
  6. Could just be some condensation in the stock housing if you arent running through it anymore. If you are still running through the stock housing, just crack the drain valve on the stock filter canister open until you see good fuel coming out the drain tube underneath. You might bump the starter a couple times then it should start right back up.
  7. Thanks rancherman. I have been getting more noise out of the transmission lately and I am hoping new fluid will quiet it down. I am sure it is bearings as the noise gets louder as the tranny warms up. The noise stops if you push in the clutch. Sounds like it is coming from right underneath the front seats. I had an old ford ranger with bad bearings inside the 5 speed gear box and drove it like that for years. I guess I will have to get this NV5600 rebuilt someday.... Its always something isnt it?
  8. Glad you were able to get that pressure checked. I have heard tons of stories of isolators not working correctly. They are a good concept but I wouldnt trust one. Just my personal preference of course.
  9. We just opened our second Wally World here in GF. That picture is about what it looked like in town yesterday!
  10. Must have been the storm that hit us yesterday. Hit Fargo worse but it was heading your way. I think we are finally in the clear around here. Supposed to start getting up to the 40's and 50's in the day time now. Its about time too!!
  11. Racing is an expensive sport. No doubt about that. Glad he made it out ok and the block being good is always a plus.
  12. I agree with either buying or renting a mechanical gauge. At this point, it could be the Lift pump going bad, your gauge is bad, the isolator could be causing problems, etc. Double check with a straight mechanical gauge before you do anything and that will point you in the right area.
  13. Just had a quick question about tranny fluids for the NV5600. I am looking at changing everything over to synthetic slowly and was wondering what synthetic fluids, if any, are recemmended for the NV5600. What is everyone running or what would you run? Thanks all!!
  14. Even at $85 per hour shop labor time it shouldnt have been more than like $500 total. I would be talking to the family member...
  15. I think the RV275's are about a 40-45 hp over stock. They are like the next step down from the 50's. If you want a nice power and mileage bump, either one would work very well for you.
  16. You might just try dropping a gear whenever you need to accelerate or pull the hill. I dont think its recommended to pull in 6th anyway. I usually have no problem pulling anything up grades in 5th with my truck. That includes my camper on every pass in Montana. Did all of them at 65 easy and kept egts around 1000-1100 degrees.
  17. If you check into the HE351 you could have the option for the exhaust brake. I think you have to mess around with the controller for it but I think it would be a worth while investment.
  18. All I am saying is from personal experience I noticed a big pressure drop after I put in one of those filters. Did you run the fass with AND without the inline filter to see the difference?
  19. Before I went and put a full spin on filter before my raptor, I tried putting a cheap in line filter in. It made my pressure drop about 3-4 psi or so. I took that inline filter out and the pressure came back up. I think those little inline filters are just to much of a restriction for a pump and lines this size. I now have either a Baldwin BF1212 or Fleetguard FS1212 before the raptor and I have never seen a pressure drop from that.
  20. We finished out the night with 18-20 inches of snow!!! Just insane how much snow can fall in a 24 hour period up here.
  21. I have gotten over 8 inches of that white stuff here in the last 3 hours. Cant see the gas station across the street and its supposed to continue until at least 7am tomorrow.
  22. Maybe the chickens are finally getting revenge....
  23. One thing, never believe what the computer in the truck tells you. Always hand calculate the mileage just to be sure. Even if the computer in the ford says he makes that good of mileage, Ill bet he isnt really making that kind of mileage in real life. Hand calculate yours and his, THEN compare
  24. Thats really good!!! I love it when things like that happen. A few days ago I had someone pull up next to me at a stop light and start beating on my window because he wanted to teach me a lesson. Just minding me own business and that happens. People never cease to amaze me. He never did make it through the window. Took off from the light. No plate on his car or anything. Just crazy.
  25. They came from the factory with a spacer on one side? What was the purpose of that?
