sorry i started this in intro section, i need advice , truck is 01 cummins 4x4 extended cab, current mods are edge juice 4in exhaust afe intake horn, fass 150 built trans billet input shaft tripple disc converter,borgwarner 62/68/12sxe turbo, it has either rv 275 or 75 hp injectors. truck is very smoky with any pedal input under 1700 rpm,could i get some advice please

Turbo is a little big for rv275s, no surprise it’s laggy in the lowers rpms. Also, with larger injectors, it could be smokey too till the turbo lights. 

 

Smokey with edge off?

 

I think you said you already did a boost leak test?

 

A low stall torque converter could also play a factor.

That 7 x 0.010 injectors and a Quadzilla would be the awesome setup on your current turbo. You'll be able to defuel the Quadzilla enough to build boost and get the turbo lit then cut it loose with a wire tap and extra fuel.

Exactly what my design is all about. I don't care to make big HP. I want a clean daily driver. Comparing the Edge Comp (or Edge Juice) to the Quadzilla you'll find the fuel control is way better on the Quadzilla allowing for smoke-free tunning. Then timing to get the MPG's up where they belong. The other factor since you can set fuel BELOW stock level you can reduce the amount of stress on the driveline components where Edge products don't have this ability.

I think the common factor is everyone just jumps out and buys parts because everyone is buying this or that. Truthfully you have to build to fit all your hardware. Like you can just go out and buy a big turbo thinking you going to make a gain. Turbo is based on the amount of fuel being burned. Then tuners and timing also affect the turbo behavior. I've was taught long ago with V8 Mopar's you can't just take a stock 400 CID with a 2 barrel Holley 600 CFM carburetor and drop on a 1050 CFM 4 barrel. There has to be supporting mods to make that carburetor function its best. That brings us around turbo, injectors, and tuners. This is only the surface. Then you got to factor in tires size, gear ratio, transmission type, lift kits and truck common purpose. Still to this day I'm slowly been working the power up a little at a time and find what is weak or what needs to be upgraded. 

 

Still to this day I see people jump out and buy a huge turbo, set of large injectors and a tuner. The lift kit the truck and put on 35" tires and then wonder why it smokey, breaking driveline parts and has no MPG now. :rolleyes:

With all those supporting mods, the engine operating rpm will have to be increased. 

The off-idle power is very poor while trying to spin up a big compressor & turbine, even with lots of fuel.

How would he increase the engine operating rpm range?
