Water in fuel, light. Truck died on me.

Water in fuel light came on when I was in town. Wating to get home till I would drain the filter. But I came to a stop sign and the truck just died. So I drained both filters. Put fresh fuel in the filters. But the light is still on, I tried to start it. Nothing

Did you prime the system since you drained the fuel filter? Cycle the key 5-6 times to refill and prime?

 How long did you drive with the water in fuel light on?

About 125 miles. I’ll see about the priming. I was wondering if the truck would lock out on it’s own

Both filters? Meaning the air dog filter and the stock filter on the engine?

I deleted the stock filter on the truck. But it was both the fuel filter and water separator.

I don't have an AD so this might sound like a dumb question, but how do you get a  light with the stock filter deleted?

 The AD would be the air dog pump/filter system listed in your sig.

 I to am curious @dave110 how he would get a water in fuel.light with the oem filter deleted.

Same question, how did you get a WIF light with a deleted WIF sensor?

I thought it plugged in to the air dog. The I just removed the filter off the truck.

And the fuel tank gauge is not working right. It doesn’t go above 1/4 tank even after I fill it up. I just figured I was gonna have to replace the sending unit

I didn’t think to check. The check engine light didn’t come on

Many codes won't trip a CEL. I would check with a decent code reader and report back. I hate to say it but a delayed  is a sign of a failing ECM. I'm leaning towards electronic issues but lets see what codes if any are stored.

You just changed the filters, did you need to unplug a WIF sensor to do that?

I want to know too...

 

On the other hand I get this light to come on once in awhile when it rains, the plug is just hanging there, I did fill it full of dielectric grease, but still sometimes rain trips the light.

Now your truck died at same time so you got something else going on, unless you were really able to plug that sensor in to ad. Or you have 2 separate issues.
