Post Mod Trans Issue

Recommended Posts

He said possibly sooner, but they’ve been overestimating the lead times bc of so many shipping delays…also his best 47re guy is on a hunting trip this week and I told him not to start until that guy is back.

Also talked to the tc builder. He said “billet billet” means a machined billet cover and a cnc billet clutch piston with a larger clutch. He also said nobody else calls it that and if anything to refer to it as an HD single billet.

Hmm. Upgraded governor support? No governor in 47re. Sonnax valve body with transgo recall kit? The sonnex is already an improved valve body. Why both? The diesel tranny already has the heavy duty planetary gears. Is overdrive clutch going to have the extra disc kit installed? Some torque converters are a rebuilt dodge modified with a power stroke lock up clutch better than stock not as strong as triple disc but much less $. You might want to ask more questions and shop around.

Good eye. That list was from notes I took on my phone while we talked. The Transgo recal kit comes on the standard rebuild, the new valve body comes on the upgraded rebuild I chose, I just wrote it down and didn’t delete it. Thanks for the good questions to ask. The builder implied the HD single was a good in between option if I didn’t plan on more than 400hp, and that he’d recommend a billet input shaft if I did the triple disc.

Yea I would loved to have used Dynamics stuff, it just wasn’t feasible from a logistics perspective. So I’m working with these guys around here, and making sure they use the parts I pick. The warranty seems legit based on other reviews. I found the builders Facebook page but I’m not on Facebook. https://m.facebook.com/dieselconverter/

This morning my truck wouldn’t shift into 4th gear without letting off the throttle, actually got worse as the truck got warmer. Then, it almost stalled at a red light,  and I realized it hadn’t downshifted to 1st. Checked the trans oil (less than 3,000 miles) and it’s good and dark red, but smells burnt. Wanted to get a good list from the forum of things to check before I send it to a shop. This is 3 weeks post WT mod, which IMHO has been the single best mod I’ve done to the truck. No codes. I’m going to reset the TIMBO apps.

Have you verified that the trans shifted into 1st? Have you tried unplugging the electrical connector, and driving the truck? if you remove the electric connector, the valve body should shift between the first 3 gears.

From other replies, call John at Dynamic and plug his brain. I had to have him rebuild my valve body after a botched built aftermarket trans by another company. Hes a great guy, and can help you out.

I would say so. But very hard to say when. As someone on here has said I think the tranny temp gauge. And working hard or not to get tp 150 degrees tells you a lot about the torque converters condition.  And the bottom of the pan and your fluids color and condition. If it’s slipping it will make heat and that’s very bad for the transmission.  Just my 2 cents

Things just don't wear that much driving 55 :sofa:

Thanks DF, I'm not that bad... I drive with the flow till everyone is ten over because Im usually just 6/7 over. I try not going over in the 65 MPH areas (highest in Oregon). There is no traffic enforcement in Oregon any more so I try to give others a chance to pull out on an otherewise chain of tailgatting speeders so prevailant today.

How come there's no traffic enforcement, do you just get tickets through phone app and that's how they track your speed. Or is  everyone on strike because of what's going on. Around here you're pretty safe if you stay under 10 miles over, after that it's a Gamble. In Chicago area it's more like 20 over, no one cares there.

Around here it's like the traffic officer's have been budgeted out of a job. As if there is only one traffic enforcement officer which you never see hardly. Friday's seem to bring out the driving Demons. You stay home those days if your an obedient driver (5-7 over). As for the tickets, I can't answer that since I haven't gotten a ticket in 35 years. LOL.

With the price of fuel out here I'm now dropping back below 65 MPH and heading to 55 MPH when the traffic is light enough to do it. Just remember Biden shut down the one pipeline so he getting ready to shut down the second one soon be ready for 5 dollar a gallon for fuel really soon here.

Just all the green new deal. Get every one away from fuel. So what about gear oil for axles on electric cars? How about grease for steering components? You will never be able to shut down oil completely. Just will never happen.

This is true.  The Government will always need a supply of petroleum jelly, IE: Vaseline, to help ease the pain when they're sticking it to you. 419853215_animated-smileys-astonished-221.gif.92d5e99e71bacf6d8f67e8856a8034eb.gif This is your Government caring for you.
