Since the 05 is just a backup rig and tow rig primarily it has not been used a lot the last couple years, "7500 miles on it since the last service August of 2014" . Decided since the steering is getting loose it was time to get her on the hoist and look her over and do a major end to end service including all filters all fluids except coolant, did a t-stat last service and it was replaced with new then and adjust trans bands. Pulled the steering gear out and sending it to Blue top steering steering for a "Quality" rebuild since this is already a cardone replacement several years ago and already loose as a goose. Herding cats down the road in a straight line would be …

I am pretty sure I know what it is but wanted to get y'all's opinion as well. I drove from outside Challis to Kuna, ID yesterday. The first 55 miles was dirt and then the next 170 miles of pavement everything was smooth as butter. Speeds up to 80+ at short times but cruising (if you can call it that on mountain roads) at 55-70 for a lot of it. Came to a stop at the intersection of 17/55 and got onto 55 and noticed a bouncing that was the worst at 35-40 mph. It smoothed out a little by 55-60 but I didn't push it past 60. There is no vibration below 30-35 and rpms have no effect (i.e. lug in a tall gear or 3K in a lower gear). I am thinking a tire might be dela…

I have been hearing a slight knock when I hit bumps and occasional clunk at full steering lock up, finally got under the truck to check it out and there is a little play in the steering gear shaft, I'm not talking about rotational play, it has linear play and pump is starting to leak fluid ... I have been checking prices and wanted to check here if anyone has any other recommendations asides replacing it and if replacing it is the best option do we have any vendors here or discounts that we can get as members ? I found that DPP (Diesel Power Products) carries them at $389.00 and have an option to differ core charge which means no core charge as long as core is shipped wit…

I am having problems with the lights on my 04 3500. My driver side low beam does not work, and has not worked for a while now. I have been told it could be the Body Control Module. Two of my ID lights on the cab went out on me recently so i installed all 5 new ones and the park lamp relay. Now i have lost all of my running lights except for the driver side front one. Has anyone had any simmilar problems with their 3rd gen? Could it be the Body Control Module? Thanks for the help!

Well I`m driving home this evening and realize that my vents are not changing status, and I can`t get into defrost mode. It seems like I have read before about 3rd gens having a notorious air diverter door? But I have no idea where it is located or how hard its going to be to get to. Has anyone had the opportunity to deal with this before??

I've came upon a 2009 dodge Cummins with the bluetech and truck has 110,000 miles on it. The truck is all stock still has all the egr and dpf stuff on it, and took a look at the turbo and was a little dirty but not an excessive amount. I did have a buddy of mine that works for dodge here in my local town and he said everything seemed fine on the truck. I am needing some help in making sure I purchase a good truck what would be some things to watch out for thank you.

Okay so I have decided I'm gonna go ahead and give up my 2nd gen for a 2005 4x4 with 127,000 miles with the 48RE. What would be things I need to look into before I pull the trigger on buying it? I did get this image to see if anyone knows what it means sorry about how not visible it is.

I have a 1999 2nd gen with 112,000 miles with 5 speed and 4x4 with some few upgrades. Considering trading with some difference of money for a 2005 auto 4x4 with 126,000 miles and all stock. What would be some good opinions and things to watch out for if I do decide to go the route of changing

  14. I am looking to locate where the fuse or relay is on my 2007 5.9 3500 Ram. I have searched hi and low to no avail so hope someone can give me some good direction. This truck has the TIPM module and there is no indication on the cover of a fuse for the fuel or lift pump. My dealer is a bit shakey but indicates the fuel pump which is located in the tank is controlled in the solid state circuitry of the TIPM so there is no assessable fuse or relay. If true and if I want to disable the fuel pump for a test I would have to find the connector somewhere back by the fuel tank and disconnect. Is this the situation or is there another more accurate procedure?

Goes by the name of Raceme tuners. Seems they only support 07 and newer from my research and they do have delete software too. Looks to be a foreign co. http://raceme.eu/, looks funny that they sell BBI injectors which begs the question of is it Smartys way of getting around some rules or is it a true copy cat company? Seems to be suspicious. http://www.racemetuners.com/

I've got a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. There is no error codes presently and rail pressure is a max of roughly 5,000 psi and at idle its start to surge dropping as low as 1,900 PSI on the rail. I know this is not enough rail pressure at all for normal operation. I've changed the FCA without any change in pressure or operation. Where to go next?

Someone gave me a copy of Amsoil Cetane Booster additive and a question popped up. I have read in the past that the cetane rating should be about 50 in grade 2 for a good performance. In the past I read ULSD is more towards 40 to 45. I have yet to hear of anyone using this Amsoil Cetane booster, let alone the actual results of it's use. Had anyone used it ? What did you fine out ? I plan on a 5k round trip early next year and was thinking of trying it for my 1st time. Could same me money or problems if someone knows my answers. Any help ?

  19. Started by AlCorr,

I just went out and tried to start the 04 truck, the first cold morn of the season and I know the batteries were a bit low. It turn over slow then stopped, nothing, won't turn over at all. Now with the key out there is a small red light near the oil gauge and a buss noise going on and off. I never seen anything like this before. Help!
