Going through Genos latest Magazine I came across something I had never seen nor had I ever read of this issue before. Has anyone seen or heard of a t-case housing that cracked due to lack of support? https://www.genosgarage.com/product/adapt-a-case-transfer-case-support-bracket-tc48reac/transfer-case

I simply would like an educated opinion about the reliability of a 03,04 vs 98-2002.......(also which 3rd gen year is the most reliable) The truck will be used to pull a camper and some daily driving. I have owned a 2002 6 speed, so I know common issues with these trucks....vp44, auto trany ect.... I know there are many variables, such as, how the truck has been taken care of. But are the common problems between the years a wash? ....I have read about injector issues in the 3rd gen. I have been looking for a truck for about a month, I have read so much that I have confused myself. So I thought I would come here to get some opinio…

Any reason not to stick with my OEM Y steering?MOOG replacement parts are $217 to my door, and I don't need a new stabilizer (less than 40K on a Bilstien 5100), or pitman arm. T steering appears to be $340+ the pitman arm and stabilizer for OEM and maybe $75 less for MOOG. I have 125K on my OEM steering and it's never given me DW or any issues. I do plenty of towing/dirt road driving, etc... not a single complaint other than it's starting to wonder a little now. Will MOOG last as long as OEM? I've also been told to look at NAPA parts, which I generally HATE buying, and they are just under 2x the cost of MOOG. Generally price and quality are directly correlate…

Last weekend was a fun one for sure. It started off with a towing trip to the edge of the Frank Church Wilderness. I was loaded up at a light 23,320 lbs. It's a 260 mile tow but there are 2 notable grades to pull. The first is Horseshoe Bend Hill on Hwy 55. It's about a 3.25 mile pull that averages a little over 5% but has about 2 miles of 7% as well. Depending on traffic I usually pull this grade anywhere from 55-60. Since I knew I was a little heavier than I normally am I wanted to see how the truck did and ran it at 60, which in 5th is about 2300 rpms. Normal camping weight (19-20K max) puts me at about 80-85% load, but not this t…

i think it's about time for a new one. mine is starting to leak. on my 08. I've read in a few places to get the stock Mopar one w/the bearing at one end. and i've read other places that just a good one from napa/autozone/etc will be just as good. is the rancho or bilstein or fox really worth the coin?

Truck is my dads 09. He's not in good shape health wise so I've been running the truck the last week or two getting it ready to sell. The EGR's been unplugged for a few years and has helped a lot, but I plugged it back in so the CEL would go away before I list it and it did as usual and has been out for a few days. Today I got a CEL for a 245A code, something to do with turbo solenoid voltage. I cleared it and it stayed out for now, but it's only been 15 mi. or so. Any idea what it means and what to look for? Reminds me again why I refuse to get rid of my 99

With most of us running aftermarket filters, that are meant for OTR trucks or tractors, how do we calculate the life of the filters? one would think these filters are designed to be by the amount of gallons they filter, not miles driven, i suppose an equation could be made for such, on average a truck uses 25 gallons for every 500 miles, but what is the filter designed to filter? 11-12 hundred gallons? 20000? i've looked and can't seem to find much. just that it's a 3 micron FW filter at 99%, P553203, Just seems to me that changing a filter designed for OTR truck on our little ones after only 15K miels, that's only about 1000 gallons of fuel. seems very under ut…

This article will show you how to calibrate a HE351VE turbo using a cheap arduino board and a Canbus shield PLEASE NOTE**** This is not a magic pill for fixing issues with the turbo actuator. If the actuator is bad then it will still need to be replaced. We get a lof of questions similar to "hey I ran this and the turbo still doesn't work" This will not fix an actuator, only calibrate a good actuator to the physical limits of the turbo vanes. Parts arduino uno $15-$30 Arduino Uno Canbus Shield $25 Plugs ~$5 Wires ~ $5 Code turboreset.ino Canbus Library CANLibrarymaster.zip This code will sim…

This is a good reason why I run Amsoil AME in my truck. As you can see the oil had over 10K miles on it. I ended up running it a little longer than I have been the last few years because I did a trip in May/June to Arizona and didn't figure the additional highway miles would hurt, and they didn't. 10,583 miles, 308 hours, 733.8 gallons, and just under 13 months. Of those miles 2679 were towing which is a decent percentage when you take out the 3544 miles I did in 6 weeks to/from Arizona, which is just under 40% towing. The oil looks like it had quite a bit of life left in it but I'm good changing it. Not to …

how low do you let the tread get before replacing tires? as much as i love the ride and traction of my BFG's they are already at 6 thousands. i have just under 20K on them, not sure they'll last the winter. i have a 3-4K mile road trip coming up here on the 20'th. up through Oregon and Idaho. so i'm sure it'll kill the remaining life on these, So what do ya'll think? AH64ID has the ST MAXX's in 255/80R17, i'm thinking about those, but how many miles might they last? I'm in need of a nationwide tire dealer for all the traveling we do. should i go with 18" rims? we don't tow much with this truck, not yet anyhow. it's mainly a road trip queen. …

That will do more than just scan for codes, i want one that will let me play with the computer in the truck, run diagnostics, and such. reason i ask, the AC on my 08 is no where even close to that of my 04, so i hooked up gauges, all seemingly ok, now it's time to do tests that the FSM says i need a scanner for. EG: With the scan tool, read HVAC DTCs. With the scan tool in Data Display, read the Evaporator Temperature Sensor voltage. things like that. So what scan tool do i need?

Guys, need some input, which will help me decide which way to go from here. Try to follow.... I have an 01 Ram that is sittng until I fix the front end. Body damage and front frame rail is tweaked, deciding on how to fix that still... Anyways, Truck has a HTT 62/65/12, This turbo was destined to be a top turbo for this truck. I got an 05 Ram, since I wrecked the 01...Currently just a Smarty on it. I'm getting twins. Most bang for my buck: 05: I say take the 62/65/12 from my 01 and install it on a 2nd gen exhaust manifold, over something like a s475, or could I go to an S480? Limiting thing on the 05, is I dont want to have to run dual CP…

So I am pretty sure my alternator died. I left for work this morning and noticed the headlights were a bit dim. I assumed it was frost on the lenses so I fired up the high beams/fogs and it got dimmer. I then noticed voltage was holding about 11.4 at the ECM (from my touch). I gave it a mile or two to see if maybe it was low batteries and the voltage never came up so I turned around. When I got home I separated the batteries, hoping to find one bad one, and both were at 11.3ish. Then I disconnected the alternator wire and fired the truck back up. With a voltmeter the alternator output started at 9v and dropped to 6v just holding the volt meter on it. I also put a 10A char…

Hi guys, i have a 2003 cummins auto trans that I am having dead pedal issues. No codes. While driving at completely random times the truck will completely drop off to idle for a couple seconds, then come back to the desired rpm and work fine. Sometimes this happens very rapidly and makes the truck undriveable. On the rare occasion that the truck does not act up it runs perfectly fine with plenty of power. I replaced the APPS and it made no difference. Checked continuity on harness from each of the 6 wires from the apps to the ecu connector, all OK, checked continuity from ecu connector to FCA and found OK, checked continuity from each pin…
