I have a 98 cummins 24v just turned 92000 miles, stock as far as i know. It sis come with 2 gauges, boost and fuel pressure, though itès only 15psi. It used to bury the needle just after startup. But recently, on a fifth wheel trip to the southeast, it started at about 9 psi and slowly rose to about 14 psi. It was shortly after a fiilup so i thought it might be bad fuel, so i added some diesel kleen in the white bottle and things seem to improve somewhat. I continued on to cold Canada, where i am cuurently at a friends place and the fifth wheel is sitting in a public parking lot (with permission, of course). Yesterday I started it up and it was at 6 psi, and rose slowly …

I have searched until I am blue in the face to no avail. I have a 2001 24 valve with a Quadzilla Adrenaline tuner installed. At engine operating temperature the coolant temperature sensor (located right next to the thermostat housing) is reading about 1,125 ohms of resistance which is about 190F. This level of resistance matches the coolant temperature. The problem is the ECT on the Quadzilla reads 160. Disconnecting the two wire lead at the sensor seems only to affect the gauge on the dashboard and not what the Quadzilla is showing. Where is the ECM or PCM pulling the ECT of 160 from? It does not appear to me it is from the sensor located at the therm…

Ok, So its dead from all I can tell. I want to buy a different one, should I buy a rebuilt bosch unit from my local supplier for $1150 or should I go with Jkidds are they the same pump? Should I go with the Blue Chip type X pump they suggest that it gets better gas mileage ( I tow a 3-4 car trailer and will be going a TON of miles ). I'm assuming that my truck will run better even better then it did prior to the pump dyeing due to wear etc. Is there any other options out there I'm not thinking of? I would also like to do a upgraded lift pump, maybe the fass system. I feel I'm on the right path, I'm just wondering if I should pay a little more to buy my pump from a local…

I have an 01 2500 I’m having an issue at idle, it sounds like it has a slight lope. I can see the variation in rpm on the dash and on my display for my programmer. It will only do it if I’m sitting in park. If I have it in gear it will not happen. It started last week. I just changed the fuel filter yesterday and dumped in a good amount of diesel Kleen. My fuel pressure doesn’t show any drop when it lopes. I have my sensor at the bottom of the fuel housing . It stays at 18psi. It will also lose prime if it’s parked up hill with the engine above the fuel tank ,but it has to sit for more than 8 hours before it loses prime. So I just back in my driveway ,and have no iss…

Probably a stupid question did the alternator a/c test on my truck reads around .032 say there and watched it for a minute and it shoots up to .09-.1 for about 5 seconds than returns to .032. Does the same cycle like clock work. I’m assuming it is the alternator full fielding?

So I replaced trans, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate and while I was there I replaced the rear main seal. I noticed it leaking very little over the pasted week then I took it for 350 mile round trip and its leaking bad now. Got new seal and going to do it again, any tricks to the trade here? I know the front seal has a sleeve to install but nothing on the rear? I thought I would grease it up this time.

About 3 weeks ago I started to get a check engine light with a cam position sensor code, that I cannot remember the number of, a speed sensor code p0500 and a p1693. It would come up after a hard pull. I let off the throttle the tack would drop and the check engine light to come on. It continued to get worse. It also had a random miss or stumble at idle. It was very audible through the exhaust and it would just do it every once in awhile and is kind of hard to explain. Just a random blip through the exhaust. Then one night my grid heater started pulling down so hard that it would kill my headlights and dash lights. They were kicking on and off randomly off time and pullin…

2001 Ram 2500 quad 4x2, 24 valve turbo 5 speed.Suddenly clutch started going soft (doesn't engage fully, hard to shift into gear) if depressed for prolong period or if engaged several times in a row. Strangely it recovers and works fine within a few minutes. I am guessing slave/master cylinder issue - but why does it recover and work fine? Air in the line? It drives just fine otherwise and clutch and gears work great as long as I lay off the clutch as much as possible (coast to stops put in neutral, etc.). Maybe this is common but, anytime I had clutch problems in past with cars it was a slow permanent process - no recovery. Ideas out there? Hate to crack open housing an…

Fuel Pressure Specification For Bosch VP44 Injection Pumps Here is a copy of the fuel system specifications from the Dodge Factory Service Manual. This is for your Dodge Cummins Turbo diesel truck with a Bosch VP44 injection pump. Fuel pressure Normal fuel pressure should float about 14-15 PSI running down the pavement. It should never fall below 10 PSI at all. Here is a colorize fuel pressure gauge to give you a clue of the fuel pressure span you want. You want the needle to stay in the green at all times. Yellow zone is a warning that you should check the fuel filter, lift pump performance, overflow valve, etc. This is undocumented maximum press…

I been using 2 cycle oil when I'm not running B20. Found another comparison run by diesel heads that tends to confirm, again, that it is not a bad idea to be using a little 2stroke oil. http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728

Ok last July my if you remember my tranny went out on my trip to Montana. I remember posting that about an hour before my tranny blew up we were climbing up a pretty steep hill at about 65 mph and I got like a 2 sec squeal and it sounded like it came from the turbo I pulled over and popped the hood and took a look and didn't see anything out of the ordinary and I could not make it do it again. So we just went on. An hour later the tranny blows. I just figured the noise had something to do with the tranny. OK here we are 5 months later. The other day I am driving down the road upshifting to 6th and when I hit 65 mph I get this same squeal again. Its just a short little squ…
