This is a discussion forum of the 1998.5 to 2002 2nd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L Cummins 24 Valve Turbo Diesel power train and drive line system. This includes all sub-system including wiring, fuel, oil, exhaust, air, transmission, computers and sensors.

  1. Truck just died on side of Interstate. Pulled codes off dash......DTC P1694: NO BUS MESSAGES RECEIVED FROM COMPANION MODULE. PDC plug seems to be ok. Faulty ECM ? What else could it be?

    my truck died while accelerating. i have p1689 & p1688 codes. it turns over fine, fuel pressure has been fine but i wasn't looking at it when it died. jusy died, no sputtering or warning. i unhooked the edge and nothing changed.

    I just had my NV4500 rebuilt and installed it with the bell housing on, put on the slave cylinder, clutch felt a little loose go to put into gear and it will not go into gear Clutch goes almost to floor before I feel pressure What could have been misaligned ? I felt the splines go in, and the drive shay would turn, etc Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Well, joined the forum back in Nov... had been working on plotting out our tune up/ preventative & maintenance plans and before we got anywhere within driving the truck an additional 500 miles at most we have MAJOR ISSUES... needless to say we have have the truck parked in the driveway since we put new tires on it at the end of November, we have had to start it a few times to move it for snow removal and driveway access issues...     I think I'm finally ready to ask these questions. I have decided to upgrade my 24v with a quadzilla adrenaline, injectors, compound turbo, and an exhaust brake. I am not interested in rolling coal. I do not race but I do tow. I like reliability and longevity. My NV4500 has a 450hp clutch. And I'm installing a new lift pump and lines. I'd like suggestions on compound setup and which injectors to match them with. I initially planned to build my own setup but now I'm leaning to buying a kit. I feel like I want to be in that 350-425hp area. If possible I'd like to keep air filter in place (corner of passenger cowl) but it isnt a deal breaker. T…

    I would like to add the fuel filter as try keep debris away from raptor pump(raptor 100) but I has research and not see what is correct way for me to get a part kit to do on my 2002 dodge ram 3500 cummins as 2wd dually. Also I had noticed the my raptor 100 would not increase te pressure even I did changed the fuel filter at stock canister that did increased from 15psi to 21 but now it went back to 14psi after few weeks driving. I had not get chance to pop the line off at raptor 100 to see at screen to see if plugging up? I had put my cummins into my garage and stay inside for few weeks as had not get time to look at it.     I been driving my brothers 99 truck for work. Started it up today and let it run for just a minute while I got situated in the truck. Then it just cut off like it ran out of fuel. White smoke from the tail pipe. I tried to start it backup. White smoke no start. Now no smoke and no start at all where should I start?

    Guys, NEED HELP ASAP!I do not have a low pressure warning light, but I have gotten in the habit of turning the key to the ON position and listening to the pump prime before I turn the truck over. I cannot recall if the problem started last night, or longer or if it really was this evening.So me and the wife went to the grocery store for a few things, which is about a mile or so away from the house.     OK, I have a 01 2500 with 112k. FASS DDRP and HAD (took off today) an Edge Comp. Last week while driving 35 there was a miss in the motor and when given throttle the motor would miss, pop, hesitate and shutter. Pulled over, shut off the comp and shut down the motor. Restarted and while in Park idles and revs fine. When put into gear once the tach hits 1500 rpm it starts all over. When I unhooked the comp from the harness I got a CEL and P0237 and P0230 codes. Changed the fuel filter and cracked the VP44 inlet banjo to make sure I was getting fuel. It sat for a week and I had it towed home today. No CEL and I drove it into the garage fine.   10. Hey all, I've tried everything I can think of and I can't resolve this issue. My 2000 automatic won't start because the lift pump (raptor 150) won't turn on. I had only 3000 miles on it before it suddenly stopped working. So I checked my ASD relay and my fuel system relay, both were fine. So I unplugged the pump and bumped the starter and checked voltage with my multimeter. Got a healthy 12.3-12.7 volts. So I figued the pump was bad and got a new one under warranty. When the new one came in, the same issue continued. I figured maybe there was some glitch and the ECM was telling the motor to defuel because the check engine light with p1693 came on when it stoppe…

    So I have had the first major problem with my 02 2500. Got the truck out Saturday afternoon to go to a church dinner. Get ready to leave the dinner and my truck won't start. When I key-on the ignition I don't hear the FASS kick on, then I notice the wait to start is flashing. So obviously I am assuming the worst, a dead ECM. The truck would just crank and crank and crank. Call for tow and of course it will be awhile, so I leave the truck and wait at home.   12. Hey everyone about two weeks ago I purchased a 2000 ram 2500 5.9 with a 47re. It had a stumble at idle but never left me stranded in the two weeks driving it. I was reading about possible alternator noise causing problems so I replaced it with a remanned alternator. The new alternator went up in smoke had a short in it somewhere is my best guess. So I switched the old alternator back into the truck since it was still charging atleast.   14. Hey everyone, I'm new to this site. I came across it after trying to figure out some issues I've been having with my '01 24v and am hoping someone could provide me with some insight. Now here's the problem:Today I was driving my '01 24v (mods in signature) and everything was perfectly normal. I then shut it off and about two hours later started it up.     Hello! This is my first post on here so pardon if I’m in the wrong subcategory. About a week ago, I developed a popping noise under take off, it sounds like it’s coming from under the drivers side floorboard to me. A buddy said sounds like under back passenger seat, under take off it sounds like a pop is coming from under the truck, have had it on the lift and have checked all u joints, they’re good.     So i was rolling down the free way today and my tire blew at 65 mph.     I 've had some clutch interlock problems getting my truck started, I wiggle the switch on the clutch pedal shaft and the truck will start. Today I went to start it, and nothing. I wiggle the switch and then hop in to start it. No lights on dash, no odometer, Battery has plenty of juice, because I just drove it I checked the instrument panel fuse, and its fine. I know my ECU harness had a few shorts, could that be the cause? . Also, while we are on the topic, can I use an automatic engine wiring harness on a 5 speed truck? I would really like to drive the truck instead of work on it all the time. Appreciate any help folks can offer. Thanks

    My truck is in the shop I was just going to have them replace the pinion seal but then it turned into a possible bad yoke bearing now they say they need to rebuild the entire rear diff which will cost 3388!!!! There is no way I can afford that. Has anyone done this themselves could I take on this project with just a basic home shop? Or does anyone have any advice? Anything is appreciated thanks!
