  1. So I have been quite aggressive with playing with this smarty. I have tried about 35 different combinations, and several workable tunes, and I also have debunked the long standing myth that the adjustment options were related to SW. They are not. Each setting is indeed a subset, that effects the whole fuel map. With being said, I am now at a crossroads. How do I know I have hit the sweet spot. For example I have several settings where I notice the same acceleration rate is accompanied by lower boost 10'lbs or if I change tm I can see +/-15lbs on same road section. The smoke control is also there. However on other settings I fee…

  3. Kind of an obscure question, as I was looking at the wiring diagram for my truck. (see link) @Dynamic If you have any input here... I would appreciate it. I am trying to figure out why the trans relay is in line with the alternator field. If you look at the PCM on the left side, about mid way down you will see a GEN FIELD DRV, in dark green. This field runs 100hz AC to the alternator from the PCM causing it to charge. Lower you will see a GEN FIELD OUT, returning from the alternator to the transmission relay. Why would they do this? Why not run the signal for the trans relay directly to the relay? Why allow the non steady state voltage reg…

  4. Started by Cumminz,

Ive been chasing down this problem for about 2 years and barely drive my truck because of the issue. So I have upgraded to the newest airdog II, new MWFI vp44, and 150 hp injectors, new head gasket, studs, and timbos apps. If you listen to my truck from about 100 feet away, you can hear it running strange but not picked up well on video. It sounds like a random ticking coming from engine like the cylinders aren't firing all the way or something but it is NOT a misfire (more of a random skip). This happens throughout all engine rpms. When im cruising going 55 and let off the gas SLIGHTLY (so little load on engine), the truck starts sputtering and can be noticed on tach (+/…

I have only had my Dodge/Cummins for a few months. When I turn off the ignition switch and the engine comes to a halt ---- it has a sneezing sound. What on earth is that? Its sorta like a suppressed little sneeze sounding a lot like "chit"???? It seems to be more pronounced now that the weather has warmed up. Thanks in advance. mal

  6. Buddy of mine has a 1999 2500 4x4 (I assume 1999 on the plate on the door says mfg date is 7/99).He was driving his truck working just fine, then it died suddenly at 70, now it will start runs real ruff, barley idles, and there is no response from the throttle (aka dead pedal). The check engine light is on, however the ignition key on/off 3 times does not display codes via the odometer, it does on my 2002 2500.My question does the 1999 display trouble codes via the odometer (digging on the internet some say it should some say it will not)?2nd any ideas / hints might be wrong with the truck ?I know codes are needed otherwise just chasing our tails but thought someone might …

  7. Hi, I am looking for a flashing LED or similar alarm kit to install by my fuel pressure gauge to alert me that the feed pressure at the VP44 inlet is at or below 10 psi. I want this set point because that is what Cummins specify is the minimum required and everything I have read indicates that below that pressure I am damaging the VP44. So far all the alarms I have found listed for my truck activate at 5 psi or less, I emailed three suppliers, two haven't replied and the one who did admitted that although his alarm kit is listed for my truck the 5 psi setting is too low to be any real use to protect the VP44. Thanks.

  9. Just returned from our first camping trip of the year... first tow with the Quadzilla XZT+ (2000 tune). I don’t know if the XZT has any effect on the engine temperature. I am used to to running (empty) right on the thermostat, a needle width below the center mark (200 degrees). Towing, I previously ran about a needle width above that center mark. I saw the temp climb to 2 needle widths above on grades... but came down coasting / light throttle on the other side. So we arrived at the parking field, shifted to 4 high & were directed to the best spot. They wanted me to circle outside & “drive through” next to another vehicle which I did... but I could …

  10. I just recently installed a power puck on my 2001 Ram...WOW!! what a difference! Frankly its all I need, or can afford. I have however been looking at a lot of posts about smoke switches. There seem to be two different wiring diagrams, One simply jumpers (through a SPST switch) the +5v. to the signal wire, the other seems to say that you need to bypass the fueler box (Edge, Quadzilla...). Does the Power puck qualify as a fueler box, or is more of a glorified boost fooler, and does it need to be bypassed? I've also seen some posts suggesting you wire a 10 ohm, 10 watt, resistor into the jumper wire/switch. has anyone considered installing a rheostat in place of the …

My 99 quad cab long box always makes you work to drive it. It does not wonder down the road, it seems to be sensitive to movement of the steering wheel have checked tie rods and steering links. Wonder what you guys though should be next on my list.

:banghead: Darn it all... I'm wondering if this issue is coinciding with my previous post on the paculiar rattling noise I was having. It seems my pyro gauge is no longer functioning... I dunno if it is the gauge itself or if it is the probe. My money is on it being the probe. I noticed when I got home from the grocery store that the pyro was at 150 degrees. No way I can ever drive light enough to get it that low. Engine idle does not even allow it to be that cool. So, I opened the hood, no apparent signs right off the bat. I had the driver door open and hood up. Cranked the engine, made a funny noise. Let it run for a second, to see if the inoperable gauge is just a fluk…

  15. Hello again all so thought i'd toss this out there to get an idea of what the problem may be on our Work truck. So about 6 month's ago When my boss got his replacement truck. a 1998.5 Dodge 3500 Auto,4x4, 24 Val Truck. I went through it (When i could he bought it sight unseen for way more then worth with rust out the butt and not worth the price tag IMHO) But, I replaced every Fluid, Filter, Power steering pump, half the front end (Owners wife said it "like to wander" spent a few thousand replaced every part in the front end no help at all.) But after i Replaced the Fuel Filter, Refilled the canister as all way's with fresh diesel. .....The factory Fuel pump went dead... …

On my way home from work the other day, on the freeway, my truck started to hiccup a bit. It got worse by the minute and within about 5 miles, the truck would only respond to the throttle when it wanted to, dead pedal. I thought right away my VP had gone bad. I hobbled home and checked the codes. My OBD2 scan tool showed 0122, The truck showed P ECU, P 1693, P 0500, P 1475, P 0122. I ordered a Blue Chip VP-44 and installed it this morning, no change. I went down to the Dodge dealership and picked up a Bellcrank and installed that, no change. When I push down on the throttle, there is no response. If I push and hold the throttle, at any position, even slight, it eventually…

Hey all, I have a 2000 CTD 2WD.I returned from a canoeing trip yesterday with no issues thru the trip at all, turned around in my drive and tried to back up to the garage and the truck wouldn't back up....The trans was like stuck in drive. I put it in Neutral and it still crept forward. Put it in reverse and it backed up like the brakes were on.... any ideas? How do I know if the trans is a 46RH or a 47RH.Could it be possible for the TC lockup to be stuck on? just an idea.I drained the pan and pulled it, initial inspection shows no visible issues, some debris on the magnet, no shavings ectThe VIN # is IB7KC2363YJI78907 If that helps to I D the trans
