A few days ago I started having starting issues. It use to barely even turn a full turn before she crunk up. Then a few days ago she started turning over several times as if the batteries were going low. Once she started my voltage guage quickly rose back up to 14+ volts and ran perfect. Yesterday she finally decided she didn't want to start and would only spin over. I hooked my charger up to them and let them charge for a little while and still the same just spun a little quicker. Thought I may not be getting any fuel so I cracked an injector line 3&5 and no fuel came out but filter bowl was slap full. Thinking it had to be a voltage issue I pulled the batteries brou…

  2. 99 2500 Ram. Pick up was parked all winter, went to start and just cranked over, shot it with either and started up and was good, thought just lost pressure. Then, at station getting fuel and same thing. I replaced full pump on block thinking that was it and get still does it. Dan a power wire to pump to toggle pump on but still does it with pump runnnning, Abby very annoying. I am thinking it is the control box on the side of block in front of pump. Anyone agree. This is intermittent and can go weeks and be fine. It will always start with a shot of juice. Any ideas

New here and can really use some help. This might not be the right section to post this but i figured id have better luck here. I just recently finished swapping a 24v into my ford and have been having a problem getting it to start. Before I say this my heater grid is not hooked up and i know its horrible on the motor but the truck will only start with a small hit of ether.Once its started it runs perfect. Idles great sounds smooth and revs up like it should.Once you shut it off and try to start it right back up it wont start. It wont even sputter or sound like its trying to start. The vp44 is brand new and was part of the problem originally when i first started trying to…

I have a 98.5 auto, stock 24v with no start condition last week. Wasn't getting fuel but started after about 20 min. I changed fuel, air and oil filters and primed it. Started fine but no start next time. 50/50 start/no start over the next week. If the lift pump would prime by bumping the starter, the truck would start every time. Did a lot of stuff suggested on here and other places with no luck. Finally pulled no 9 fuse and ASE ? relay and cleaned bayonets Truck has been starting and running perfect the last 4 days. Any ideas?

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 Cummins, long story short swapped out the engine, (it's not a good thing when you suck valves down into the cylinders) an engine from a 2001 Freightliner Step Van that I put in my Dodge and now I can't get the tach to work more than 30 seconds approximately. I have tried 3 different camshaft sensors. It runs but doesn't have the power it should. Been working on this truck off and on for over a year. Frustrated in Denver.

This problem is starting to happen more after a warm or hot restart within the first mile, tach drops down to nothing, CE light comes on, engine rattles real hard for a mile or two. If I was to stop at a light, the engine has a rough idle, today I put it in neutral I kept juicin' it a little just so it wouldn't stall. After a mile down the road it all returned to normal. My FP was in my normal14-16 range while driving the entire time.:shrug:Anyone experience this?Dave

  7. Looking for some help with diagnosing why the tach and oil pressure gauge aren’t getting signal. Gauges have been tested and work fine. I’ve installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and it shows good pressure. I have RPM’s within range. Was a good running & driving pickup but had a cracked 53 block. I had a mechanic build me a new engine. He used a 2004 5.9 common rail block with my original VP head. Long story short he went out of business and I ended up getting the truck back unfinished. I installed the factory cam and cam gear and gear case and mounted the factory reluctor ring in front of the balancer. Multiple ecm’s and pcm’s later I finally have the engine star…

  8. Hey guys, I just finished a bunch of work on my truck and dealing with some issues I’m not sure are related or not. For background I Pulled engine and trans, resealed engine, new poly motor mounts, new RV275 injectors, new VP and alternator, rebuilt the 47re w Goerend VB and rebuilt transfer case, head studs, resealed AC, rebuilt turbo, new fuel lines, intake and exhaust gaskets, basically went through the whole powertrain. What’s happening now is I’m not getting a tach signal and the truck sounds like it’s missing at idle and there’s a sharp hiss/tick in the exhaust like a misfire. I’m wondering where the sensor is for the tach signal because I’ve checked…

Hey so i got a 98.5 auto 24 valve an have been putting off for way to long the issue with my tc! Several months ago it stopped locking up and so I replaced the tc lockup solenoid on the valve body, and adjusted the bands while I was in there... didn't fix it!... so I took it to a dealer an had them hook up their code reader and they told me the lock up solenoid needed replaced and I had just replaced that so that made me think it was a wiring issue. And now lately whenever I turn sharp right the oil psi gauge on my dash goes to zero and the check gauges light goes on an then when I turn back straight it goes back to normal.... any similar issues? Fixes?

  11. Well today I was pulling a .. Ahem.. JETSKI out of the lake and for the life of me I could not gain traction. Pretty rediculous. Finally I used the ebrake trick to ease it out. Cmon though, a jetski! Anyway my truck performance add-ons are listed below. My question is, you think just tires are my problem? If so what are some good tires I can put on my 16" stock wheels? Or, if tires aren't it, other suggestions? Current - LT245/75R16 120/116s 1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9l Turbo diesel - Quadzilla Adrenaline Programmer - iQuad Bluetooth Guage display - hx35w turbo - boost elbow - Pusher 24V2G Aluminum Intake Manifold - S&B Cold Air Intake - Air d…

So I was having an issue with my tranny not locking up the torque inverter in od or with my switch! But was shifting fine and not slipping at all no other issues! So I bought all new electronics for the vb and a new boost valve spring retainer to have all the parts when I dropped vb! So I dropped the vb today The spring retainer wasn't broken but replaced with hd unit anyways! replaced all the electronics. and cleaned(not dirty at all) But the big FU is when I was lowering the vb two pieces fell off the top off it onto my head! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t283/74toyotafj/brokenband2.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t283/74toyotafj/brokenband1.jpg They look li…

This is my first post and I have been looking around on here but haven’t found anything like my problem. I'm looking for any help. I have a 99 Ram 3500. Some times when you turn the ignition switch on the wait to start light comes on and the lift pump does not but the truck will start immediately. I checked the voltage at the stock lift pump connector and their is 6-7 VDC until the truck is started then it jumps to 12 VDC. Other times when you turn the ignition switch on the wait to start light does not come on and the lift pump does not turn on and the truck will crank but will not start. After about 15-25 seconds the wait to start like and lift pump turn on and the t…

Good morning gang. My uncles 99 has no wait to start light however the grids cycle after it starts. With a test light there is no trigger from the ecm when you cycle the key. No codes and it runs great. It also has a new IAT sensor. Thanks in advance for any guidance

I have a 99 dodge ram 2500 with 24v cummins. A year or so ago I had an issue with my ECM. The throttle was stuck at 14%. I bought a new one through GO ECM DIESEL and it had a lifetime warranty. About 8 months after having the ECM my wait to start light wouldn't come on anymore. I put my buddy's ecm on my truck and the light and grid heaters worked fine. Mind you I've always had to wait for the wait to start light to go out before the truck would start, ever since I've owned it. I've owned it for about 2 years now. When I first got the ecm it would start fine with the WTS light on. After a while it was back to waiting until it shut off to start the truck. Then my grid heat…

I just installed a Pacbrake on my truck and the warm up feature is not working. It actually worked for 30 seconds on first startup but not any more. Just wondering if anybody here had thoughts or experiences. I ran a wire from the activating solenoid to the battery so I could turn it on manually and that works but it back feeds power somewhere and turns the HVAC on when I energize it!

So I have had a 99 Cummins for some time now and it came with a raptor fuel pump and edge programmer. It also had a switch in the cab to turn the fuel pump on. When I first got the truck the WTS light was delayed but turned on and after a few starts it started coming on like normal and I had the fuel switched from the switch to my ignition so it came on without having to flip a switch but after I went a vacation and accidentally left the key in the auxiliary position and ran the batteries dead there has been no WTS light. When we would try to jump it the light came on but after the last one it won't. Tried unplugging batteries and letting it sit then putting the cables ba…

  19. Hey guys. First time poster. Long time reader. I've got an interesting problem that has just popped up. My wait to start light is no longer coming on and at the same time, my high idle fooler no longer can be controlled, it just keeps the truck in 3 cylinder high idle when it sits and idles for any period of time. I can still see the grid heater cycling, dropping my volts and dimming my headlights. Am I correct in guessing this has something to do with my IAT sensor? I've dealt with all kinds of stuff on this truck, but nothing like this as of yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a couple of issues with my 1999 24v that's been bugging me. 1. Lately it's been getting cold here in New Mexico and I noticed that my grid heater doesn't cycle until the engine has been started. The wait to start light never comes on anymore, not even for a split second, and my lift pump no longer does the 1-2 second prime before engine start. Is it a bad ECM? 2. My truck is a 5 speed nv4500, when I first picked it up I used to be able to take off from a dead stop in second gear just fine, plenty of torque to get it to move even starting on an incline. Now I have to start off in first gear slowly, it feels like it's hesitating/bogging down. I can't ev…
