My grandpa's truck has a faulty oil pressure sensor. Soon as you turn the kew on it shoots up to 75psi. Found the oil presure sensor but dont have the right size socket to remove it. Does anybody know the right size and best place to get a new sensor. I think Geno's will have the best price at $89. His dodge is a 2001 w/cummins of course.

Last night oil gauge started dropping to bottom of gauge tripping check gauges light and chime. Since it was raining I'm thinking loose connection. My question Where is the sensor? I tried to find it on the parts lookup. It is listed as number 12 but picture only goes to 11. Want to clean the connection.

Went to change the oil sensor, ordered the switch from genos after confirming I had the right part number. Went to install today and behold, my truck fights to be different yet again. So now the question is, does anyone know what year sensor this is? I believe the truck is late 02 before the change to 3rd gen trucks, but I haven't been to the parts store yet to look at a sensor they have on the shelf. Part number for the 98.5-02 trucks is 4326849 and a complete different plug. Also, sorry about all the oil need to change the cover gasket on that side.

I have a 2001 ram 24v Cummins. 1 wire oil pressure switch/sening unit? The one wire to unit was unplugged by previous owner where does it plug into? Connector is on unit but single brown wire was tied around brake wires trying to get guage to work.

  5. So it's done it since I've owned the truck, but anyway...Turn the key on: Oil pressure goes to about 40-45psi on the gauge. "Wait a minute.. I haven't even started it.."Stays there, too, after I start it, and drive it. It stays put there, as long as the key is on.. If I unplug the Oil Pressure Switch harness, it goes to zero, so something tells me it's the actual pressure switch?... At the nice price range of $180 (Rock Auto), to $212 at Advance Auto Parts; Auto Zone wants $193 for it.. :nono:Is there something you guys may know about that could be causing this? I mean, something like the 'low oil pressure) TSB, but opposite, obviously.. :)Thanks.

Ok, I am very curious on this. I have seen Cummins videos online and I began to notice that when I turn my key to "run"(engine off), my oil pressure goes up to full operating pressure and not one other truck in those videos have. I'm aware of pre-oilers but I have not seen anthing unusual about the oil lines nor any pump sounds before or after start-up or shut-down. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but with 305k on the clock and the top end just being gone through and a new turbo install, I ask the question how long can we expect an oil pump to last? Mine is original to the best of my knowledge. It's a concern of mine only because certain items can't be allowed to fail without incurring copious amounts of extra money in damage to related parts (lift pump, turbo and so on) I am tempted just to replace it just because, but my old man has a point "let sleeping dogs lie" ie it has no signs of issue so why change it.....

Ok! today I got a phone call from LE Engineers. They make custom oil, grease, and other things like fuel additives We had a very nice phone chat and I explained to him that I had used their some of their products for like 20 years. Mainly our company used the grease because we had such a high wear rate on our equiptment. Their grease is unbeatable for wear reduction, I have observed it in pressure wear tests. I don't sell or buy the products today because it's not cheap. I told him I had about a fourth of a tube of their grease left that I borrowed as I retired. He is going to send me a couple tubes for around the home lubing. I will be…

Before I changed out the motor and tranny there were lots of spots in my driveway so it didn't bother me. But now there are no drips but I still get that burned oily smell once in a while. Being a rooky, is there something I don't know about? I can't see any obvious cause of this odor.

Well after leaving my truck parked for a couple of weeks now. I fire it up and now I can visibly see oil smoke just a puff at initial start up and gone. If its parked in the shop you can smell hang in the air. As for driving there is no oil smoke under normal driving conditions. Now this might be park of the last bout I ran the exhaust brake and would see it after a long down hill run. I'm starting to wonder if the valve seals are getting sloppy? There is no blow by.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about oils, specifically oils marketed as "synthetic." I'd like to clear the air a bit and explain some of the types of oils, how they differ in production processes, and how they differ in performance characteristics. This will not only give you factual information that is helpful for understanding all oils currently on the market, but will also explain in detail how a Group IV PAO product like AMSOIL will yield a higher degree of protection and performance, especially in modern and modified turbo diesel engines. Thank you for reading. -Chuck Base Oil Categories The American Petroleum Institute (API) develop…

So a few of you know I've been dealing with smoke at idle on my truck. Long story short every theory has been touched on. Last action was redoing the exhaust valve seals for no change. However I still have a oil looking ride Comming outing #1 exhaust . It looks like oil .... but obviously could be fuel with soot. 99% this is cause of my smoke at idle. I'm waiting to have a phone conversation with bill W&F.... but entertaining ideas of what I'm I'm for if I remove head. Considering parting out otherwise.

  17. Soooo I don't know what to do. I have had the water in fuel light come on twice since january once few days ago. What am I supposed to do drain fuel filter? Add somthing to fuel? Where did the water come from? Thanks and sorry for the silly question. Chris

So, I'm still having the P0237 code problem, even after I sent my ecm (which was barely scraping by apparently) to ACS. I ended up shelling out the $499,plus another $165 for the wts light fix. Tried disconnecting the battery terminals to see if it was a ghost from the past, but the codes still won't clear. I tried just removing the quadzilla, and still no dice. I checked all three wires. Ground is grounding, 5 volt reference is getting power, and the signal wire shows continuity between the ecm connector and the map sensor connector. Wtf am I missing? I'm seriously considering pulling everything, selling it, and going to a P-pump. Because I'm disgusted with t…

The base info: 1999 ram 2500 stock turbo 5.9 Cummins. 75 hp injectors, new vp 44, fass pump Quadzilla adrenalin I took off the intake box I found oil around the cold air vane inside the turbo so the questions are should i buy a replacement stock turbo. or should I get an up graded replacement a little bigger turbo what size would work in this configuration

  20. First question isIs there and ground wire going to the sending unit in the tank for the fuel guage or any reason my gauge would read steady, but incorrectly? Before I had my box off and had my truck painted it seemed like if I was abuot 1/2 tank i could fill it for about $90 +- and now it seems like it takes more as if the guage isn't reading right. Today i put $92 in it at a little less then 3/4 of a tank showing on the gauge. The gauge never jumps around is if anything is wrong :shrug:Second question isAfter I put new intercooler boots on I fianlly noticed being able to hear my turbo spool up. Last week it seemed to get a little louder sounding then usual, had it for …
