Does anyone know if there's a way to tell if an automatic trans has been rebuilt? I bought at 190K now at 244K with no problems so far except lately it has been slow to go into 4th at times.

What does the"O" rings on the crossover tubes seal? Do they seal oil or fuel?

  4. Hey guys, need a lil help here. So i had to do some serious tear down of the truck to get to my tappet cover. I found that it was leaking back when i did my rear main crank seal last time i was underneath the truck. Needless to say to get to the tappet cover you have to pull the injection pump and lines 1,2, and 4 so that you can get the vp44 out of the way. I was very careful when i was removing the vp44 to make sure that I didnt drop the key down the timing cover. I aligned the key-way with the TDC mark on the top of the timing cover so that wouldnt happen. Removed the pump and went about my business. On re-installation i put the pump back in made sure everything…

  5. so I just picked up a 90' VE pumped 12 valve motor for $1500. Im going to swap out my 24 valve with this motor .few reasons, miledge, relyabilty, and next to no electronics!I know its a direct swap, Im just hoping there is a way to retain my factory gauges? Also has any body seen this done to our body style yet?and what are your guys' thoughts? dont knock me to to bad! Im just sick of these constant codes, poor miledge, constantly worrying about my fuel pressure, and how everything is sooo expensive for these motors!

  6. Started by CUMMINSDIESELPWR,

So i recently installed some new rv275's and love them. However i need to rebuild or replace the turbo as i have high temps most of the time cruising at 65 no load or towing. I do need to test for air leaks but i am pretty sure i dont have any. At stock setting it will run 700-800 any setting above stock and im easily hitting 900+ when i step into the skinny pedal. on setting 5 it will make the turbo sing and barely the 30 psi i have it set for defuel but i can easily get it over 1200F if i want but dont like it. I do get a lot of smoke on the bottom end of each gear but once the turbo is spooled its not bad if any at all. the lag on the stocker is long though... It is …

On a 4x4 I only see two adjustments for alignment, one next to gear box ( gets steering wheel straight) and the other by passenger side ( does tow in out ), if you don't count control arm adjustment. Am I missing anything? I measured tire tread front and back on level ground and my toe was in the front (both tires pointing in) so I adjusted it a bit and now it measures almost exact front to back before I had just over 1/4" longer in back. Anyone know where tow needs to be 0 or +- . Also why would truck pull right even in left lane if only one adjustment for tow, so no mater what, both tires should split difference equal and steering wheel would be off to left or right. Af…

  8. Figured I would throw this out there. I have had a funny delayed almost slipping type 2-3 shift the past few months and have been giving the 02 a front to rear service and check over and tune up. I pulled the tranny pan and the last couple times it has been loaded with metal and friction material. been that way the last 3 times actually so I have been waiting for the death of it but it keeps hanging in there with 131K of abuse.Back to the story well I adjusted the rear band all was ok there put pan on filled with new amsoil and then went about the PITA front band adjustment which is when I figured out where all the material is coming from. I adjust it every 30K or so when…

  9. My problem started out with the normal od lock and unlock issues. I cleaned all the grounds and tightened them and did the same with the battery terminal connections. That seemed to solve the problem for about a week and a half then it started again. I ended up replacing the APPS and that worked for all of three days. Recently I have replaced the alternator along with the brake light switch. Now when I drive it if I barely accelerate the rpms will shoot way up to 2500 or so. It will shift normal when doing this however it will usually start the od lock and unlock a few minutes later. it will lock and unlock several times before downshifting a gear and sometimes staying in…

Got my 5" exhaust in from RSD yesterday and got it on today. Very very pleased so far with the sound and price. $260 to my front door aint bad for a 5" exhaust. With that being said, what some options for me to do next as far as reliability is concerned. Maybe upgrading the clutch just in case I get a wild hair and add some power mods down the road. One maybe not so good thing I found out the other day as I was checking older threads on here the other day, I ran across an old thread on how to tell if you vp44 was stock or not and it said if your vp has a void sticker on it that it was the original. Well guess what, mine has a big ole yellow sticker that says void on…

I may have a problem with my lp or fpg not sure. Yesterday I started my Cummins and noticed that the dash buzzer and wait to start light did not come on. The truck had been sitting for eight days without starting. After starting I noticed the fp fluctuated between 28 and 20 several times while at idle. Once driving it fluctuated between 18 and 24. The only thing I have done was changed the fuel filter when I serviced the truck about fifty miles ago. I installed a Donaldson ff. I believe I read that the Donaldson ff was 10 micro. I cant figure this deal out. Anyone had this problem before?

I just ordered 3 glow shift 7 color series pillar guages: fuel pressure, boost, and pyrometer, along with the triple pillar pod. I was wondering about how long of a job that might be.

  15. Started by dually,

This is what happened to me. I removed the 40 over rv fuel mpg test injectors, in my 8300 dually i did 18.5 mpg all hy miles. Then i removed the 20k over hg and replaced it with a factory one and put my 7x12 injectors back in. The 7x12 are around 200 to 240 over stock. I have to drive with the overdrive off because it can get smokey in traffic. So i drove around the city/hy mostly at 2000 rpm's and i am getting better fuel mileage. The turbo is a 64/71/13ss htt.So the question is do you think the gh change helped or running the turbo in it's peak map helped ? Or both.

I am looking at the Screaming Eagle 57/65/12 T3, I mostly pull 15k lbs loads. Not looking to hot rod just pulling and fuel mileage. I have DAP 50hp injectors. Anyone here have experience with this turbo? I recently pulled a load into a head wind and I still had plenty of HP just couldnt us it because egt's got to hot had to down shift to cool off. Thinking this turbo might cool it down a little better. Thanks

  18. ( 2000 Ram 1 tn 4wd diesel auto, 340000 miles) Now that I got my fuel pressure issue solved, my brakes have decided to act up. They have been "spongy" and not strong stoppers for about 200 miles. I was going to wait till I got home to address the problem. Now however the Brake and ABS dash lights have come on permanently when driving. I also do not hear the semi loud "boom" I always heard in the past when turning the key on. I am aware of the sensor on the rear differential, but is this the kind of symptom that a failed sensor would cause? Also is there not a 6 pin brake switch somewhere that occasionally fails. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Booster, master …

Hi, i'm new to this site and there is a-lot of neat stuff on here.I got a question that maybe someone can help me out with.I got a 24v engine out of a 2001 school bus been sitting for a long time so i threw it on my motor stand and put a new head on it. I want to test it on the stand but having trouble wiring the apps because it is on the throttle pedal and not on the side of the pump. I don't want to burn the pump up by doing something stupid for it is a new one.I have already had it running but only at idle i want to throttle it up but can't figure it out . Thanks Craig

I know this has been hit on before but could not find it. Anyway I changed my oil the other day and the filter was full to the top, when I started unscrewing it it started leaking out. It was never that full in the past with my other motor, it was always about 3/4. This is my second filter change sence I put eng. in so dont know this motor as well as the other eng. Maybe thats a good thing If you knew my other motor you would get it.
