Howdy folks, Been working to much to be around here lately. Still working to much, but thats better than not working at all.<br><br>I am having a slow start problem. The starter is turning the motor to slow like my battries are weak. I cheked the batteries this morning before starting and they read 12.5v before starting and after sitting all night. When I hit the switch it turned slowly and the voltage dropped to near 10.5. Thge engine started after a couple of seconds. It seems to start alittle slower thru the day. Iam getting worried one time it is not going to start. <br><br>The alternator is putting out 14v while running. When I first get in an…

I went to drain my fuel filter canister today, turned the drain valve nothing came out, not even a drop of fuel came out. So I pulled the canister it was full of fuel, pulled the filter out dumped the fuel out. Looked in the bottom and there is about 3/4" or so of sludge, it has the consistency or pours about like honey very thick. It's about the color of fuel. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I been running 3 oz of two stroke oil every other tank since I bought the truck. I wonder if it could be gathering in the bottom of the filter housing? I have only owned the truck since last Nov, I changed the filter the day after I bought the truck. I have not even put…

i am not new to diesel trucks, ive had a few and i worked at Dodge as a diesel tech, many years ago before the army. but like anything you havent done in 7 years, i have forgotten a few things so i have a question. i have a 2002 24v 6speed, 150's, 62/71/14, studs, FASS, valair single, 5", quadzilla i drive the truck with the quadzilla on level 1 95% of the time, and have been getting around 19-20mpg driving around base. im still getting the same fuel mileage, still drive the same, still running 2-cycle in my fuel. nothing has changed.i used to be able to put the quadzilla on anything higher than 3 and it would roast the tires at 35mph if you floored it, boost ca…

I don't have too much knowledge on building a reliable 47RE slush box for the 01. Seems everyone buys a built to order unit and I haven't found too much real world info for a DIY'er such as myself on good non-OEM kits. I have built quite a few gasser automatics but always to OEM specs but never to harness more power. I recently aquired a core 47RE that I plan to build. I've been looking at Suncoast rebuild kits. The 01 is gonna get a few more upgrades in the future but is never going to be wild so I don't think I need to build a $10,000 transmission. I was thinking of getting the Suncoast STAGE 1 KIT. What's y'alls opinions on which kit…

Does anyone have any experience with these guys or their turbos? https://instaspoolperformance.bigcartel.com/history-of-savage-fabrication I know the Borg stuff is newer technology, but I really REALLY like these guys’ story. They seem to care a lot about their craft and the product they build for their customers. I might be oversimplifying it, but it looks like he just remastered the he351cw and offers it as a true drop in replacement for the HX35.

Anyone using a smart lock on their automatic transmissions?I do a fair amount of off roading for hunting and camping. I've got an awesome torque converter, but if it won't stay locked up you get very little engine braking. I am wondering, since an exhaust brake pretty much needs a smart lock, why not add a smart lock as a partial solution towards a complete exhaust brake system? Do you see any issues to doing this? Is it hard on the transmission. My Trans is stock. How do these smart locks work in combination to an upgraded valve body?

there is a used smarty here for sale locally. They are asking 450. I looked it up and it looks like it sells new for 650 or 699. I dont have a tuner and have been undecided which to get when ready. But if this is one that is of good quality maybe I should ****** it up. It says you can do "stacking". I understand this means use with another box that will advance the timing. I'm not sure what the exact deal is with that. Why isn't one box designed to be enough?....maybe that's a dumb question....I just noticed I posted this in the wrong section...

So I have been quite aggressive with playing with this smarty. I have tried about 35 different combinations, and several workable tunes, and I also have debunked the long standing myth that the adjustment options were related to SW. They are not. Each setting is indeed a subset, that effects the whole fuel map. With being said, I am now at a crossroads. How do I know I have hit the sweet spot. For example I have several settings where I notice the same acceleration rate is accompanied by lower boost 10'lbs or if I change tm I can see +/-15lbs on same road section. The smoke control is also there. However on other settings I fee…

I am ordering a rental Smarty and high idle switch from DAP later today. Sole purpose is to enable factory high idle. It's my understanding that all i need to do is install any Smarty tune then return the truck to stock tune and I'm good to go. Is this correct?

I got a smoking deal on a used smarty for my 98. The guy was selling it for his buddy and wasnt sure if it was vin locked or not but didnt think it was. Last time he tried to download it the truck wouldnt take it so he put it back in the case and left it alone. His buddy says he can try to get a few bucks for it and I bit. He sient me pics and from them it did not look vin locked. I got it today and it would not finish downloaded, it would start at 0% and then time out communication or something. After this it my truck would not start so I was worried I just fried my ecm. I ended up unhooking my battery cables and then running the download, it worked but then it was just …

ok guys heres the deal a friend of mine tried hooking his smarty up to my 1998.5 it wouldnt let him, the smarty kept telling him to turn the truck on and then back off again in a row about 5 or 6 times. heres the second part of the puzzle after my friend talked with Bob Wagner from smarty he suggested a short in my wiring so i pluged in my very simple OBDII scanner into the truck it pulled up a P1683 code. this is/was the only code that my scanner found. so now to my question has anyone ever ran into/seen this issue before and what is a P1683 code? thanks for any and all help

Ok guys here is another question to ponder. Which one would you add/stack with a TST power programmer. A Smarty or the MVP tuner? If Im not mistaken they both control timing and are better for low end torque, but unsure which would be better of the two. Im looking for more low end torque to help the TST. The power band doesnt kick in with the TST until later in the rpm band. Any thoughts? Anybody have this set up? I know people tell me to just by both, but lets get real.

Hello new to this group, I’m having issues with a smarty touch I just purchased for my 99 24valve. Install went easy but when trying to tune my truck and error appears unknown software ECM. So I’ve looked into this and contacted smarty support, they stated since I have a Mopar performance ECM that was the cause and are willing to email me a REVO file to download and “should” fix my issue. Has anyone else ran into this problem ? And I’m having a hard time paying for this file when I just spent a grand on something that has done me no good thus far but I do understand the situation.... thank you

Well like the title states, I'm curious on your guys opinion on running a smarty with an auto trans? Obviously until I get my trans built, it'd be run on the lowest of settings or off. To me the smarty isn't just for the tune ability but also to be able to help others clear codes, set high idle and things like that. Only concern was I've heard it can be pretty smokey on autos and I'm not trying to drive around a smoke machine as my DD!

Not sure where to post this so please move to where appropriate. Question is can a Smarty be used to read generic codes? Ie non diesel? To be specific, 98 jeep grand Cherokee and a 05 set4? Just got a smart phone:hyper: and interested in an ob2 reader but if the Smarty will do it no need. Unless the app can double as a scan gauge.
