This is a discussion forum of the 1998.5 to 2002 2nd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L Cummins 24 Valve Turbo Diesel power train and drive line system. This includes all sub-system including wiring, fuel, oil, exhaust, air, transmission, computers and sensors.

    Just wondering if you have to put a different filter on if you use a pan thats an inch or so deeper. Working on a little side project Ramcharger and have a nice deep I would swap if I dont need to mod the filter. Thanks Chris

    hey guys looking for injection line for number 1 cylinder from injection pump to head just had one rupture broke down on the side of the road I 95 toll road approximately 2 miles north of exit 7 in Maine is anybody anywhere remotely close that might have a source for that injection line please call me ASAP directly my cell number is 541 232 9958

    Morning guys and gals, over the weekend my brother and I put a new head gasket and arp studs on my truck everything went smooth while I was bleeding the cooling system I noticed that a screeching sound coming from the drivers side of the the engine couldn’t really pin point the noise. Double checked over head and it was good. Did some searching on the forum and found another member that posted a video of the same issue after new injectors but never posted a fix.     New to the forum, but been on the sidelines as a reader for some time now. I drive a 2001 24 valve NV5600 cab & chassis with HO 5.9. I have an issue that seems to show up as the temperature drops, but not always when cooler. The truck starts fine and takes off fine then all of a sudden power loss. No throttle response until speed drops to 35 mph (in sixth gear, different in other gears) then power kicks back in and we are going again for a bit until power loss repeats. Have also noticed when this is happening I have no operating temperature increase on the temp gauge. Can say the gauge is true due to no heat while the event is happening. …

    I could use some help figuring out what turbo I have. I use to have the documentation that came with it but it got destroyed. The shop I got it from 3 years ago is closed. I have included a picture of the tag.

    After getting the valve cover off and pulled the 8mm bolts holding injectors those bolts were loose. Then took a lot of force to pull number one out. The injector was carboned in place. No copper washer. I've got a fight with 5 and 6 yet to pull out of the head. The truck came in with a complaint of pressure in the fuel tank and spitting fuel out the filler neck. Mark just found the copper washer buried in the carbon build up. Managed dig out.

  9. Last night and today was very cold in my area so last night I started the truck and let it run for about 45 minutes because I didn’t want the diesel to freeze. I have about 3/4 of a tank of diesel. this morning I went to start the truck and it started up I let it run ( not sure how long it ran for before it died) and went in the house. I came back about 45 minutes later and the truck was off I noticed there was zero fuel pressure on my edge controller I went to start it up again And it ran for about 30 seconds And died out. I noticed the 0216 code which is timing fuel pressure. I am wondering if the fuel frozen inside the filters or my VP 44 went bad again? I opened th…

    I have a 1999 dodge ram 3500 2wd dually and i started hearing what i thought was a wheel bearing when i turn left. I jacked up the passenger side and checked for any play in the wheel and felt the tiniest bit of play in the bearing(or so i thought) i did the passenger side front inner and outer wheel bearings the inner bearing race had one pea sized spot that was all fuckered up like someone hit it with something by accident, the outer looked fine but replaced them both and the seal.     So how much to shorten driveshaft? I measured the distance with 70 and driveshaft pushed right up against the transfer case there was 2 5/8”. But I also took out 3 extra leaf springs (someone put them in and it rode like a tank). So now I have the 80 in. Looks like have to shorten driveshaft 1 3/4”. From what I’ve been reading people are only shorting 1 inch. Which is right? Thanks.

    I would like to know when your fuel gauge sending unit goes out, does it go all the way to empty? Or does it fool you into thinking you have enough fuel and you just end up running out of fuel?Anyone remember? Thanks very much.

  14. I need to change the air dog 100 filter which filter do I choose. I see the 2 micron and the 10 micron on amazon not sure which is best I believe there is a 10 micron in there now. Thanks

  15. If anyone remembers my old post, I have done a bunch of stuff to it and just did a ton more this last month. Decided to make a new thread because the other one was getting old and enough has changed I think I need to start over. So this began with me fighting what seemed like EMI in a particular spot in town. At the time with the Edge programmer, I could watch the boost signal drop to 0 then back up to the true value and back to 0 again, truck was fluctuating between tuned and not tuned is what it felt like.   16. 1999 Cummins 24 valve , quadzilla , 100hp injectors, nv4500, air dog 150 when I try to start my truck with key half the time it will fire right up other half it will turn over for ever and won’t go . dont believe it’s a prime problem as I checked for leaks and made sure everything was tight , you can turn truck off for half a second and try to start , just turns over but if I roll start it , it fires right up no problem ??????? cleaned all batt cable ends ,and grounds help please it’s geting annoying

    Got my Frantz bypass filter installed. I am running the BHAF, so I mounted the filter in the same area screwed to the wheel well. I changed my oil and main filter at the same time. Had 10,000 miles on the oil and filter. Deborah tried to talk me into not changing my oil, but I had an aversion to that concept. Upon initial fire up it took a minute or two for the oil to start coming out the line to the oil fill cap. One it started coming out I was surprised at the volume. I assumed it would be less. My oil has never stayed amber color after oil change. It has had a dark tinge to it as soon as things started circulating after oil change. After a few days the oil is visibly…

    Hello new to this group, I’m having issues with a smarty touch I just purchased for my 99 24valve. Install went easy but when trying to tune my truck and error appears unknown software ECM. So I’ve looked into this and contacted smarty support, they stated since I have a Mopar performance ECM that was the cause and are willing to email me a REVO file to download and “should” fix my issue. Has anyone else ran into this problem ? And I’m having a hard time paying for this file when I just spent a grand on something that has done me no good thus far but I do understand the situation.... thank you

    I have used a 150-amp fuse on the last three W-T mods I have done and want to try a circuit breaker on the next one. So my question is which 150 amp circuit breaker did you use that is trouble free and where did you get it.
