Hi guys, I want to know if I can tap the hole in the hy35 housing where the metal hose goes for the wastegate. I want to put the elbow that come with the edge jwa for increase boost?? Does it work or I'm better with a j-hook to increase boost?? Second question. For my 2001 24v automatic, does this vp44 pump #BOSH 0470506005 ---- #CUMMINS 3676670 fit directly on my truck or I need to get another key for the shaft?? If its bolt-on right with no problems?? I found one near. guys want 500$ new and said its for 1998-1999. It's a close enterprise ... Thank you

I have my injection pump off and have to replace the bracket. Is it true the vacuum and power steering pumps can be removed when the vp is also out? I’m worried about timing gears falling out of place thanks

  3. I am wanting to do a 24 valve cummins swap into a truck and i was wanting to know if a factory wiring harness could be modified to work without the original truck. I have been told that the 98.5'-00' trucks and the 01'- 02' have slightly different wiring. My question is has anyone done a stand alone wiring harness or does anyone have a diagram of a factory harness that has been turned into a stand alone harness?

  4. See attached file. I'm trying to figure out the path of the fuel flow within the VP44 injection pump (IP). I'm interested in the slight possibility of additional cooling for the IP. Does anyone have any other pics or drawings or diagrams they can upload? I've done a bit of research on forums and I've talked to BlueChip at lengths. The VP44's computer sits on top of a heatsink or is integral to it, this is bolted to the IP housing, and the diesel fuel passing under the heatsink cools the computer. There is a vane pump at the inlet of the VP44. The "ww.chinahanji.com" drawing is helpful. I'm thinking the area directly beneath the computer, adjacent to th…

Hello, I am in the market for an injection pump and have tried calling DAP, and tried texting also with no response. Does anybody know if the below pump is an Industrial Injection pump by chance? Thanks.

So, my truck has been driving okay, then out of nowhere, it starts to surge. buck and have no power. I was about 6 miles from home, so I limp it home. it idles okay, but any acceleration and it surges. sputters, etc. Put it on the code reader, and the first one was P0216, VP44 timing, the next code, P0230, and then the companion code P1693. along with P0521, P0460, P1693. Dead VP44?! (Blue Chip) and I've only put abut 80k with a new Raptor lift pump. My fuel gauge was not working, and the float level error code with almost no fuel pressure ~10 psi.

So I've been trying to get my truck going, and it's been hell. I bought a set of 150hp injector tips, and used the pop tester at school to set the pop off pressures (all were at or just under 4500psi,stock recommended pressure), put them in along with new o-rings, and copper washers. I got the truck started, and it idles great. But as soon as I roll on the throttle, it pops, sputters, tons of smoke. Its been doing this, and I've pulled it apart about three times checking to make sure I didn't rip or tear any o-rings during assembly. So far everything looks good, everything is torqued to spec. Fuel pressure is a steady 20 psi. Do I suspect the injection …

What are he symptoms of a dying Vp44? Current one has 15 k on it the P.O. put it on a while ago in 2014 I think... as you know I have been having power issues but now it’s been fine lately. Not gonna be surprised if it comes back though. This was my next concern with the power issue. Is there a way to test the pump?

Good afternoon everyone, hope you all are doing well. I have a pretty good idea but wanted to get some more opinions on my VP44 issues. I immediately get 0216 and 1693 after I clear the codes and start the truck. Here is the good trail.... It drives just fine unloaded and even pulling when it's cool. but when the heat starts to build, it seems to heat soak and then starts cutting power. The hotter is gets (truck and weather) the worse it does it. I drove it unloaded to work at 4 am this morning, ran like a dream. I never have less that 14 PSI, mostly 15-16 of fuel pressure. Seems to me it's pretty clear the magic computer box on the VP44 is getting hot and crap…

So I finished the W-T ground mod and was finally able to rule out the injection pump as my no start problem. Sort of. I followed the diagnostic from Bluechip Diesel and others to do some basic electrical testing at the VP harness. I verified that pin 6 was grounding, and pin 7 had power at the RUN position on the ignition but NOT on the START position. I didn’t check the power situation on the wire to pin 5 after reconnecting the plug because I didn’t have power on 7 at the start position. I also ran test leads to pin 6 from battery ground and pin 7 (fused) to battery positive. Truck fired right up. I couldn’t find anywhere on a forum so far where someone explains what m…

Anyone know the factory spec's for the lift pump on a 2000 5.9 24 valve? Would like to know what cummins has to say on the pressure. I will be adding a aftermarket lift pump. But would like to know what the factory specs are also. Pete

i've been noticing things over time, and tried to explain them away.last summer the truck dies not very often when i use the jake and make a shift down to 3rd. did that like three times. then winter comes, and i use the 3cyl idle and the jake, and the truck doesn't stay running. turn the jake off, and egts are only at 200* in 3cyl idle, and the snap of that idle isn't there either, it really only sounds like high idle.last week it died on my 5 times in a day with the jake on and that downshift into 3rd.you guys think it is my vp44? it has 123k on it and i believe it to be original. i've treated it to fuel pressure and 2 stroke oil since i've owned it, but that's only been…

So I’ve been through the electrical and I’ve done the ground references and have thrown the 0216 code since I bought the truck but I got away with it for a long time by getting an air dog and improving the fuel to the pump (at mopar1973mans suggestion) and it went away for a yr or two but now I’m consistently getting the dead pedal again and throwing the code again I’m pretty sure the best way to fix it is replace the vp44 just really looking for mopar1973man to send me the info to buy one from the forum cuz I trust his opinion thx for ur time and anyone else who wasted their time reading this.. my truck is an 01 24v ho 6 sp stock injectors

Hi All,I've been getting occasional 0216 codes since January. Today it took a long time to start and then wouldn't accelerate at all. Idle sounded normal, but it just stumbled when I pressed the pedal. I pulled the codes and got 0253, 0251, 0216, 1688 and 1693. Looks like its time for a new injector pump, and a new fuel pump, and oh yes, gauges.I'm thinking a stock VP44, Air Dog 100 and fuel pressure, pryo and boost gauges. Anybody have any good or bad experiences with any particular vendors? Thanks

Hey Mike , wanted to ask your opinion on something, I had send you this link last month http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-powertrain/260716-vp44-electronic-fix.html . So I did it on my second truck that I have been working on because I was getting dead pedal and the code P0216 so I gave it a try and now I have been trying to turn the truck on and it wont start. This is what I have done so far : I loosen the banjo bolt on the vp and fuel did came out from there with a lot of pressure ,then I loosen injector line 3,4 and 5 and I am only getting fuel on injectors 4 and 5 ,on 4 is were it comes out the most and on 5 it only drips . Could I have messed up the pump ? I …

Ok, so I been trying to search on this and I haven't found anything exact! truck was running perfect. 2 days ago pulled into drive way and got out of truck to run in house and white smoke barreling out of exhaust (ALOT)!! shut off truck restarted and same thing with really rough idle.. took it around the block slow acceleration boost is way late and constant white/grey smoke won't clear up even when turbo spools up, and popping out of exhaust at high rpm.. no codes with key trick pertaining to pump just 0500 and 0234.. odd thing to me from searching is no codes and it will fire right up everytime I start it. No CEL. I pulled the injectors Sunday took them apart cl…

I sent my truck into the shop to get high idle set on it and it started to act weird. It recently has thrown a code while my brother has been driving and cuts out. Its a communition between vp and something I cant remember nor have the code number on hand. I had a holley blue on and eliminated it thinking it was the problem it is still acting up. Under hard acceleration and cruising it will die out and usually catch idle if not shut off. Im guessing the vp44 is going out or the lift pump what test can I do to check and pinpoint the problem. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge on hand. Thank you for future advice. ---------- Post added at 09:19 PM ---------- Previous po…

Changed out a perfectly running HOVP44, for a SOVP44. Reason for the change was to help out in the top end, truck specs are: 2002 ram 2500, BD R700 twins, SAC 7x12 injectors (DAP), Airdog 200, springs & pushrods, arp 425's. We can't seem to keep the truck running now, impossible to start when hot, (starts fine cold), and if we immediately let off the throttle it dies. The SOVP44 was purchased from DAP. Batteries are brand new, full tank of fuel, no codes, timbo apps reset, blead the whole fuel system 4 times (high n low pressure), tried dropping the fuel pressure from 18psi all the way down to 12psi, no help, also pulled the Airdog fuse. Any advise would be grea…
