  1. I was looking under the truck after spotting a stain by the passenger side of my truck directly below the tire. It also appears that it has gotten on the tire. However under closer inspection this is what I found. I am going to check the vent tomorrow and see if it plugged up. But other than that has anyone changed the seals in a Dana 60 before?

  2. It broke down on me today, was going down the highway, it started to lose power and white/blue smoke real bad (not sure what i was more concerned about getting off the 4 lane highway i was on than paying attention to the smoke lol) then before i could get pulled over it died and would not restart. No codes with the key trick, had it towed to a well trusted shop and theyre gonna get to it first thing in the morning, i was headed to a doc appt and didnt have time. Not to mention with my schedule here lately i wouldnt have time to work on it of i wanted to. We'll see tomorrow i guess.-Jordan-

  3. Hello, all. Was out enjoying the day with the kids after work. Drove to the park. Went to go home truck started fine, drove away half way home truck died. Lost power, dead pedal and pulled off the road. I had 15-16 pound of fuel pressure, called my dad he brought out my snap on modus and recieved the gift of the P-1688 code. I tried to restart the truck after a min or two after pulled over. it wanted to start but didn't. I could here the airdog pump running when the key was cycled. Truck had been running fine. When i was home I varied fuel at the inlet of the VP. tried cracking injectors 1,3,5. but nothing. I trust the knowledge of Mike and the others on here the most. No…

  4. As the title states, someone gave me a Cummins engine for free.... the gent is an old friend of mine and having to move out of a warehouse where he has been storing years of stuff, from MIG airplane parts to just plain misc stuff. He told me about this last week and I drove over with the trailer and we loaded it up today. Its a Cummins 6BT5.9-g5 engine. Fairly complete but it has some "ventilation" in each side of the block where a connecting rod came loose. Reason I wanted it was hoping that it had an injection pump and giblets that might be worth saving, then would just scrap the rest. Getting it back to the shop I find that it is evidently a "stationary running…

  5. Well, finally got the truck running back normal again and was going to take it out in the countryside to some property I have with a friend about 75 miles away from everything. Got the truck loaded up and ready to go and as the fuel pressure was just a few pounds low recently thought I would adjust it up a bit and did so in the driveway before leaving. It always runs a good 16-17 psi at idle, and down to a low of 12-13 at WOT. Steady running at 14-15 psi which is fine with me. Got on the road and headed out in the boonies early this morning. About 15 miles out noticed that the fuel pressure was down again, sometimes even hitting 10 or less, which then triggere…

Radiator filled with engine oil...FAST! Took about 15 minutes to empty half my pan. Ran just fine. NO LEAKS in the oil cooler. Could an oil cooler gasket fail enough to allow that much oil into the water jacket?

  7. I have a really different one here. Truck has been running fine recently then while driving to work yesterday the problems just began.Had to stop and pick up some things and when I turned the ignition switch off, the engine kept on running. This had happened one time before but about 2 years ago. We re-cycled the ign switch and the engine then stopped.Ok so I had no choice but to put it into 4th gear and let the clutch out. Engine then stopped and I then played with the key and ignition switch and no luck, even in the "off" position the truck had several red lights still on in the instrument panel. Went in, took care of my errands and returned in 10 minutes and the truck …

  8. It's a 01 3500 quad high premium 2wd -7 HO 6spd I bought 2 yrs back. My first diesel, Ram, it's has some miles but no damage or rust, could use a new dash and some paint. When i picked it up the cruise was Inop. and the trip computer read no CCD but the gauge cluster works fine. Is the CCD bus broken up into diff. sections?32 If both read outs are on the same bus shouldn't they both have No CCD? The Stereo has a aftermarket deck in its place and the steering wheel collum radio controls are disconnected. Can a poor radio install cause a bus failure? It has a strong engine but it's 235 hp, not the -7 HO it originally had, this is probably my cruz issue , it also pull…

Last night, was driving around doing errands and suddenly a voice told me look at your fuel pressure. Pressure was at 12psi and kept an eye on it. Would stay steady at this pressure driving around but was ready to shut her down If needed. Guess the filter replacement didn't Fox my problem. Got home waited to clear the ecu and bump stated it. Pump sounded like it was dying! Guess I'm going to be calling airdog in the morning for a replacement! Shoot, first one went 9 months, this time almost 3 years...

This was copied from Chevron Web site... Come to find out it illegal to mix WEO/WMO in diesel fuel in California. Also once again even Chevron mentions that putting WEO/WMO in diesel fuel is a common preactice but suggest away from it. Being of the same problems I been talking about... ASH CONTENT (Ash cotent is to high!) Ash - Minor - Can damage fuel injection system and cause combustion chamber deposits. Causes damage in the long term... CARBON RESIDUE (Blow by gasses / carbon) Carbon Residue Minor Measures coking tendency of fuel; may relate to engine deposits. Causes damage in the long term... SEDIMENT (All the wear metals/debris) Water and Sedimen…

Just installed a genuine holset 60mm compressor wheel and housing on the WH1C, from GDS. I believe it was a 56/60/12 and now it's a 60/60/12. Only took it on a small victory ride but it seemed to pull better in lock up in the lower rpms and up high too. Already had a boost elbow and a 38 lb spring waste gate. I was wondering if anyone has experience with hybrids and how efficient they are for around 400 horsepower. With my current mods: edge comp, 60 hp injectors I should have around 415 hp at the crank and I'm done increasing power. No sled pulls or track time, is the 60mm compressor too much for 12cm turbine housing?...no gauges yet

  13. been having several issues for awhile now. truck sometimes will not start after being driven, then shut off for a short time. so I lean towards an air leak in the fuel system. secondly, the tach will drop to zero while idling or driving, with significant loss of power and shifting issues. lastly, im on my third throttle position sensor(first actual MOPAR one tho). when accelerating and it finally shifts into overdrive, if you're not getting on the highway and getting on it, and just kind of cruising at 45-55, rpm's start jumping around quite a bit. I was resigned to diagnose all these issues individualy until a friend who is way more familiar with diesels than I am sugges…

  16. '99...Coming out of the big wiring harness below the vp44 at the side, front, area of the motor right where the engine serial number tag is. There are two electric connectors that are factory plugged. Just curious if anyone knows what they were supposed to be for. They both have factory connector plug caps on them

I spent quite a bit of time searching for the correct belt for a Mechman alternator install. What belt are you running on your small pulley high performance alternator? THANKS!

How exactly does the quadzilla adrenaline read boost and what should my boost be? The app on my phones reading like 19 max. I’m not hearing any boost leaks though.

  19. My fuel filter is still in the factory housing and used to just go to the local cummins shop to get a fuel filter but I have moved and would really like to know what to put in my truck. I think it was fleetguard but cant remember now. This topic is popular in the 3rd gen section but it never really comes up in the 2nd gen forums. So, what do you use?

  20. Newbie here, play nice. My son's 2001 24V 6Sp manual has started an interesting/frustrating new habit. Seems as if once the beastie gets up to temperature and your changing throttle positions I'm getting an uncommanded shutdown. I verified this phenomenon this afternoon by shoving a thumbtack through my Red/Lt. Green 12V+ wire going to my VP44 and hooking up a VOM to it. Sitting in the driveway I let it idle and gave it some light accelerator action until Barney the Wonder Mule warmed up. I opened the throttle to about 2000 rpm once it got close to 190 degrees and ran the accelerator pedal above and below 2000 RPM about 200 rpm either side of the 2K mark. Sure enough wit…
