  1. Hello all, just joined the page so please forgive me if I don't do this right. I have a 98 2500 24v auto, and ever since I've owned the truck I've been having this issue but just never attempted to do anything about it until now. I've just rebuilt my transmission to hold 550hp, am looking to add a tuner but I know I should fix this before I try to add more power. I have read the forum here about adjusting the apps and numerous other forums and cannot find anything to specifically relate to my issue. To start, my issue is that when I plug in my OBD scanner, my APPS sensor was reading 8.6% at idle and 71.3% at wide open throttle. So, after doing so…

My 99 QCLB has 315k on it and is on the 3rd lift pump. The previous owner had the fuel pump replaced by the dealer the first time then used a big rig shop's replacement similar to the carter. So far it has been working great. The big rig shop also installed a fuel pressure dummy light which comes on only when with the wait to start is there. One of the banjo fittings on the VP44 is where the dummy light has been installed. Once the truck is running it never has come on. I mostly use the truck for hauling a little 7x12 utility trailer, camping, and pretty much any other excuse I can use to drive it. Reading through the different articles I see the first upgrade I sho…

I have 4 inch mbrp system and it is loud and drones all day long. I want a quiet muffler that will not effect performance too much. Any ideas?

  5. This will be some testing info I've tested personally over multiple trucks for those looking for that perfect sound. Really has zero effect on power but if you want that great cummins grumble we all know and love then think about this one>>>> so your in the market for an exhaust? There is tons of options and brands....so brand is pretty much irrelevant... only changes really are the outlet angle. MBRP comes back on a 45* outlet, Diamond eye 90* outlet and some others do 60*. Really it doesn't make that big of a difference other then the amount of sound you hear in the cab. Windows down 45* is quietest, 90* is loudest. You'll hear it crack and echo …

Good morning, currently installing my FASS 165 LP and the directions have me installing an Add-A-Fuse into a ignition hot fuse under the hood it does not talk about wiring the LP into the PCM at all. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I should place this "add-a-fuse" for the ignition hot. I've added the install manual i'm working with for reference, it's on PDF page 13 step E and F. Thanks and cheers! TS-D08-095G-or-TS-D08-165G-2.pdf

  7. what is the issue with setting fuel pressure to higher levels, 20 or 25 psi so under load it can flow more volume keeping pressure say around 19 psi at wot. also I'veheard that as long as it starts then it is ok....is that the limiting factor of the pressure going into vp44?

  8. I have been diagnosing my Camshaft sensor issue after installing a new ECU in my 1999 5sp Manual 2500. I have been going through the article: http://articles.mopar1973man.com/3rd-generation-dodge-cummins/60-obdii-error-codes/312-p0341-camshaft-position-cmp-sensor-signal I am using the pin-out from the FSM to locate the wire positions in the ECU connector and the sensor connector. There are numbers on the ECU connector for reference. I have found the conducting wire which actually goes to the Ecu connector in spot 9 instead of spot 17 as specified in the pin-out. There is full continuity between the Pin C in the cam sensor connector and pin 9 in the Ecu…

Dang! I'm not catching any breaks these days. Doing my weekend inspection on the truck and noticed my coolant reservoir is down to the add mark just about and then noticed the small drip puddles on the floor. Tracked down the leak to my oil cooler gasket is leaking. Hopefully, that is a fairly straightforward repair for that gasket. Any information on this task would be great.

Well, the day's finally come!!! Called and setup my appointment with Jon so he can set me up with a proper transmission! I can't wait to finally have a trans that I won't have to worry about and then I can start looking at some more power! I'll keep this thread up to date on my trip out there and try and snap a few pics here and there and then any follow on stuff once I have the trans installed.

I Bought a reman vp44 pump combo set with the lift pump and fuel filter from Thoroughbred Diesel and I am only getting 12 psi pressure at the fuel filter out of the new carter lift pump. The truck runs good till you start driving under a load the pressure drops down to 7or8psi and it throws the 1689 no communication between the ecm and injection pump. Did I just waste money buying the combo with this carter lift pump? Has anyone else dealt with Thouroughbred before?

My first post here, hello! I am having a dead pedal issue with my 98.5 24V 4x4 2500 5spd, which I bought new, has 183K miles now.Earlier in the year, the dead pedal was accompanied by the check engine light and codes, and I replaced the MAP sensor to fix the issue. I believe the cause may have been related to a fuel leak from the fuel heater grommet, and saturated the MAP sensor plug after a hauling trip to NM when I was pushing more fuel out. I removed the fuel heater and plugged the grommet hole.About mid year, I "fixed" the 5th gear nut issue, I disconnected my batteries before wire welding the nut to the shaft (laughs or applauses insert here). I have never had to res…

Anybody know where to get dust shields for a 1999 3500? None of the auto parts stores carry them. Also checked Dorman, Summit, and Amazon. No luck. I'd think somebody has to offer them.

Friday I serviced the transmission, including taking out the valve body to replace plastic accumulator piston with metal one, (manual valve?) to allow flow to torque converter while in Park. I have noticed the last couple of days that the truck - even when warm after 30 mile drive - idles higher than normal, around 1250 versus 800ish RPM. This is in park or neutral. The tach isn't wonky, I only looked at the tach because it sounded fast. Idle while in drive seems normal. I have checked the transmission fluid after 30 mile drive home on interstate, truck in neutral on level ground and it's in the middle of the hatch mark, same as the last 30k miles. Fluid is not "foa…

  16. Howdy! The truck: '02 2500 4x4 with the 47re transmission. Gonna do my best to bang this out in the most concise way possible. The problem: under hard acceleration from low speeds to highway speed and also cruising along above about 68 MPH I am experiencing what feels like a hard shudder or very quick cut outs. Recently preformed the grounding mod described in W-T's thread "Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock". Batteries are fairly new and terminals are clean. VP44 and lift pump both replaced at the same time a few years ago. VP44 came from Industrial Injection and I usually run 2 stroke oil in the fuel. FASS Titanium 95gph lift pump. Just chang…

  18. Hello, new to the forum. Long time reader. I’ve been reading up on everyone’s mileage per gallon and I’m embarrassed. I can pull 12-14mpg empty. Mostly highway miles, running in my level 1 fuel economy tune. Granted my truck having wide wheels and being leveled doesn’t help. But 14mpg just isn’t right. I was wondering if anyone had tips or tricks for me? I drive pretty nice to get these numbers and I want to do something about it. I know there isn’t a 100% way to get 20+ mpg but I should be getting better than this don’t you think? All my mods are in my sig.

I had some errands to run today and drove the truck. As normal the temperature came up and held steady at 190*. I stopped at the local station to top off the fuel and left the truck running. It was in the low teens here in Michigan today. I know it's colder in other states but.............By the time I had topped off and went in to pay the temperature had dropped to about 160*Why..........

I just got a new Dune Buggy that is a good bit larger/heavier than my old one, & the last time I came went out to the desert I noticed that my EGT's were a big higher than they used to be. There are only a few 1/2 mile to 1 mile long stretches that it really gets up there & this last time I just simply took my foot out of it & slowed the whole rig down. that REALLY kills the momentum going over the mountain though........... Id like to get some ideas of what you guys have used to reduce EGT's. thanks Bob
