My '99 4x4 diesel used to fire right up , lately sometimes it has to crank longer than usual. Not real long cranking over, but noticeably a little longer crank time. Not all the time but did it today 3 times. It always fires though. I dont drive it every day . Drove it last two days probably 200+ miles I just put new batteries and military spec terminals and cables on it. Battery ground to frame and body grounds good. Has 164,000 miles, new VP a few years ago , lift pump pressure is ok, Fuel filter changed 5000 miles ago, and the old one was ok anyway . I run 2 stroke oil in the fuel all the time I plan on putting a Fass pump on it but " Idont think" that is the p…

Just curious what everyone is seeing for oil pressure. I'm seeing 60-70 idle cold engine, 25-40 idle warm engine and 50-60 cruising down the highway.

Around 2000 rpm upon acceleration it sounds like I have a boost leak coming from the back of the engine in the center of my dash. The head gasket isn't noticeably leaking anywhere and my coolant level is good. I replaced the intake horn gaskets, intake manifold gasket and put new intercooler boots on. I'm thinking the head is lifting, due in part because I swapped my HY35 for WH1C with an aftermarket wastegate set at 35 psi. And no gauges...yet...maybe it's just more air sound I don't know, wastegate?. Any thoughts?

Hello again, I have had this starting problem for about 6 or 8 months now at least and I'm getting tired of it. I cant find any write ups online about it. Its a 1998 dodge cummins obviously. I don't really know how to describe it cause it is so random and all the lights work and try fires up fine once it finally cranks over. I'de guess about every 40th turn of the key is a dud and then the next 20 or 30 cranks after that are dude until the truck decides it wants to crank over and start. What could this be? I have checked every fuse in the truck that a test light can check. I have eyeballed all the square fuses under the hood. Everything seems okay. It has a new ignition i…

Here's my tale of woe. '99 3500 5.9 Cummins A/T--Started out with the the torque converter lock/unlock issue, found the cure purely by accident (pulled the alternator charge line which was lying directly on the alternator away from the alternator, and problem went away for a couple weeks until the line returned to its original position--ah ha!!!). Traced the charge line, and ended up basically doing the W-T Ground Mod, things ran perfectly for about 4 years. I could not believe that crazy ground splice on the port side of the motor--engineer must have been hitting the sauce on that one. Wish I'd found this site back then!!! Forgot to mention, I bought the …

I've got a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with 92k miles. I have Afe airbox, Afe Stanless exhaust, Banks intake and big hoss box, and a Fass factory replacement lift pump. I am getting the P0216 error code and am getting the dead throttle. The dead throttle only happens between 45 and 60 mph when the tranny shifts in to overdrive and with easy throttle pressure. If your on the throttle enough to get the truck to 70 or 75 it does not do it. Once it goes dead in will work again once you get the throttle past 83,2 %. The problem also seems to be much worse once the outside air temp is above 70 degrees. I have done a pressure test and the idle pressure is 17 lbs, rolling WOT…

Another thermo question... Just flushed the cooling system today as truck takes a while to warm up, used Cat cooling system flushing liquid but I doubt I'd got enough to do the job properly so I'll have to get more and do it again but it has softened deposits I can see in the rad, backflushed heater core and engine/rad with water after draining the cleaner, took a look at the thermostat which was closed (cold engine) BUT tried to remove it and decided the only way it's coming out is scrap so I left it where it was for now so I can't tell what opening temp is fitted so whats the best to use ? truck is 98.5 2500 4x4 short quad. I think looking at the colour of the cool…

So, right now, I have the stock HX35 and stock sticks. Edge Juice w/Attitude on 3x3 (Drive-mode). I have a set of 155hp BD Pulse-XXX sticks in the garage. My perfect-world scenario would be go to twins, but that's not in the checkbook right now. So, I'm looking at possibly going to either HX40, Silver Bullet, or Super B, or something along those lines, provided they're large enough to air the 155 sticks. I'm not scared to buy a used turbo, either, provided it's from someone I can trust (forum friend, etc.) as the > $1000 price tags are not an option for me. I still need to install my dual-disc clutch, and I need to do tire, brakes, and a radiato…

This is my first post so I'll try to get everything out on the table. Let me start by saying I have done all of the work on my truck 1998.5 24v dodge 2500. My current mods in my signature are up to date as of today. So first mods into the transmission which is the 47RE included a BD Stage 3 build kit following a goerend triple disk. I drove it that way for a little over 3 months. Money came around now I just recently purchased the ranging pressure valve body from goerend. Still running stock flexplate and shafts(I know not a good thing to do). After installing the new VB everything was fine for all of about 2 days. On the 3rd day is when the problems started. …

Engine light came on. When I chkd code by turning key 3x, I got P0237. How do I clear the code so that after I disconnect the Quad module, I can see if that was the problem? If not the Quad, I assume its the MAP sensor. Anything else I should consider? By the way, where's the MAP sensor located?thx,Eric

Ok. I see you guys say 20-15 psi on fuel pressure is good. I got some gauges and it reads 10psi at idel and 5-6psi WOT. I thought maby I hooked up the gauge wrong and so I did it again and I am sure its right. Now what do I need to do. Truck never studders and starts good hot or cold. Truck runs good really if I did not have gauges I would not be able to tell the difference. I dont want to run the VP low on fuel since that all that lubs it. What should I do?

Have any of you changed your metal heater exchange coolant lines that run under the exhaust manifold to make more room for the 3 piece exhaust manifold? See attached pic of where I am pointing to. The piping is really tight and close to it. I can only adjust it a little and the new turbo blanket will help with the heat to them. I was thinking of changing them somehow and was wondering if anyone has done this mod? Thanks!!

My truck a 2002 hd 2500 5 speed, threw the following codes today P PCU 1693, then P ECU 1689.Truck has been running great for 140000+ miles, I replaced the lift pump awhile back with flowmax from bd. It ran fine after the replacement no codes, and fixed the problem of the engine surging, when I first engage the clutch, had to fuel the engine up a little, even in first, but more present in 2nd. So i was thinking the stock lift pump was weak.I just added a Bully Dog Outlook with PE to the truck. After this I noticed the surging came back (when on a power level other than stock) especially when the engine cold, have to fuel engine up a little when engaging the clutch, or sur…

Drove the truck last Tuesday, then proceeded to get awfully sick so truck sat and became a nest. Wanted to move my trailer, no start, and found this. No idea how to take the pins out of the plugs so I can attempt repair. Guess I'll research this over the weekend. Sweatshirt weather today, and Winter begins tonight with sleet and snow, and 4 degrees by Sunday! Late start this year.

I installed an adjustable boost elbow today preset at 30psi. Before the elbow with the Comp on 5x5 I was seeing a moderate amount of smoke at wot. After the elbow installation it's rollin' some serious coal now at wot. Am I mistaken thinking that there should be less smoke with the elbow than without? Truck runs awesome just curious about the smoke I think I choked a poor guy on a bicycle today when I passed him.

so i know it's a code for one of the relays for the grid heater....my question is, where is said relay, where do i find a new one, and how much will i be out?i think my grid heater comes on at idle now no matter what the outside temp is...and this causes my truck to sound like it has a lope...and my scan gauge will say my IAT's are up over like 110 degrees if i idle for like 10 mins on a somewhat warm day....so my choices are to either get the new relay and fix the problem, or do the lazy thing and unplug the grids for good till next winter...haha what do y'all think i should do?

Alright been messing with this for a couple of weeks. Started when it first got cold. Noticed my heat was not as warm as usual. I checked my radiator and it was about half gallon low. After I filled it up I drove it and the heat seemed to be better. When I got home I noticed some antifreeze on the ground. Looked up there and found it dripping from the drain plug. Replaced the plug which I might add is a stupid design and pretty much worthless to actually drain your radiator. Why cant it be a pitcock drain. NOOOO it has to be some nasa frickin design with an O ring that doesn't actually work after you remove it the first time. :banghead: Sorry !! Anyway it wasn't the plug …

updated i had a thought to get a database kinda of egt temps while running at a certain speed to see where we all stand compared to each others different setup. also to assist in baselining some info. Mainly its to get an idea of EGTs with each setup. If you have a gauge post up, if not dont guess. (this isnt a competition, its to help all of us out) I will start... @70mph my egts are appx 750F no headwind and outside temp about 75 deg @65mph my egts are appx 620F slight crosswind temp 70 35" tires 6th gear nv5600 stock setting RV275 injectors HX35 level road surface NO load
