I just heard of using ATF as lube in the fuel. Any thoughts on doing this?

Today I dropped the transmission pan on my 1998.5 24V Cummins 2500, automatic transmission. I read the manual first to review the task.I bought the oil amount they recommended, at 4 quarts. I reinstalled the pan and put 4 quarts back in so far. ATF is just barely reading on the low end of the dipstick. 2 different places in the manual say 2 different capacities, for the same tranny model. As seen below here. I just dropped the pan to install a new gasket that was leaking. Looking in my drain tub, there is a lot more than 4 quarts that came out. I am headed back to the store to by more oil. Looking at the drain tub, I'd guess about 7-8 quarts draine…

Anyone tried this in their truck, added to the fuel that is? I had an extra quart the other day so I dumped it in when I filled up so it would be right at 128:1. I got .5 to .8 mpg more than I ever have before! Anyone got any thoughts or explanations? There was no 2-cycle in the tank at all, not even a trace! As I understand it, ATF+4 is fully synthetic.

Just moved to the area ( Lawrenceville ). Normally do all my own work, but currently living in an apartment while looking for a new home. Unfortunately, apt does not allow residents to work on their vehicles here. Currently having extended crank time/loss of prime/ECM issues. Looking for a knowledgeable, honest tech in the area to work on my 2500 who knows OUR trucks and systems. Would be willing to travel for the right guy if rate is reasonable. Any help or direction is appreciated. Meanwhile, everyone have a great holiday and stay safe. 98 1/2 2500 QCSB Auto 2WD 5.9L 3.55

Anyone ever run one? Does it work as advertised? As I read you can command it to lock and stay locked from drive to OD (2nd if you have a modded valve body). Kind've tired of the factory pcm tranny control and fighting with lockup issues. Thoughts?

Good Evening, I am wondering if anyone can tell me how they like the ATS copilot on there truck and how you basically use it towing? ATS website doesn't really go in depth about it. The 3500 in question I am thinking of adding the copilot to has a recently built Suncoast transmission with billet input, flexplate and Dynamic transmissions hauling valve body. Trying to see if it is actually worth getting and trying it for my company for towing purposes. I also ran into some posts on Firepunk Anteater. Does anyone have any input or have one that can share some input on it? Thanks for your time, Steve

All, A while back it was requested that when I get my trans redone, I let everybody know how it runs... Since ATS is such a strongly debated company in particular. I went with the Stage 2 trans, and 1400 - 1500 RPM stall 5 star converter. I've had this a couple days, so all I have is reviews on basic customer service and how it drives. First off, it drives great. The low stall is a bit of a compromise, as I could probably be a bit higher, 1800 - 2000 RPM and I would be a bit faster and have a bit faster spool. However, I like the fact that I can grunt around town without having to rev. The kickdown is goodand seems to mesh well with my engines pow…

So, I'm not getting into specifics, but I goofed. I was backing into a shop parking lot and from the first angle, there was no way I could have seen it... I backed into a freakin light pole...:whistle: Now, this would not have been much of an issue, but I was backing into a parking spot off my passanger side mirror completely hiding the pole coming up on my driver side as I was turning into a spot... At the moment the pole was visible in my driver side, I was already into it. I caught the far corner of my bumper which pushed in and turned the fender under, cracked the tail light and really pissed me off. So, if you were going to buy a - Driver side back fender- N…

I'm not to sure where to place this post as it deals with a company which many of us have dealt with in the past. I've attached my Google review of Auto Computer Specialist (ACS) below as I feel our community needs to know about how terrible the customer service is with these people. I'm not sure if there was a recent change in ownership or management but it has been beyond childish. To the point they are claiming via google reviews I was never a customer and must be mistaken. See attached photos, I have also posted in my original review. All I wanted to do was speak with the owners about the professionalism of Dominic who is the front desk person at ACS. If …

The truck I'm working on has the Cumins 5.9 24 valve engine. My question is about the Diagnostic Trouble Codes. I'm scanning with the AutoEnginuity, PC based scan tool, with the enhanced Chrylser / Dodge software. I've attached the DTC Report. THIS ENGING HAS HAD THE VP44 PUMP REPLACED WITH A P7100 PUMP. I know some codes are a result of that swap. Each of the DTC "P" codes includes a description, Status, Good Trip counts, and Starts Since Failed. Each corresponds to a code that can be found in the FSM (factory service manual) as well as many other documents. The "Freeze Frame" information is confusing. For example, on the report I 've attached, the 3 Freez…

SO it seems to be one thing after another with this truck. First the batteries kept going dead due to a grid heater solenoid sticking open, then my fuel pump went, now my trans wont shift out of neutral. All in about a 3 week span.I just finished installing my new AirDog II, bled the system and fired the truck up. Went to put it in reverse, heard the engine load down like it normally does but nothing happen. Went back to park and heard a slight grinding. Put it in drive, same thing, I hear the load but no movement. Put it back in park and a lot of grinding, had to move back to reverse then park top make it stop. Turned the truck off, I can roll the truck in any gear, Pa…

Hello folks. My typical 2nd gen doge tranny is nearing it's end. I'm thinking about doing an Auto to Manual swap to hopefully save on money. (Built tranny's are quite expensive) Currently, the truck sits around 500 horsepower, but will probably go up as I add a twin turbo kit and injectors in the future. Can someone share a parts list of the things I would need for the conversion from auto to manual, including the cost of the parts (Except transmission)? Also, would the ECM need to be swapped or reprogrammed? I need to know everything that has to be done for the swap before I decide to begin the project. If any of you believe I should stick to the Auto, what co…

My trucks has been shifting funny, last night I thought it was going in and out of OD to drive. Today it seemed ok when i was just driving it normally around normally, but i was messing with shifting it on a flat streach of road and if I turn off the OD i can tell it goes into drive, but if i manually put it into 2nd itll rev for a second and then its like being in neutral, but if i manually put it into first I can tell it drops into first and revs. And its the same starting from a stop. If i put the truck manually into first and pull out i can tell its in first, then if i shift to second its like hitting neutral, and then when i manually put it into drive you can tell it…

Hey guysThinking of doing a band adjustment - recommended by a smart man/friend on another site.Don't know much about it - seems not too hard - just be careful with torque.Anyone with extra input here ? Personal experience ??I seem to be slipping a little in my transmission - so was going to try this first , get a diagnostic from an auto shop in STL 2nd , then some trans additive (seafoam transtune) 3rd and if all else fails looks like I am up for a new trans :cry:Any advice hugely appreciated.ISX - might even ping you one day and if I can get to you see if you can give me you 2 cents worth after you take her for a drive - even throw in a beer or a pitcher of ice cool le…

I know the 3 cyl mode helps warm the engine quicker due to the load put on the engine, so...If I put the truck in gear and keep my foot on the brake am I doing any harm to the trans if I let it idle like that for 5-10 minutes? What about if I do the same thing but bump the idle to 1200 rpm or so? Is that hard on the tranny or any of the parts?Sorry if it's a dump question. I only know the basics when it comes to how auto transmissions work.Thank you!
