What's the best way to clean the puke bottle overflow out of the radiator? I have a power washer, but not a steam cleaner. I realize it needs to be taken off the vehicle for access.

  2. After removing the stock air box and K&N filter:nono: and installing the BHAF, I decided to take a look at the turbo. It does not look damaged but it is filthy. At the risk of sounding stupid, what would be the best thing to clean it with? Or would it be best to just leave it alone? Remember I am new to the diesel world! Just don't want to make any costly mistakes or slack on maintenance.

  3. Compressor housing is pretty grimy, but I thought the blades looked ok (except for my finger prints!). Notice that the intake hose is quite clean as well as the lid to the filter box (I've never cleaned those). Here's my question: Can I carefully wipe of the filter housing and quit there? Or, do I need to clean more of the turbo unit? Why is it that the intake hose and filter box is clean and the compressor housing is not? Thanks,Eric

So its been happening more often now. I've counted a few times this week now. Hot or cold it happens. Is it the starter contacts or something worse? If its the contacts where do I get them? I've got a cummins parts dealer a block away!

I noticed a A LOUD clicking in the Drivers side front wheel at the first stop light in town. It continued to do this for about 3/4 of the way and then it quit. anything to worry about?? P/S did not have a torque wrench big enough to set torque on wheel nut, just torqued w/ 3/4 ratchet and pipe

Anyone know what would cuase an intermittent click under the dash? It don't happen very often but it drives me nuts when it does it. It's kind of a high low high low click. Also when I left for work this morning it sounded like my fan was running? What would cuase it to run when temp is 45 outside and coolant temp is under 140 degrees?

edit: added video in reply Hey gents, glad to see the site is back! I needed it during that time hahaha. I just replaced my head and put in some 110# springs, ARP 425’s etc. I have this tapping noise that is usually most prevalent when coming down into idle range whether in gear or free revving in neutral. I have a feeling it’s a bad exhaust leak but it’s driving me nuts since occasionally it’s not there and then will be there when I park. I adjusted valves after the head job and did mess up there the first time.. lost #6 intake bridge due to I believe the nut being too loose (oops, live and learn!). Replaced that push rod, and used moparm…

Hey Fellas, Can I swap clusters without any issue with the odometer? I don't care what the odometer says but want to make sure the it won't throw a code.

  11. Will get started on removing the drivelines today. Mopar I was looking at the manufacturers links on your web site and found Standard Transmission and Gear listed. Have you or anybody else here ever done business with them? Found a place out of Memphis called High Gear Transmission also. High Gear had this info THIS IS A STANDARD SHIFT TRANSMISSION, NV5600 6 SPEED, FOR THE DODGE 3500 SERIES DIESEL TRUCKS.WE HAVE THESE IN 2X4 AND 4X4. THESE UNITS ARE REBUILT, UPDATED AND DYNO TESTED. (MY DYNO TESTER COST $80,000. BEFORE YOU BUY A TRANSMISSION FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, ASK IF THEY HAVE MADE THAT KIND OF INVESTMENT IN THEIR PRODUCTS.) ALL THIS MEANS THEY WILL WORK WELL FOR YO…

I installed a Valair 400 horse organic clutch four weeeks ago. Love the clutch, but one thing is it still will not engage smoothly. I never had to start out in first with the stocker. But now if i dont the engagement is rough. Maybe i just dont know how to use it. I dont know but ive tried everything . Different ammounts of throttle etc. once i get it rolling it goes ok. But starting in second is rough and reverse is worse. How much longer to break it in? Sometimes i swear something is going to tear out of it.

So i have a valair 550hp clutch in my nv4500 and i just did a burn out 1st through 4th cus it was wet out in my dually and i thought it was spinning in 4th but after i smelt a heavy smell of my clutch. This clutch only has like 15k miles max on it. Is this something i should be worried about. I only held it for like 3 or 4 seconds in Fourth befor i let off i just hope i didnt rewin it

  14. Started by joecool911,

How important is it to spend $1,200 on a clutch? I am looking at a auto to nv4500 conversion and am wondering for a mainly stock rig how important it is to go with a big a$$ clutch. Can I just get one from napa? Every time I turn around you guys want me to spend a thousand dollars. Lol.

  16. Noticed today that when the clutch is engaged (foot off the clutch, "in gear") in any gear or neutral, there's a screeching/screaming noise coming from the transmission I can only assume. Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and throw out will be 2 this September/October and if it's the throw out bearing this will be my 2nd one that started by screeching before taking my clutch out. What could it be and if it's the throw out bearing is it too late to save my $1000 clutch or would it be something simple like a slave cylinder? I so think I need a new one since engages and disengages are a little rough...

  17. Started by GreenRiverCummins,

Well after 190k mile's nearly 170k with a fifthwheel behind it my stock clutch died last monday. After i vacumed the inside, cleaned with wipe's, washed the truck, hand dried it, waxed it, and went for a sunday drive down by the river got to the bridge before the turn gearded down to 3rd and hit the clutch to downshift to second pedal went to the floor.... had to ride 3rd gear for about a mile till i could safely pull over. After a few not PG-13 word's and praying i called for some help home. I was gonna haul it but, my angry was alittle high had to start the truck in gear and just speed shifted it home (Not a good idea but i was that mad) lol So i contacted thoroughbred …

  18. 2001 Ram 2500 quad 4x2, 24 valve turbo 5 speed.Suddenly clutch started going soft (doesn't engage fully, hard to shift into gear) if depressed for prolong period or if engaged several times in a row. Strangely it recovers and works fine within a few minutes. I am guessing slave/master cylinder issue - but why does it recover and work fine? Air in the line? It drives just fine otherwise and clutch and gears work great as long as I lay off the clutch as much as possible (coast to stops put in neutral, etc.). Maybe this is common but, anytime I had clutch problems in past with cars it was a slow permanent process - no recovery. Ideas out there? Hate to crack open housing an…

so it was sooner or later that my master cylinder for the clutch would start to leak from having a stronger pressure plate installed with the valair clutch. i didnt have the funds to swap it out but now i have to and will get parts from somewhere soon. anyone have any suggestions?

  20. Here you go gang I did a full YouTube video of how I changed out the master and slave cylinder and bled the system out and installed. I'll get this moved over to the article database and updated as well.
