So I’m running through the pros and cons of tapping my VP. My main thinking is it’d be fun to have until I can throw bigger injectors in the truck and use the quad to tune accordingly. My main concerns are I’m not entirely sure of the mileage on the VP. I think it’s at around 70ish and even though the PO kept good care of the truck, he didn’t have records of it and I had to call the dealership to confirm and they were a little unsure of the date as it’d been a while and they’re system had crashed at some point making certain things not show. Either way, PO didn’t use two stroke, ran a hyper tech tuner and had an intake lift pump so I’m sure it ra…

I am experiencing what i think is the TC going in and out of lock up. This occurs randomly and anywhere from 40 at initial shift into OD and cruising at 70+ on the interstate in cruise control. The tach jumps approximately 250 for anywhere from 1 second to 20 seconds with no increase in speed. I have taken the truck to a friend (master mechanic) and he said it could be due to brake switch position. he adjusted the switch with no favorable result. He said that the position of the switch in relation to the steering column does not allow for adequate movement to remove the gap between switch and pedal. The next step that he recommended was a new switch that could be modified…

So i've been contemplating doing the switch mod for locking my TC. but i have one unanswered question. with the switch in the off position wiill the TC lock on it's on normally? then if i want to lock it then i cna flip the switch? right not mine works great. but there are times when i'd like some engine braking and other geek reasons to be able to manually lock and unlock it. Thank all.

Anybody ever do their own tc lock up switch? Tst products has a write up t install one for the cost of a toggle switch and a little wire. They tell you to splice into the orange and brown wire coming out of the middle plug at the ecm, run a wire to a toggle switch and then come out of the other leg to ground. Then they tell you to pull the trans relay and jump 2 specific terminals to give the tc lock selonoid constant power. The problem im having is when i jump these 2 terminals the selonoid (im assuming) starts to click rapidly in the trans. This does not seem right and i unplugged it as soon as i located the source of the noise. Anybody have this issue?according to the…

Getting ready to get a 30' bumper pull and ProPride hitch to tow with the rig in my signature. The PacBrake electronics tie into the lock up wire at the ECM to activate the exh brake when the unit is turned on and foot comes off the accelerator. If I wanted to add a TC lock up switch so that I can lock up in 2nd gear on up (Dynamic VB modded to allow that) for towing slow up steep inclines, can I do this without inhibiting the use of the exh brake? I'm assuming that I'd leave the PacBrake switch "off" and use the lock up switch as needed climbing hills. Then when going downhill, turn the TC lock switch "off" and turn on the PacBrake. Anyone have any wiring info on this? S…

Hi I have a strange problem that I have noticed since installing my quadzilla. Since installing my quad I have noticed my TC lock up is lazy and doesn't lock up really unless I'm climbing a grade and pushing the pedal a bit harder. Or I'm wide open in OD it will lock up.. Turn the quad off I get 'normal' lock up in 3rd and OD. Anyone else come into this issue before? Best way to over come? Mystery switches are they worth it? I don't tow I just use this truck for fun it gets used a couple of times a week. I have a bullet input, triple disc modified OD with more clutches etc (firepunk comp 2 rebuild kit without the billet int…

I've been wondering if it would be possible to rig up something to lock up my tc whenever I want. If possible are there dangers in doing this?

Good Morning all, well it seems like every 6 months or so this issue returns, i just slayed that dragon last night and its really getting old. my battery clamps are not going to take much more of this before needing to replace them so here is the low down on the recent findings, the Ground on the primary battery has the acid build up, the other three did not. the problem was only presenting itself at speed between 40 and 50 (in the past, this would happen at any speed above 40mph in OD) i have a switch that i can use to kill my alternator (story for another time) so i killed it thinking it could be related to the alternator and the heat we been having. nope is…

I put in a tc lockup switch last night and followed directions from TST. However, after it was all done I tried it out and of course didn't work. My truck is a 99 model. I checked the switch and all the wiring and it seems to be okay. Anyone know what I did wrong or what I can do to fix it?

So I installed a tc lockup switch last night, and I'm not sure where I went wrong. I followed the tst website link but it doesn't seem to work. My truck junction box looks a little different than the one in his schematic but I'm pretty sure I did it right. Here is what the truck is doing. First, with overdrive off, I'll get the truck to second gear, and flip the switch on, and nothing different happens. It'll shift up to next gear as I increase speed. Then I can come to a full stop and the truck doesn't want to stall or anything. Or I can be cruising at 35, and punch it and he truck will downshift. The only thing that seems to be different is if switch is off, …

So, after 278,800 miles, my virgin 100% stock automatic has had its first hiccup. A couple days ago when I came to a stop it kept wanting to lurch forward, dragging the engine down. It doesn't kill it but it is lugging. I did some Googling but am not finding anything with the exact symptoms I'm having. I think it's the TC solenoid so I ordered one and will try replacing it. During normal driving the trans essentially operates normally, when the TC locks at its usual time the engine RPM drops, and it unlocks and relocks as I let off and back on the throttle. Basically, everything works normally but it acts like the torque converter suddenly went from 80-wha…

For a while now, I have been debating if I should put a TC switch in. I know of the benefits I could get from it, but what about the negative?I want to do the switch because I want to maximize the fuel milage by reducing the fluid coupling of the automatic, and reducing heat.Anyone done it and what to do and not to do with it? At that rpm do you shut it off at? Also, could this be a good way to substitute for being able to use an exhaust brake?

As title states, my tcase went crunch on the way to North Dakota for my new job. I'm assuming the way it locked up the innards are toast. I had to disconnect both drive shafts to move it. As of now, the truck is going to be put into hibernation until I figure out what's going to happen next. That depends on whether or not I can get a decent case for cheap enough. I've also considered adapting it to run an np205, and hopefully not have to worry again. But I really don't want to have to get new yokes and drivelines. What do you all suggest? Who could rebuild it for a reasonable amount? Who sells gears and stuff besides all state? The truck has 4.11s…

Having a drivability problem (98.5/24V/4sd auto/4x4/4.10 gear) I’m losing about 200 rpms at speed. Feels like its losing torque converter lock up at about 70 mph. Lock up is obvious and strong at 45 mph but at 70 the rpms will fluctuate between 2100 and 2400 with no change in speed. Changed out the tcc solenoid/over drive solenoid, governor solenoid and governor pressure sensor no change. Installed manual tcc switch, sitting still, truck in drive flipped the switch and killed the engine but no change in lock up at speed. Some lose in fuel economy, about 1mpg. Took it to a transmission shop they said they couldn’t find anything wrong, computer commands lock up at the right…

Back in July I lost ECM output for my lift pump. I tested for AC noise at that time and had no issue so I corrected and added a fused power source and now it runs off a switch. BTW alternator is believed to have the same milage as the chassis which is 332,732 Two weeks ago to transmission started having issues with torque converter clutch lock up it was hunting a lot. I threw a scanner on it and started collecting live data. I find out my accelerator pedal position sensor will not register over 80% at wide open throttle. At this point I was very confused so I started testing more things including A/C noise again and the alternator is still fine my batteries…

Rookie post even though we've own this thing since 2005. Often herd there are no dumb questions, well here is one Our Trailer and stuff in bed of pick up is about 12,000 pds loaded. 2001 truck is stock with 47re with a 4:10 rear end. When going up long mountain grades, I make it point to not go over 1150-1200 on my pyro. On long upgrades I usually end up falling in line with the big trucks and just chug up to the top about the same speed. But not unusual to be passed by other people pulling about the same weight, sometimes like I'm standing still. I understand newer equipment has bigger horsepower. I don't care if I'm not the first one to the top of hill or not.…
