Well guys,Was not a good week last week in Phoenix. We had a massive hail storm here, dropping hail up to tennis ball sized. Truck was where it always is, out in the drive. My garage is too small for the truck. The entire truck is now peppered with small to medium sized dents. Glass made it fine but all the rest of the sheet metal, especially on the left hand side is peppered. House as well, with almost $5000 in damage there. They are now offering me to total it out and take the truck and give me $11.5k cash. Other option is to total the truck and put a "salvage title" on it with me keeping the truck and giving me about $7.5k in hand. First off I like the truck and really …

http://dodgeram.info/2001/towing-charts.html This chart is saying max payload for my 01 long bed 2500 is right around 3,000lbs. I don't have time to drive an hour to steal my buddies dump trailer and was just going to put 2 tons of stone in the back of my truck. I'm debating just putting 1 ton in the back to be safe, since having my rear end rebuilt not too long ago. Any input? When I first got the truck I had 2 tons of stone dust in the back no issues, but that was pre rebuild. Gravel pit is less than 10 miles from my house.

I'll start my own thread. I finally ditched my old Kenwood Stereo MP3 player. I got to the point I gave up on cutting MP3 discs and audio CD's. I start just using the cellphone. Bit just an awful lot of plugging and unplugging the cellphone just for music. I was hunting around and there is a lot of double DIN stereos out there. Then there is lot of single DIN with flip up screens. I couldn't find any of the flip down screens. I focus back to a single DIN stereo with bluetooth. I stumbled across CACA In Dash Stereo on Amazon for a whole $38 bucks. I was kind of skeptical because of it cheap China made stereo. I'll admit the there are no instructions for this stereo. Basic …

What do you recommend for LED's and headlight housings? Is there a light/housing combo that you would recommend? I need something that is very bright both short distance and long distance as I do a lot of traveling during the night hours.. Also, they need to perform great during snowy and rainy conditions. Links to products would be preferred. And no, I'm not a fan of light bars. Let's hear those setups/recommendations! (Please include any necessary wiring harnesses for setups)

I have seen the question asked a million times on other forums. It usually comes down to someone claiming to be an awesome mechanic stating that hydroboost brake boosters aren't rebuild-able/resealable or that they are so complicated if you took them apart you would never get them back together. :banghead: Well even though my hydroboost has been doing a great job keeping my undercarriage lubricated the constant top offs with power steering fluid and air in the system got pretty annoying. I decided that I would take a peek inside of it and possibly reseal it. I didn't plan to rebuild the unit as there are a couple specialized tools you either have to purchase or i…

Injector cleaners have been the long debate of the decade and I'd like to shed some more light on it. Injector cleaners have a number of things they have to do while also doing others. For instance, something made to tackle carbon means it could possibly and probably tackle the rubber of the fuel lines, gaskets, etc. This means injector cleaner additives are extremely weak and must be used long term for them to do anything. One test I did was putting an injector that I hadn't cleaned into a cup with injector cleaner additive in it. I waited 24 hours, pulled it out, and nothing had changed. I had dumped the injector cleaner straight into the cup so it was 100% co…

I know this is kind of silly, but Im looking for the rubber plug that goes into the rear bumper where the tow ball goes through (the Center of the 3 holes). its a 1" hole that is pretty much straight down so a normal plug will not fit. The part that goes down into the hole has to be kind of long to wedge into the hole. I have probably spent entirely too much time searching through amazon, McMaster, Grainger, etc. trying to find a Plug/Grommet/etc, to go into this hole. Its just ugly w/o it....... LOL. Any suggestions on where I can find this? thanks Bob

Went in to the tire store today with a slow leaking tire. Turns out to be a cracked rim. I bought a used set of oe rims a while back so I have some spares, but with 3 rims with cracks I dont think what I have is going to last much longer. So I have done alot of looking this evening and while there are a lot of wheels out there I find very few that have the same off set and backspace as the OE. From my research and doing some measuring of the OE rims it would appear I need a 43mm off set and 6.2" back space. Not sure why you need the 2 measurements. It would seem to me the they are 2 different ways to measure the same thing. Almost everything I saw had a 0mm off set. Not s…

YEEEAAA!I seriously think doing a spray bedliner on the whole exterior of the truck is the way to go for N idaho! Anyone ever though of doing it or have done it and what did you think or do you think of it?To me its a no brainer. No more scratches, more dent resistant, dont have to worry about rust, probably easy to clean. I would think the advantages outweigh the dis.

Just acquired a nice bone stock 98 12v and having issues with the fuel gauge. Drove it 1700 miles home so ran a few tankfuls of fuel through it. Seems to be sending unit related as it does fine till 7/8 tank then dances for a while then holds steady from 3/4 through 3/8 tank then dances again. Can’t find the sending unit in stock anywhere. Are there any options? Retrofit another sending unit or fitment of a fuel tank from an early 24v? thanks vin 3B7KF22D1WG106674

Over the past couple weeks when I start up during a cold morning I'd happen to get the occasional P1291 code for the lack of intake heat. I'd clear the code and then it wouldn't happen again for a few days or so, depending on how many times I drove the truck. Strange part is when it would throw the code, I'd immediately shut down, check with a reader, clear the code, and start up again. All would be fine. I thought maybe I have a bad or sticky relay that just happened free up, so I checked around to see who has them. Thankfully they're readily available but they're not cheap either. Before I went and spent the money I thought I'd do a full diagnostic just to be …

I would like to make a shout out to the member that sent me the front sensor back in the spring of the year. Long over due but now I got the time to replace my well wore out and damaged ABS sensors. So here we go I'm going to do both side. Total time to replace is 30 minutes for both. Start out by jacking up the front axle and jack standing the axle for safety. Now remove the tire using the proper socket and impact gun. Mine being aftermarket wheels is a 3/4" socket. After the wheel is removed grab a large flat blade screwdriver and pry both caliper piston back a little. Now using a 5/8" 12 point socket remove the two bolts holding the caliper frame. Now lif…

Ever since you mentioned the lower pressures you run in the front axles I decided to tweak with mine a bit and adjust a few things like sector adjustment on the steering gear box now. This is the best the truck has ran from steering now. It very stable and tracks well now with no sawing action now. So I wanted to say "Thank You" to Wild & Free because my truck is very enjoyable to drive now and doesn’t require all those crazy mods like steering box brace or 3rd gen track bar. All factory front end parts!

I'm missing my front wheel cover for my 1999 3500 dually and can't seem to find one anywhere on the web. Sites are full of after market, one piece wheel cover and lug center cap, but no OEM replacement. One local stealership wants $500 and another $380! Anybody got any suggestions?
