  1. Taking my stock exhaust off, got it undone where the downpipe hooked to the resinator, how the **** to I get the downpipe out from underneath? I tried taking it up through past the otor, tried all different ways but can't figure it out. I stumped!

It appears to be leaking from where the shaft (not pitnam arm) connects to gearbox. Since the truck has a lot of wandering, I figured I'd just replace the whole thing. Although I've found many reasonably price remanufactured ones, I've read that remanufactured boxes don't last long and some leak almost immediately. Any recommendations? This truck doesn't get driven much (4K in the last year and a half).

How do I replace the driver's door ajar switch? That is; what tools are required to remove/replace it, maybe an instruction sheet, the part number, and recommendations on where to buy it.The shaft has a crack in it and the plunger cannot be placed back into the shaft.Thank you,Gary

Well gang... I got a write now for the CCD netwrok and how it operates. So for those of you that have the CCD error on your overhead console and weird problems with the ABS/Brake lights and maybe the gauge cluster I would day its a CCD network problem... So go here and read up... http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/general/ccd/ccd.htm

  5. My power steering pump looses fluid. The front of it is always wet with fluid, and it leaves spots under the truck.Any advise on fixing it?Such as: any special tools, level of difficulty, is there a seal kit? etc. Thanks for any help.John

Okay so yesterday the fuel gauge was showing a little under half which was correct. I parked the truck for maybe 2 hours and got back in it to drive and fuel now shows it is on Empty and the fuel light is on. Went and put some fuel in it and it didn't change... So I guess the fuel sender is probably out?? Can you buy that seperate from the canister or does it come together? A from a dealer I suppose?

Hey all Just used a 3M lens restoration kit for by rear cabin light as well as my front two headlights. Normal yellow fade etc from sun and time. The results were amazing - I would say honestly a 90+% improvement. Takes 3 or 4 takes of using various grit sandpaper followed by rubbing compound at end - but really effective. Will post picks in the morning. http://www.amazon.com/3M-Headlight-Lens-Restoration-System/dp/B001AIZ5HY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1283740197&sr=8-1 Good stuff !!

Well guys I'm needing a bit of advice. Looking to knock the drone out of the cab of my truck while keeping the sound from the tailpipe. So which FTE resonator should I use 17 inch or 30 inch? I have a MagnaFlow SS 4 inch flow through muffler I just want to knock the drone out.

So guys I have a question for all of you who had 265/75R16 tires from the factory that have upsized to 285/75R16 or 285/70R17. Who here knows or remembers how much the speedometer was off? How much was it off by?

i got my ac working again the other day but the controls are stuck in the defrost mode. I know the controls need vacuum to operate and all my other accessories work, 4wd and the exhaust brake. I have vacuum where the line goes thru the firewall at the evaporator. A good while back when I replaced the evaporator I noticed the hard line going thru the fire wall had cracked and I replaced a section with vacuum hose and have vacuum to that point. I figure while installing the new drier or high pressure line I most likely fractured the hard line going thru the fire wall. Does this hard line go straight to the multi point connector for the controls? I could not quite contort m…

I started filling my trucks up at the coop, no particular reason. Anyway I always hand calculate my full mileage each fill up so I filled up and wow 17mpg in my 05 It has never goten better than 16. So I was observing the pumps and in fine print and it said 5% bio deisel.Three days later I full up my 01 and she got 16:thumb1: and she weighs 11k loaded with all my junk. This is with two stroke in the tank. Work truck normally gets 14.5 to 15.75. I like this bio stuff, we have never had it around our little town. Pay a little more but hey more mileage.

  13. So, you ever do something and think nothing of it, and then it goes bad and then you sit back and reflect and realize that you know better, or should've known better . Loading my tractor on the trailer yesterday and was pointed ona bit of a downhill grade...there was the mistake...and had the E brake on and in gear, but soon as I got the weight of the tractor up on the back of the trailer I think you all know what happened I went on a little unwanted drive with the truck, trailer and tractor for about 50 ft and then the trailer pushed the truck into a jackknife until I came up against a telephone pole i have in my yard. Blew my tire off the rim,. ruined my new back bumpe…

Just took about 30 minutes and installed my new driver's seat cushion from Geno's and I wish I had spent the money 50k miles ago. It is SUCH a drastic improvement. No more smashing my tailbone on the rear crossbar with every bump!

Ok here is the problem i have. The last owner of my truck installed or built, which i am not sure, a gooseneck hitch. IMO this thing is somewhat overbuilt but hey it works. When doing so he welded it to the frame, and to the bed sheet metal. So in other words the bed is not removable. I have flirted with the idea of removing the hitch all together but that is somewhat difficult at the moment with no access to air tools. Besides the hitch seems to have been used a lot and doesn't look like it ready to quit so why replace it with a something else that would require repairing or replacing the bed. Any way as i said earlier i have no access to air tools. I do have a f…

I'd like to know what my trailer actually weighs. I found a scale and took weighs. Drove onto the scale. Here are the numbers. (Trailer is a 5er) Truck: Front Axle- 4400 F/R Axles- 9400 Rear Axle- 5250 Trailer: Both Axles at the same time- 7700 I don't know what my truck weighs unloaded, but it's a 98.5 qcsb, auto, Dana 60/70, 4x4 stock bumpers, 265/70/17 tires on 03 steel wheels.

  17. A while back I had my rear drivers side axle out to replace the wheel seal that was leaking and I noticed my backing plate was getting pretty ripe. Kind of said to myself, wonder when i'll have to replace that ? Found out tonight that it's now! Noticed the emergency brake was going alot further today and wasn't releasing well so I jacked it up tonight to adjust it, but noticed the star wheel for adjusting the shoes was sloppy. Thought I should take the rotor off and look ,and bam, backing plate was rotted off and the one side of the brake shoes let go. Looks like I know what I'll be doing in a couple days when my parts come :banghead:

I am ready to upgrade the front disk brakes on my truck now that I have the 17" rims/tires on it. What recommendations do you have for new disks/pads? My budget will only allow a total of $300 for rotors, brackets and pads, so please keep this in mind. Fancy rotors may be nice to have, but the budget is my limitation.

Came off the HVAC or maybe the ECM or who knows while taking the dash off. I thought it was something obvious and easy to remember but I can't remember or find a place for it to go for the life of me. Any ideas?

  20. I know I have read this before but here goes anyway. My old motor ran around 40 plus on the oil pressure, new motor runs on the edge of the next mark up. A big diff. from before, and I know it could be the sending unit which I can swap out sence I have a new one on my old motor. What would the next mark up be? And where does your gauge run?
