There are times when I drive some pretty long legs, like 1000 miles a day or so. Some of this is in wonderful legs like El Paso to Dallas there there is absolutely nothing out there, (and an awful lot of it! ) and no radio stations.Anyone on the list ever used XM Satellite Radio in the truck? I can always use the stock Dodge radio by plugging a "cassette adapter" in it but the quality is not the best. Would like to find someway to use the direct cable style of connection. So far have found very few options other than yanking the entire radio system out and replacing it and really hate to do this unless I have to. Hope someone has some ideas or experience in this area.Thx,…

Doing the big brake swap and shocks tomorrow after work. Still gotta pick up the GM wheel cylinders (and Speedbleeders to fit; I already have them up front) and some cheap fluid to flush the lines before I put in some Amsoil.

I removed my wifes suspension lift off her 2001 2500 quad cab. We went to the junkyard and they sold us control arms off of a 1999. Their fitment/buyers guide stated they would interchange. However the bushings are NOT the same ID as the cam ecentric bolts the truck came with. All of the bolts are different from the 1999 to the 2001.Replacement bushings state that they fit 1996-2002 1500-3500Doing more research I found a listing for the right bolts and not the bushings.Raybestos/Moog both show the bushings fitting but another site clearly listed a seperate listing.1996-1999 uppers and lowers had smaller bolts/bushings and 2000-2002 had bigger bushings and bolts.Does ANY on…

I am experiencing the same problem , but I notice my brakes "slapping" my foot every now and then when I first go to apply them, Do I have the same problem, a gear box? Or do you think it's the pump? Thanks in advance.

I get this intermittent low-pitched growl from my new brake pads. Turning a corner seems to start the noise. Like I said, it's intermittent and may not show up for a week or more. While it's occurring, if I step on the brake pedal the noise stops but returns as soon as I lift my foot. All I can think is that the pads are dragging somehow. I've removed the wheels to look at the rotors, pads etc and all seems normal. When I did my brake job, all I did was replace the pads. I did nothing to the calipers or pistons.Should I have removed the pistons and cleaned them or anything else? This noise doesn't seem to affect drivability or stopping, but it sounds so horrendous I figure it…

When I turn my heat on it is just semi warm. I have searched the forum and checked everything. The Ac compressor kicks on and off correctly when the selector is turned. The air comes out of the appropriate vents when selected. The blend door works ( watched mopar video ) when the temp selector is turned. The big flapdoor over on the passenger side moves when the max AC is selected. The radiator was replaced and flushed 10,000 miles ago. New thermostat also. Temp gauge heats up to 190 and stays there no matter what I am doing. Both heater hoses going in from the engine side are the same temp and they are hot . I pulled the glove box and can see and feel the heater core and…

So Friday night, we attempted to replace my ball joints. All week, I've been soaking the hub assembly and associated hardware with rust penetrate.Bottom line:Broke $1400 in Snap-On and Matco tools, and NEVER got the axle nut off, nor did we get the hub out. Afterward, we tried using the hub press tool thingy from Snap-On, where you use the hub bolts (backed out some) and use the power steering to press the hub out.. Yeah... DESTROYED the right-inner TRE; turned it into a horseshoe.. it's as if the spindle and hub are now one-piece, thanks to rust...So, I had to replace that. Never did get the hub out. I suppose next weekend, I'll just cut the ball joints , slid…

So I ordered a steering box brace from Spohn Performance. It arrived a couple days later, and I will say, seems to be a pretty class A piece.Well, it won't fit. sorta. It's the right part, and is made properly. HOWEVER, I also run a plow in the winter. The truck-side bracketry (spreader bar, torque arms, etc.) are all kinds of interfering with the installation of the new bracket... I'll investigate more this evening, and see if I can slightly 'mod' something to gain the clearance I need..Otherwise, the new steering brace will be up for sale...

Here we go again :spend: I did this http://dodgeram.org/tech/repair/elect/inst_panel_check.htm and nothing came up the oil pressure and check gauge lights keeps coming on and off all day and the fuel gauge keeps going up and down as well as the fuel light And its related to how smooth I drive ? it seems like its somewhat related to hitting potholes etc on the road unless I am just going nuts

I am preparing to install an Air Dog 100 in my truck in the morning and have to install the Draw Straw 5 in the tank as my truck had the in-tank pump installed. I spoke with Eric at Vulcan earlier today about this install, he told me to be sure to drill a hole in the side of the plastic cup at the bottom of the module, about 2"-3" up from the bottom. For the life of me I can't remember what size hole to drill. I have read the directions from Vulcan that came with the Draw Straw 5 and it doesn't mention this hole at all. In the instructions, one of the pictures shows a hole in this approximate location with an arrow pointing to it, but no explaination at all of what to…

My hood insulation is sagging badly especially in the area where my BHAF is going to be. Anyone got any ideas on how best to re-attach it? I was thinking maybe some type of glue, however, the heat might cause glue to melt. Any info will be appreciated.MOHOK

I broke it free and exercised it by hand; reassembled and I now have heat control again without spending $135!!!! Sorry; I neglected to take pictures

Hi CTD drivers,I was rotating my tires last week & noticed my front brake pads are beyond the 1/2 way point. I'm usually pulling something & she likes to work, at the moment a small 2 horse trailer & a slide in trk camper. My rotors are still good, factory style, look to me like they were updated w/ the last set of pads. I stop fine w/ what I have. I was driving w a 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer w 2 ATV's inside had to panic stop in the hills of WV, went around a blind curve downhill & my wife & I were both surprised how well it stopped. My reply was that's why I wanted a 3500 dually.I have no idea what's on there, so what are you guys using? Thanks,…
