2nd Generation Dodge Non-Powertrain

UPS truck arrives daily. Wifee asked if I bought out the internet? Well, a few of them were Christmas presents (outgoing). The rest were for my CTD. She knows I bought some stuff for the truck. I'm taking advantage of all those Christmas Specials & free shipping... I should go put a big bow on it. Latest was used AirDog system... looks like big line kit & fittings. I'll explore the box after the holiday (if I can contain myself).

My '96 SCLB held ~34gal of fuel. My '01 QCSB, on a totally empty tank, only held ~25-26gal.I've read so many conflicting bits of info on tank sizes for the RAMs, that I'm not sure which to believe? Do any of you have any hard numbers that a man can take belief in?I've read all have 34gal tanks, 8' beds have 34gal, 6.5' beds have 26, 6.5' beds have 34, 8' beds have 44 (wtf? ) and so on.What do you guys have?

  3. I mean, they're everywhere (ebay, amazon, etc.) but 99.999% of the ones out there, like Recon, are for 03-08 body style. Is the roofline/curvature that different between the two body styles? And anyone know of a template out there for 2gen trucks? Anyone here installed their own cab lights on a non-oem cab light truck?

I think I screwed up. I was replacing brake pads/rotors and thought the brake fluid could use refreshing (old & dark). I sucked out all the old fluid in the reservoir with a turkey baster & refilled it with new fluid. I was alone & don't have a bleeder bomb so this is the process I used. I attached a clear vinyl hose to the rt/front bleeder, ran it uphill about 18" then down into a container with the end submerged in fluid. I opened the bleeder & pumped the brake pedal (engine off) to the floor about 10 times, not closing off the bleeder in between pumps, occasionally checking & replenishing the reservoir. Slow, deliberate strokes to the floor, remov…

Can the dealer tell if you've had a Superchip programmer on the truck if you put it back in stock mode before going to them.

I want to install the BHAF further onto the fender than typical. I like this heat slick heat shield. Furnace duct heat shield: http://www.directcon.net/drkayak/Ram/Heat%20Shield But further onto the fender. But then the OEM flexi intake tube will be too short & angled wrong. I found rubber eblows... but that would require 4 more clamps & 2 metal or plastic tubing pieces. I was wanting a clean install. Rubber elbows in all sizes: http://store.airflo.com/nextpage.html Nice Custom Metal extension elbow: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/143145-bhaf-7.html but is not something I could do myself. http://www.amazon.co…

Since it was 10F this morning and going to be the same or colder tomorrow morning I figured I will get some statistics on how well a winter front works. I want to get mileage and time as to how long it takes to hit 190F. I will do a constant 55mph for these tests and be on the road within a minute of starting. Today was without a winter front going straight into 20-30mph headwinds at 10F. Although synthetic oil seemed to not do anything at 20+F, you will notice that it cranks slower now that the conventional oil I am running starts to get really thick, you can even see how long it takes for it to get oil pressure. So synthetic does have it's place in the colder…

Hey gang,I've got a question. Is there a professional way to seal up the lovely wind noise from the top of the doors? The pins look like they are okay but I've never changed them with 235k on the truck. I've thought about getting some foam weather stripping from the hardware store and sticking that on there, but wanted to see if there was something I'm missing.:shrug:Thanks,Winslow

Ok so my 98.5 has the overhead compass but i was wondering does it display the mileage? i have not been able to achieve that with it yet, if it does what is the combo of buttons to press to get this info? mine only has two buttons on it one on each side of the display. I know that white's truck does have the mileage feature but his truck is an 01 as well.

On my 2002 I made some Plexiglas fronts for the top two openings. Do you think that I should have made them for the bottom ones and covered them also.

  15. Alright Mike, not trying to prove you wrong but I want to figure this out.You say cold IAT drop MPG big time on yours. You say Winter Fuel drops it.So why is it that running winter fuel with no winter front whatsoever at 25F ambient at 70mph, do I get the same 21mpg (actually 21.54mpg) that I get on a 100F day? I get consistent mileage all year, summer or winter fuel, rain snow sleet or hail. I know everyone here seems to have this "it's winter fuel, so it's ok to see 2mpg loss" but why am I not seeing this loss! I am thinking if I could figure this out, I could help you all not get a loss either.

  16. 1999 3500 2WD with 4 wheel ABS Got an ABS warning light (along with a brake warning light). Rear sensor was replaced by previous owner - no fix. Took to dealer to run the diagnostics, results point to a R/H front ABS wheel sensor. Before I order the part (OEM MSRP = $200), I was wondering if there was a method to check the sensor with a meter or something. Is it possible that the sensor is just dirty with brake dust, or do the connectors get corroded? I guess I could compare the ohms resistance reading from the rt front with the value taken from left front. Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe in St Louis --- Update to the previo…

I have a friend that just purchased an 01, the fuel gauge is off by about a quarter of a tank so he ran out of fuel. Ever since his fan switch only works on high. I have not tried to pull any codes off but his 'cel' is not lit. Any ideas where to start? Thanks, Jonathan.

If you are looking for gauges for your Dodge Cummins truck, you need to decide what type that you want. Do you want mechanical or electronic. Both have their good and bad points. You are the one who needs to decide as to what type of gauges that you want. You can ask for opinions as to who likes theirs the best, yet you are the one purchasing the gauge set. The necessary gauges needed for a stock truck are: Fuel Pressure, EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature), Boost, and for Automatic Transmission owners, Trans. Temp. FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE A gauge that goes from 0 – 30 psi will do fine. Is using an electronic gauge, you need either a snubber hose and or a needle…
