Two weeks ago on my way home from work I noticed my heat was on defrost regardless of knob position. I also noticed CC was out as well as 4wd. The next day everything was back to normal. Today the wife and I went to lunch and no vacumn again, after lunch it's working fine. I rebuilt the pump 5-6 years ago and replaced the lines from the pump to along the fire wall last summer due to crumbling connections. What could be causing a random loss of vacumn like this? I already ordered a posi-lok cable system for the axle as I don't want to be caught with my pants down in the snow.

  2. Here it is again haha. I know, I apologize. So, I am in a bit of a predicament. For a while I have known my steering needs to be fixed. I know that my gearbox has massive amounts of slop and I just replaced all my ball joints, tie rods and lastly drag link maybe a month ago. With that being said, I am starting to get whining and groaning from the pump as well as it getting hard to turn to the right. I know that my pump needs to be replaced (fluid is clean as a whistle and was replaced about 2 years ago and since we really havent driven but maybe 5k in it since. Since my power steering pump is on its way out I will replace it and since my steering box has slop and leaks, I…

Hey all, so I'm in need of more fuses for accessories and what not. The previous owner when hooking up the quadzilla used some type of pigtail add a fuse which had a small metal piece that was flat and then the other end went down around the pin on the #9 engine fuse. I'm wanting to do an actual add a fuse but I have 2 accessories already running off ignition hot sources in the fuse box and there isn't room for me to put the add a fuse on #9 for the quad. Geno's garage I believe used to sell a "painless" wiring fuse box for ignition hot sources but I can't seem to find it these days. I want to run the gauge cluster and air dog to the new block so I have room to do the cor…

  4. Follow if you can… I have a Ramsey worm gear winch rated at max 280 amp draw Winch originally came with #4 awg cable Charts say #4 cable good for 100 amps at 9.4 feet I am installing Anderson power pole SB175 quick connectors to be used with the winch and homemade #1 awg jumper cables. (Passenger battery with connector by the grill at the bumper) Chart says #1 cable good to 200 amps SB175 good for 175 continuous amps according to Anderson. Largest size cable compatible with SB175 is 1/0…but charts say 1/0 good for 300 amps at 8 ft…this is well beyond the 175 amp rating. So I’v…

Came outside a few days ago and there was a 1/2 quart of ps fluid on the driveway (truck was idling). Ordered a brand new pump with reservoir from Napa and having a guy install it this week. Did I read something on here one time about a vacuum pump seal having to be replaced along with replacing the PS pump? Also, can’t say I fully I fully understand the hydroboost system, are there any considerations my mechanic should know while he’s doing this job? I’ll be keeping the old pump as a backup and rebuilding with a seal kit, just didn’t have time to fool with it right now so bought a new one. Any tips I can pass along to this old guy would be appreciated. Goal is to get ano…

When I bought my truck about 8 or 9 years ago the rear brakes had been over heated and would shudder when the rear drums got hot. I have replaced the shoes and drums once and had 3 different shops do rear brakes including drums , shoes, Ebrake cables hardware and had them check everything that go with it. The last time was in Oregon ( I live in Wi.) when I was in vacation in Oct. when they overheated on the way there and again they have self adjusted back to the point that they drag and the pedal has moved up to the top of the travel. I have 2 question. 1 Can anyone think what else to check. 2 What components do I have to remove to get rid of the self adjusting and jus…

Anyone have these in your truck? If so do you like them and can you post some pictures? Thanks!

Ok so I ordered gauges for my 2002 3500 from DAP and I didnt specify manual gauges and they sent all electronic boost, fuel, and egt. I am no electronic kinda guy. Should I send them back for manual gauges or are these simple enough to hook up for a guy not so electronic smart. Thanks

Where to buy stock mirrors, I ask this because evidently there are cheap replicas. My new to me truck has some really junk mirrors. They vibrate to beat hell and just seem thin compared to my other 1 ton. Thanks

I live in south central Texas and here it seldom gets below freezing and if it does its not but a day or two. I deleted my old truck and cant remember how I did it. If I remove the positive wires going to solenoids and to grid is that all there is to it?

  11. Yes, they will. I picked up this set of 2021 wheels the other day with new 245/70R17 Firestones. The guy gave me the lug nuts but Dodge changed the threads at some point so I am using my old spiked nuts for now. I didn't realize how tall these lug nuts were until I put them on these wheels. This was a test to see if how well a smaller tire will work like Mike has. So far my cruising EGT's are down about 150-200 degrees. I'll have to do some more driving later to verify. I was able to pull flat out run on level 4 up to 85mph and not exceed 1200* and that's with a tune I'm messing with so all bets are off, lol. I'll roll with these for a little bit while playing wit…

Hey Folks, Not sure what it is called, but the piece of foam in the front of the door jam. (my internet is too slow to run the parts catalog) Anyone replaced or repaired one of these when it fell out? Wondering i can use adhesive to put it back in place. My truck is already loud enough in the wind, not sure I want anything else to add to the sound. Thanks

I have an '01 3500 dually and am finding myself experiencing the occasional "death wobble" I have replaced the track bar. Need to get under there and check all the steering joints now along with the ball joints for play. If I need to replace several I would rather look into an upgrade. Been doing some reading online, apparently there was a factory option for heavy duty steering? Which was a T steering setup? If not, what would be a direct bolt on T setup? I don't really want to have to change the taper on the knuckles or do any mods if not required. Just curious what my options are. Thanks in advance.

Got in the truck the other day to go to town, and when I get to the end of the driveway the brake pedal goes straight to the floor, no resistance at all. Good thing I'm used to downshifting coming to a stop. Anyway, get the thing back home and the master cylinder's empty, and no sign of a leak anywhere. I had last driven it three weeks prior with no problems. Refilled master cylinder, worked the brakes, and refilled again, let sit. Checked two days later, refilled master, checked for evidence of leak and found nothing. As it sits right now, I've got about a quart of fluid into it, very spongy pedal, ( I know I have to bleed them) and still no evidence of a leak anywh…

Well it happened wrecked my 01. It bent the front part of the frame under the rad. support. Hopefully I have a guy with a frame straightener to the rescue, this will be the second time this part of the frame will be straightened. Im sure it is weak and gonna be even weaker but I have no choice but to fix it. My biggest question is where to find motor mounts? The impact ripped the left mount, I find mounts with no dampeners in them and never the same brand. Looking to buy them all together. Am I missing something here?

So.. my truck has been down about a month now waiting on this new track bar. I get it in and get to installing it this am and I'm freaking the **** out right now.. does anyone have one and have pictures of it installed? Am I supposed to drill anything? This thing came with no instructions and the install docs on the website don't open and the video they have is highly unhelpful besides adding review content. I have a bolt that doesn't fit in any hole on the bracket and it doesn't even feel like it lines up (maybe 1/4" off after putting in the ball joint bolt with sleeve.

I have just finally resealed the Hydroboost on my truck only had the seal kit for most of this year, MOT (our yearly check) is overdue so as it was leaking and that would be a fail I decided nows the time. The reseal went ok, had to cut the rod as it's a staked item, I was going to make a threaded joiner on my lathe but decided against that as the inner bore of the input seals are tiny compared to the rod they have to be fitted over to get to their grooves and didn't want sharp threads incase I had to ever reaseal again, anyway thats all done and rod welded back together. Question is has anyone got a picture of the accumulator looking right in it, speci…

Auto parts store I've done business with for 20 years doesn't carry AC Delco anymore. Napa is the only thing worth a damn around here now. Whats your thoughts on Napa ball joints?

  19. Started by Doubletrouble,

I recently had the parking brake hang up a little while leaving for work in the morning. I know the cable from the left rear wheel is in bad shape, outer casing is bunched up and looks to be the culprit. I would like to just replace both cables going to the rear wheels. They aren't very expensive on RA but there are so many I'm not entirely sure which ones to order. Am I going to have to measure the cables since there seems to be different lengths? There also seems to be a cut off, parts must have changed after 7/00. Mine was built 2/00 so I at least figured that part out. Truck should be in the sig but just in case it's a 2001 (man. Date of 2/00 ) ram 3500 quad ca…

So I want to get rid of factory speakers, but this one has the premium audio. So by chance does anyone know if I try to get another set of new 2.0ohm for the (non oem) speaker will it work? Or do I need to gut the doors & rewire? Next it has the heated + power mirrors But there little, anyone know if a plug and play mirrors works ? [Ive ordered mirrors before offline and none of the included studs have ever worked :P]
