  3. Salmon River Rural Fire Dept got a upgraded fire truck. This is a Oshkosh from a military base. Powered by a Cummins Big Cam 400. Strange enough right around the 40 to 45 MPH speed this beast get a death wobble pretty good. The fire chief and I took it into town to load it with water and see if water weight helps. Kind of but still there. The driver side tie rod end is rather sloppy (possibly) and the tire is cupping on the inside from possibly being toed out. I suggested on just replacing both and if any slack is found and have it aligned up again. Beyond the fact is a military fire truck this thing is set up rather weird where the cab is a wide …

Figured I should start another thread about reloading to keep things seperate. I believe @AH64ID said heused berger bullets? what has brought you to them? I am currently using hornady eld-x for my hunting rounds, but I have heard a lot about bergers. Berger is pretty proud of their stuff though $$

Bought a tank of fuel today and I open the hood to look and check the oil. This what I find. Going to coolant babies at at any moment. Auto Zone 1/4 mile away has one. Go down and get it and not one pair of channel locks for the spring clamps. Hey I am at AZ, free loaner tools and they dont have any either. Managed to get them off with the tools at hand. Grab what I thought was a jug of 50/50 mix of coolant and out pours 2 stroke oil. Only pored a couple table spoons and figure I'll fill it with water and flush out when get home. Me nor AZ have anything to put water in, so the manager gave me a gallon of 50/50 mix for free. Cant beat that. Got yall …

  10. As of last night I've started my own shop in Pollock Idaho. I've been taking to people about the lack mechanic shops in the area. Then a guy I've know that has a 3 bay shop already he's will to make a business agreement where I get to use his shop for a percentage of the profits. So far this is a work in progress and nothing is set in gold yet but working towards how we both would like to see things happen. I will have one bay with a 8,000 pound two post lift and then two other flat ground bays to work from. Floors are heated in the winter time, and A/C (swap cooler) during the summer. I've got to give the owner a hand moving some stuff to storage but he's agreed to clean…

  12. I have a gut feeling that with what is happening in the auto industry these days that the old cars, being a lot of them are already valuable, are now going to go thru the stratosphere hitting astronomical prices. I'm talking the kind of money you can retire on. Even 70's 80's vintage are going to be in greater demand. Watch over your second gen truck.... nice ones are only starting to go up in price. That's my thoughts or my jet fuel coffee........Mopar Man drinks 90 weight with 5 spoons sugar lol

I want to bring up something that i think is rather weird. Majority of people here are quick to make changes to there truck and ditch OEM stuff. For the 2nd Gen 24V the OEM lift pump is removed and upgraded to FASS, AirDog or mechanical pump. Stock OEM injectors pull out and aftermarket oversized injectors installed. Then the Factory ECM tune is ditched for Quadzilla, Smarty, Edge, etc. Why in the heck does any one want to hold so dearly to a thermostat, water pump or a fan clutch that MUST be OEM? First off if you do your research Moprar and Cummins don't make very many parts. Like the last blow up over a thermostat. There is only a small handfu…

Catching up on yard work today and trimming hedges. Trimming the 2 on the end of the house as I do every year. On the secod one I am going at it and noice a burning sensation my hand and kept going. Then I felt in my shoe. Look at my hand there the sob is pumping venom. I look further and see one on my leg and 4 on shorts stinging the crap out them. I beat a hasty retreat, think I got them off and goin the house. While standing at the kitchen sink I spot 2 more on clothes and pull my shoe off and 2 fly out. So I spend the next 10 minutes hunting yellow jackets and dispatching them. The whole time the wife never woke up from her nap. That was good for me because I c…

Payed 200. This one needs a water pump. Tonight I got it tore down motor mount off and ready to yank timing belt and water pump reinstall new. This car is in surprisingly good shape. It's not a tdi just the normal gas 2.0 120k on odometer runs decent. We payed 2500 for our tdi jetta this one seems to be in overall alittle better shape. Wish it was easy to work on like our trucks. Tomorrow should be going back together
