Went on a road trip to Yellowstone this month. It took me 2½ days to drive from SoCal to the Fishing Bridge campground, about 1,100 mi. Stayed 5 days taking in the sights and probably could have stayed another 5 if I had the time. There is so much to see and the people working the visitor centers, stores, and campground were as nice as could be. I think that was because we got there the 8th of May which was the first day the park was open for the summer season. There were no crowds and the help wasn't burned out. We went out the south entrance and right into the Grand Teton National Park. Another gem in our National Park catalog. The valley is flat and wide and offers gr…

This the first year that I have not seen any honey bees. Kind weird. Is there a reason for them to be completely gone in one area and then still be around in another town?

When I first built my small cabin I stained it for color then applied teak oil. After the teak oil, I mixed 50 50 paint thinner and exterior varnish. The thought was varnish would be thin enough to do a good soaking into the wood grain and not cause a pealing flaking problem in the future, requiring the need for excessive work on sanding and refinishing10 years down the road. However, after talking with a log home inspector, he told me that if he finds a log home that has been varnished that he would turn down the entire sale of the property and should never, ever varnish a log home. That moisture gets under the varnish and starts rotting the logs with mold. W…

I rely on various step stools & seats to save me precious minutes on my feet. But lately I've broken a good plastic folding stool... my fault & was pushing back on it to reach something & it couldn't take the diagonal pressure. And I'm no light weight, either. I've noticed a reasonably nice aluminum step stool at Harbor Freight... http://www.harborfreight.com/step-stool-working-platform-66911.html but the latest ads were still higher than I wanted to pay. ($29.99 off a "list price" of $34.99... no one should pay list at HF) I Googled "Harbor Freight step stool" and came up with http://www.retailmenot.com/coupons/stepstool which showed a coupon code 85…

I was just informed of this tidbit of information about Salmon River Rural Fire Department. I was listening to the Fire Chief talk about ground we cover. We cover 67 miles of the canyon floor plus 12 miles on either side of the main highway. Then you have to cover all the side roads leading away from the main highway and 12 miles of either side of that road. So, Salmon River Rural is the biggest fire department for coverage in the state of Idaho. Then we rank 5thin the nation for size of district. We have 6 fire station scattered along the canyon from Pinehurst Station #1, White Water Wilderness Ranch #2, Rapid River #3, Lucile #4, Slate Creek #5, White Bird #6. Each sta…

(10 years ago roughly) Well I got to a story to tell. About 10 years ago I was over a friend house. He was digging through a drawer in the kitchen looking for something and he spun around... "Hey you need a cell phone take this one." At the time I wasn't a big cell phone fan but for free why not? So I grabbed the cell phone and charger cord. In the next few days I go out and bought some time for it and tried to active the phone. Come to find out it can't be done. So I called TracFone and they told me the phone was too old and would have to be replaced for FREE. Wow! So I gladly boxed up the old phone and mailed it back to TracFone and within about 2 weeks go my new ce…

http://elmelectronics.com/obdsoftware.html Since I'm looking for ways of hacking the CANBus and the CCD network for information I figure I would share my findings for software and other goodies along the way. I guess it might be time to create some articles on this so others can jump in as well. Here is the company that sells the Bluetooth dongles or WiFi dongle for (Apple products). http://www.obdlink.com/

That's what my 95 yr old grandpa always told me anyway but here's the glitch, I go in complaining about a pain in my left arm for what is commonly known as a torn rotater cuff. Told them I've had the pain for several months and only hurts when laying in bed a certain way or when lifting my arm straight up. So before seeing any doctor, without any warning they immediately place me on an EKG machine and get a bill for $750 plus the regular doctor bill. I know nothing is wrong with my heart and all the doc says is go for more tests and without warning he is done and walks out. That's it? I thought to myself.... what about my other concerns about aging...never been old before…

OK folks I know over the years folks question others driving conditions and vehicle use ect. Well as some many Know I live in and work in the country so I drive 40 miles of gravel County roads daily 4-5 days a week. It has been raining here this week on and off and I just happened to have the camera in hand yesterday and snapped some pics of my DDer 2010 1500 hemi after running my usual daily work run after ONLY a 1/4 inch of rain. It gets way worse at times. I did require 4X4 in 2 mile long stretches where they are pulling shoulders back up to the road surface so there is a lot of dirt and grass on the road top making it really slippery. It is fairly clean in these pics…

Hmm, sounds like there are a few here that are gaining interest in this hobby more and more. I figure at the very least you guys could follow me as I post up occasionally about this hobby I'm pursuing as a career. It doesn't have to be just that. Anyone else here who keeps these insects post up on the progress and include some pictures too if possible and share this with others who can't or don't keep bees! Id like to see how each of us are doing around the nation and all the factors that come into play. So, whose got them? My pictures are soon to follow. A little bit about my experience: - this is my second year of beekeeping and I picked up 2 nucs my first y…

I got a phone call from a Michael West in the McCall, Idaho area. He had question about a high idle box he had in his truck. It looks like one of the older one that a gent made over in Cummins Forum. (Can't remember the name). But we had a nice long talk about Cummins Diesels and different things. He's got a beautiful 2001 Dodge Cummins White short bed with 35" tires. Very clean. But now he wants to get into the economy mode and longevity part. So I gave him the quick lesson on diesel and tuning and how it works. Mike doesn't own a computer but he does have a smart phone. So his limited on abilities on the site hopefully he creates a account to hang out. Mike did say …

I can't believe the numbers of crowds and cars. It's like it happened over night, not like the usual yeah there is a few more around each year. It's more like all of a sudden. For instance, a 20 min. commute now takes an hour and roads are overwhelmed with traffic. Is it like that at your place?
