I would not dare point a finger at any one person when I say this, but I'm willing to bet a few of you old chaps have had these sort of experiences! Maybe it was not just from the plain simple fact of being there when it was part of the times. Maybe it was just simply from a financial standpoint, and to have any more than what we call modern, was more of just a luxury then. As I sit and think more and more daily, how I can bring myself to a more self sufficient person, I think continually about what things I do now, that was done differently in the past. My first subject matter for this thread is: An ice house! Now, I'm not typically the type that one would de…

Alright, I'm trying to figure out how to utilized the x-gauge. I looked on scangauge's website and I'm still at a loss what to do. I'm also having a hard time trying to figure out how to enter in the codes. Mike, what x-gauges do you use and how do you do it?

Had some fun at the county fair pulling my truck the other night, never really had a chance at winning anything since they decided to run the work stock and 2.5 trucks together for some reason, but I had fun so thats all that matters! http://youtu.be/5Wabab4oTiU

  8. What do you keep under your seat? Everything you need to USE a truck... I'll go first... door pockets: 4 TCW3 quart oil bottles (2 in each side), small hand tools (multi-tip screw driver, adjustable wrench, multi-tool) tire pressure guage work gloves (canvas, leather, rubber) double ended snaps handy for tie downs & tent set ups flashlight I have a plastic bin that fits under each side. I drilled the seat brackets for a short bungie to keep the stuff from sliding out on a hard stop... bungie hook had to be opened so it could go through the bracket. Front: tie down ratchet straps, bungies tow strap & anchor shackles magnetic wands …

So me and the wife had some dinner plans this evening. We get seated and just no sooner than later the wind starts whipping up and the lights start flickering. Then it happens, the power goes out! Great... the restaurant starts filing up with that great smell of smoke from the food and the waiter tells us he can't serve us any food. No use waiting in the restaurant in the dark for nothing. So we head out and eat it! Wind whooping really good, blowing power lines around and knocking trees over. Crap, it's getting real! Managed to get the two blocks to the truck and reassess the situation. Started thinking about all the power lines and trees and what to avoid. 2 out of the …

Most every knows I live up here in Idaho and most would think this far up north the summer would be rather mild. Well today when I left the shop the temp in the 1996 Dodge showed 108*F. Ugh... So what's every else seeing for temps?

  13. A little surprising fuel tidbit...... We drove most of the day south after topping off at the same fuel stop before starting, me in my Cummins second gen, my bud in his Duramax, each with our slide in campers. When we got to our destination for the day and filled up again I pulled in first and filled up and the pump shut off at $98.89. My buddy pulls into the same pump, fills up and the pump shuts off at $98.89. He's got heavier camper and 19.5 in wheels......

So, a couple days ago, me and the wife were at work. Actually we were on break at this point. The break area seemed unusually darker than normal for the time of day and year. We were going to receive a nasty storm that was blowing through the inland northwest. Lightning, wind, rain, etc. Wind gusts of up to 60-70mph is what I heard. Power got knocked out at work for a few seconds. What transpired outside the building was more than what many expected. Finally, after getting off of work, we make way home and we noticed the abnormally large amount of brush/vegetation in the road. But, when we entered the town we reside, once we passed through the last traffic light i…

The bicture is a little blurry but, so was I at 6 am I arrived here in Lexington @ 10:30 PM last night!! Yabba ran well and averaged 19.59 on first fill up @ 70mph 2250 rpm. (I normally keep it around 63-65mph and 2000rpm but I just wanted to get to my Aunt and Uncles and spend a little time with them before I go to the music festival for the week... They live 2 hours north of the venue and I won't be able to come back till Oct)

Well there has been some changes to life for me. Like I got called to do a computer job for a local mechanic to set up his OBDII scan tool with a update. While I was there I started talking shop and did a bit of diesel talk too. Needless to say he was rather impressed. Following night he calls up with a vehicle down in front of his place http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/8711-newer-ford-powerstroke/ . So I deal with it and get the owner moving on again. Now the mechanic calls me up and ask me to come in and deal with a school bus (With a Cummins 6BT) that has a charging issue. So in about 3 hours get it all figured out that its a A/C system load issue. So now…

So I have been having issues trying to use the forum for a while now, but lately it has gotten to be a real PITA. I am posting this from my phone because I can't post it from my Mac. Every time I get on the forum via the laptop, it goes to the home page, then forum page, no issues. But anything I do from there either goes to a cached version, or goes to a page that tells the the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, this sometimes occurs when a server is busy, wait a few minutes and try again." Even if it goes to a cached version, it will go to the other on the next click, and I'm toast after that. I can start over but it's the same result. This is an internet …

Mike, saw that you called tonight. Was at work, like usual, lol. Must have seen I left you a message. Got it figured out. I guess I got on the skinny pedal too much and hit some good boost. Blew the intercooler boot after the turbo. Not the typical sound I was expecting to hear so I was somewhat distraught by it. Had a hissing rapid decompression type noise, lol. Got it fixed though. 11mm socket! ..time to buy the newer better boots to prepare for my turbo swap...
