Friend of mine (Andrew), got a hold of me Thursday night and mention that he wanted go out horn hunting. I jumped at the chance to get out for the first time in the spring. Hiked in roughly 5 miles into French creek and set up camp. I was bit too wore out by then and opted to hang at the camp. I spent the better part of the day gathering firewood and keeping the home fires going. Had a wonderful time up there that night, rocked out to misuc, food and good company. Then the next morning we woke up at 6:30am MDT. Still dim lit and got a fire started and got breakfast going. Just as we got breakfast and got eating the snow started to fall. We were up around 4,030 ft accordin…

Just thought I'd toss this out there. We need to have some more articles written with pics if possible on maintenance, mods and whatever else we may do to our trucks. I know it's not always convenient to do this, I'm guilty in skipping it myself. Sometimes it's cold out or we're just in a time crunch and have to get it done. Been there to. We would like to see more of the how to stuff because it seems there is always a better way or at least another way to get things done. The more the better, what is good for one may not be for someone else. I recently installed a 5th wheel hitch in my truck and will attempt to take some pics and do a write up…

My Metal Detector has those typical button type disconnects to unlock the tubing and fit the sections into a smaller carry bag. However, the bottom section with the coil has a much longer carbon fiber tube attached making it impossible to get inside a reasonably sized carry bag. So without any carbon fiber knowledge I cut the tubing just above the male connector and split the tubing off the connector. Thinking I can simply slide the cut end back onto the male connector and use two quick release pins whenever I need to break it down to store it in the carry bag. I realized finally it's best to use non metallic hardware to fasten the sensing coil and carbon fiber tube toget…

I've got to ask other members here, "what your are seeing for winter weather?" Here in Central Idaho we've seen snow storm blow over but not drop much snow in the valley floor. The mountains around me are dusted in snow. Nothing deep once again. The temperature has dropped to 24*F above. Everything is frosted this morning and cold. Now I've talked to a friend down in the Parma area and he's had already a good 2 to 3 inches of snow but next day melted off.

This may get long, but I'll try to limit it. I swear, everytime I see the news or just pay attention to what's happening, I get so aggravated. I won't even get into my thoughts on the federal government. I don't even know where to start..... Our governor in Illinois, J.B.Pritsker, was on a news clip the other day, saying anyone in politics that has bought their way in, or used their political power to enrich themselves or others need to go...... OK, fine upstanding viewpoint.... Does he not remember that it was HIM on the phone with BLAGOJEVICH, trying to buy the Illinois senate seat vacated by Obama when he got elect…

With pain at the pump paying an added 30 % isn't the best thing for RVr's like myself, but I have to say, one good effect will be the uncrowded campgrounds this year. Tho just a possibility, it will be interesting to see if the crowds do go down.

We got back from our 5 day Finland / Lapland trip at 8.10pm last night after a 2 hour drive from Heathrow airport to home. Bearing in mind we don't get snow here in the UK much now. Plane from Heathrow to Helsinki took 3hrs 55mins, flew over Denmark which we are visiting in May for my brother in laws 70th who has lived in Denmark for over 40 years. Transfer at Helsinki to Ivalo airport which was over an hour then an hour coach to Kakslautenen in Finnish Lapland all the time heading north into the artic circle, arrived at around 8.30pm. was dark but realised there was nothing but pine forests with real log cabin buildings, some of the logs were 2ft ac…

He texted me back the other night to tell me that his wife's mother died at 92. It is a huge loss to the family because she was the best kind of person. Just a very cool lady in many ways. It's a great loss to his wife and him too. To add to that Dripley goes to start his truck to start another new Chic-Fil-A building and his truck has a bad ECM, won't start. I hope he gets it fixed soon not a problem too much. I am also sorry to hear about his cool mother in law, who passed away recently. That's always hard on the wife.

Was there someone here that has a transport company called Blue Angel Transport? The name rings a bell with me but I can't remember why. I think it was here, but I'm probably completely wrong. Saw the truck and flatbed in Spring Grove, Illinois today and it's making me crazy trying to remember.

I've got awesome news. I've been doing some thinking. I've got a buddy that works for a single billionaire doing all the landscaping for his 104 acre property. Well after a bit of talking to my buddy about a week later I ended up with a job interview with the property manager. Needless to say I aced the interview. I've been given 2 weeks to get my truck in order and finish my other jobs. I've already bought 2 toolboxes for Thor. My job for the owner will to be to maintain all vehicles and equipment for the owner. This includes ATVs, tractors, lawn mowers, any vehicles left on the property. The property manager wants me fully mobile and he'll pay for fuel and travel.

Just to show off my custom addon to my desktop. Something Windows can't do at all but Linux can do. I can monitor in real time my server which is up near Michigan. Completely remote server compared ot me in Idaho. I can display the amount of RAM used, swap space, CPU loads. This program is called Conky. You can write your own scripts to display any information you want to the desktop. You can even tweak it so a side panel is never covered like my older script did. No matter what you did with a window it wouldn't cover the display. This go around I left it a normal desktop that does cover. Nice part I can see anyone that logs into the server display even the ho…

I've noticed these "solder seal" wire connectors and wondered if anyone on here have used them and what they think of them. They're the butt connectors with low temp solder inside. No soldering iron needed, just a heat gun. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Any interest? In my younger days I used to enjoy the summer/winter games. Now, I really don't care. I lost interest when politics started showing up on the podium from the athletes. It's bad enough when countries try to use the Olympics as a political statement, (U.S. boycott on Russia) but when the athletes use it for their political views, it cheapens it to the point of me not caring. The Olympics to me should be for athletes doing the best humanly possible in competition against other athletes from around the world. Politics be Damned! Just my opinion, what's yours?

Came across a 1st Gen Cummins on Ebay UK if only I didn't use my truck for work I'd get shut and dive in on a 1st gen https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165303643861?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D19b89403208a48dd8c26652589ff7a0a%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D183621570250%26itm%3D165303643861%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aaa30c046-8370-11ec-94f8-5275ed8b2457|parentrq%3Ab5d3860a17e0a6451a09d8ecfff0e9ea|iid%3A1

Sent DAP 2600.00 in love in a day. Ive been taking this stock new to me truck and just getting it all over with at one time. Man it just keeps adding up, soon I will be able to get in it and go coast to coast free of worries of break downs. It's fun to to see it come along too, the guy that had it put new tires, and interior, dash, new stereo that I'll never listen to unless its am talk show.

Get yourself a decent enough place away from towns and cities. Not too big of a house but, a good enough shop that you can do most all your own work. Build up tools too. Got to go Power going out any min.
