It finally happened... The Edge Comp has been removed from my truck and replaced with Quadzilla Adrenaline...

Ok let me back up and tell a bit of the story here. First off I've got to say thank you to several people. @Me78569 for coming for with a crazy idea that will benefit everyone. @Quadzilla Power for sending me the Quadzilla Adrenaline.

What is happening is @Quadzilla Power and @Me78569 figure I'm one of the few big MPG guys out there and would be awesome if the Quadzilla could possibly put me higher on my MPG high mark. So in end result, Quadzilla would have another platform of advertising at the angle of MPG's as well. As for Mopar1973Man.Com we would hold the article for how I got to my new high mark of MPG giving us the internet traffic. More or less a win, win for both sides.

So out of respect for @dieselautopower (Owner of Quadzilla) and @Quadzilla Power for the module you now see their banners on the site.

Now on to the learning curve of Quadzilla tuners and been bouncing back and forth between @Me78569 and @Quadzilla Power for tech support and understanding of different things. I'll also be helping out with drivers but seeing if the "Linux people" can safely update over VirtualBox.

As for first impression of the Quadzilla comparing to Edge Comp. Way more power. I've posted several of my OBDLink screen shots with roughly 400 HP and 1000 FT/LBS of torque. First run with Quadzilla wide open buried my Torque gauge at 1,200 FT/LBS and past that. HP was right around 440 HP. This is about right when you math out the mods (235+50+180=465 HP) as compared to Edge Comp (235+50+120=405). This is just right out of the box setup and running @Me78569 custom tune he built for me based on his current tune he's running. So after cleaning up the code as I learn I'll get more of the power out of it. Right now comparing the smoke between Quadzilla and Edge Comp there is way less with @Me78569 current tune. So that explains why the power is a bit short yet. So with the help of @Me78569 I'll get this tune cleaned up and working better.

So now on to the goal of attempting to beat the MPG high mark now.

As for photos I'm too shy to take a picture of my install as of yet bit roughly installed in a hurry and want to clean it up before showing off. Also have a wild idea on install change I want to attempt to do being I like to power wash my engine a lot and also want the module easy access for flashing new tunes. (More to come here).

    Recomplied...

  • Let's say a typical truck gets 17mpg. Let's say the quad bumps the mileage by 2mpg. Let's say fuel is nice and cheap, $2.15 Remember, the more expensive fuel is the faster it's going to pay for i

Yes I can. With the blankets it takes a little longer.

My current turbo is water cooled but it will get that cool on a 100° day too. I have pre/post pyros and am amazed how much longer it takes post to cool off. I go for 350° post on shutdown now. It's not uncommon to see 275° pre and 550° post after a min of idling after a tow.

Yea if I wanted to get my turbo numbers down to 250-275, I'd be idling for 5-10 minutes easy, and I don't even see temps near 100*. Only time my EGTs are that low are on startup before I've driven or applied any throttle.

It would be pretty hard for me to hit 275, maybe impossible to hit 250....sometimes I have to wait a solid couple minutes just to get my needle a touch below 300....that's what I usually aim for.

Mine will come down to 275* but I have never shot for that. I shoot for 350 sometimes 375 and shut it down. If I am towing it takes a little while. But when I am stopping for fuel or any other reason I just slow it down and take it easy down the ramp or into the rv park or just let it idle when I park and check in. I dont seem to have to wait long to get the temp down. When I bought the truck one of the service techs took a little time with me to explain turbo cool down and a few other things with me since it was my first diesel. It was appreciated.

One thing I wish I would have known a long time ago is about play in the turbo. I never checked mine till after joining here with over 225k on the truck. I checked it then and had no play, axial or in and out. I still have no play to this day. I can flick the wheel with my finger and it spins several revs but dont know how many it should spin. I guess I am still some what ignorant about these things. Not really sure how much that has to do with anything just thought I would put it out there.

So currently with the app u can still change tunes and settings just not load custom tunes

?

Correct. It like loads parameters randomly causing smoke puffs and sometimes surging.

It's the old tunes from many years ago. They are powerful, but also very dirty.

My injectiors don't really clean up any way:whistle:if I want it to drive clean it will but but it still hazes but I drive like a Grandma 90 precent of the time

Ah, the life of DDP I guess haha!

Meh could be worst there's no emissions testing where I live and I don't smoke out intersections so I'm happy with it I got power on tap and nice throttle response I'm hoping with quad I can cut 90 precent if smoke out

Just did a few legs of our honeymoon trip, cabover camper loaded and doing 55 most of the way always on lvl3

first leg was pure highway but with 30-50 mph headwinds......sucked, but still managed to get 13.4 mpg.

Next leg the wind let up mostly, very little flat ground, mostly hills and increasing and decreasing speeds from 35 to 55 mph, 14.6 mpg.

Most recent leg was a lot flatter and much less wind,  mostly 55 mph and netted 16.7 mpg.

I need to find a walmart or somplace that sells a pool noodle to jam between the cab and the camper to try and keep air from getting jammed in there.

I am not complaining in the least bit.

Anyone want to see TM at work?

Run1.PNG

Note the far right field in yellow.   Looks like 25 mph is the magic number for TM.  You can see the ecm commanding fuel at 4-8 mph that is normal, then it gets cut, even though TP shasn't changed, then once 25 mph is reached fueling is allowed.

guess what.......we can override TM without much hassle.  Give me a little time to do some comparing to my truck's fueling message offidle and I will get something in place to negate TM.

This may have already been answered. If I have V1 on my quad what would it take to get V2?

Just wait for the beta test to finish then you flash the new tune and run the new vehicle profile on the iquad.

Would I have to send it back to DAP to get it flashed for the new tune when it becomes available?

No tunes can be flashed on your own computer.

I think I asked this already but I can't find it to verify but......

Can you apply these custom tunes to the xzt module? Obviously the fuel tap tunes and turbo timer type stuff is off the table but any canbus tuning and non-wire tap stuff, could that be custom tuned with all this new software? Or if anything, is it on the table for future upgrades?

Not xzt plans at this point since there is no interface device to tune with.
