I'm using gates from geno's but only put 4k since I put it on. Heard good things about it, there is an article by geno's I belive comparing gates to Cummins.

I put one on from parts store about around 260k ago. Don't remember which one. Just used whatever was on their shelf. I just replaced it when I did front seal a gear case reseal. Looked like it was just starting to weep so just replaced it. The replacement last as long as the oe.

A buddy has about the same cycle rate on part store pumps lol.

I tell myself it is just a maintence plan to ensure I flush my coolant yearly....

Still haven't killed my OEM water pump yet. 322k miles and counting...

I only had 160k on my original but had everything apart and decided to put new one on, but I put original in a box and under seat just in case.

Did you ever try the ever expensive Cummins water pump?

I am on 3rd one.  All cummins on 2001 with only 88k on clock.  I wonder if low use might be my problem?  All 3 still worked but leaked.

Still original hoses though. Hoses are 18 years old now

I remember an article long time ago for my Honda Goldwing where silicate coolants would damage the water pump seal and cause the water pump to weep out the hole. As for me I've been using WalMart SuperTech or Prestone Coolant mixed 50/50 before loading the engine. Like I'm going to be due for a coolant change soon being all the miles I've racked up. Still no coolant leaks on my truck or water pump issues.

I am begging to think any silica bad.  Silica equals sand.  Arm and hammer tooth paste,  now have to use the prescription tooth paste until worn down gum grows back.  Chemical is si02. Used in auto glass to beach sand.

My gum  oem no longer around for replacement.

well the job is done,  parts store lifetime warrant reciept saved so next year I can take it to them and replace it for free.

Wow that's rather shocking...

Guess you could say it "Rubbed" me the wrong way:mad:

Have not had to replace mine yet. Now Dad's 09 went at around 45k and I put a NAPA in. Dad's gone and sold the truck at 65k so I don't know how it held up.
