Posted February 10, 201213 yr ive been seeing on here alot of people running a BHAF. what exactly is this, what are the advantages of running one? sorry if this is a dumb question but i havent ever heard of this
February 10, 201213 yr Its a Big Honkin Air Filter! Heres an article all about it, take a look! http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/24-air-system/41-bhaf-big-honkin-air-filter -Jordan-
February 10, 201213 yr Author :thankyou:i didnt see on here about if it has good effects on a truck thats chipped with say a smarty. is it better than a cold air kit?
February 10, 201213 yr Unless you plan on putting some serious horse power on the road a BHAF is more than suffecient. With what i have on my truck I dont believe a cold air in take is going to make enough differance to be worth the money. the BAHF will flow enough air for 3000 to 400 HP maybe more. someone here will correct me if i am wrong on the stated HP. I dont think that would be high on my list of mods. To many other good things out there that wil really make a differance in performance.
February 10, 201213 yr Author ok thanks it seem itd be much mor cost effe ctive for a bhaf in staed of spending $300 on a cold air kit when i could put that mony in to a fass or airdog so i can runn a smarty
February 10, 201213 yr The problem with the compromises to plumb the CAI... can mean a smaller filter. The air flow is more important than the temperature.

February 10, 201213 yr Author i did see on the artical on here the napa part number but it also gave a couple diff napa numbers which on would go directly on my truck from napa
February 10, 201213 yr Owner All right here... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/24-air-system/41-bhaf-big-honkin-air-filter
February 10, 201213 yr When I was still new to my truck I put I CAI on it and now looking back i wish i would have gone BHAF and may switch to it eventually.-Jordan-
February 10, 201213 yr the things i have found with a BHAF compared to a k&n or stock filter are theseturbo spools just a tad fasterthe massive surface area of the bhaf means that less air velocity per square inch=less crap to stick to the filter elementnice whistle tooi can shake my bhaf and nothing sticks to it cause the air velocity into the filter isnt enough to pull stuff in like the stocker.
February 10, 201213 yr Author napa # 2790 got it :thumb1:ill be cheackin in to one when im do a filter again. how are y guys securing them to the finder well or are you just letting the set there
February 10, 201213 yr i took some 1/4 rubber hose and covered the screws that the oem box screwed to and they stuck up about an inch past the screws. the filter just sits there on 3 points of soft contact with no issues for me.
February 11, 201213 yr I am running a napa 6637, it is just a little smaller and a little cheaper.Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
February 11, 201213 yr I also am running the napa 6637. I made a bracket and hooked it to an exhisting bolt on the inside of the fender. Instead of a hole I made a slot (where it bolts to the fender) so all I have to do is loosen the bolt and the bracket slides off the bolt (upward) and stays attached to the filter. It takes two minutes to remove the filter now.
February 11, 201213 yr The smaller one has a smaller surface area but I'm sure it will work just as good. Throw a Outwears pre filter on it, help make it last longer and repel some water that might splash on it
