I have been lurking on here for a while and just recently decided to sign up since I have learned so much on here, so this is my first post.Thanks to Mike and others on here-what a great site.I bought my 2001 XC 4x4 Auto the end of July and have been doing some work on it. It had 96,000 miles. This is what I have done.Installed MoparMan's puke bottle fixInstalled gauges-fuel pressure, egt, boost, transmission tempChanged all the fluids/filters and was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the tranny pan.Installed the '08.5 and up steering kit from Mopar since I had a slack in a couple of tie rods.Alligned and balancedInstalled a FASS 95 with new lines to the OEM filter. Brought my pressure from 12 to 18 at idle and 7 to 12 at WOT.I have a Superchip Cortex that came with the truck and it is set on performance tow. I have some learning to do on the programmer. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.I have some slop in the steering gearbox and a little play in the lower right ball joint. These are on my list after I get the valves ckecked and adjusted.I need to slow down since I think the wife is onto me.What am I missing?Sorry to hijack this thread, but tried to start my own and I couldn't get it to work.I only tow around 7000#'s right now and travel in the Colorado mountains quite regular.

You might do a power steering fluid flush and then tighten the sector adjustment on the steering box to take up a bit of slop. But it depends on how wore out the box is too. If you decide to adjust the sector adjustment I would do it a little at a time 1/4 turn and test drive.

Also check for slop in the rag joint comming from the column to the box.Ed

On the steer box adjust. Be sure the box is centered. Same number of turns of the wheel, Hard right to center, and hard left to center. The box has a tight spot and adj screw should be snug at dead center. If wheels are not straight at this point, tie rods need to be adjusted to make them straight. I am saying this because you never know what the previous owner did.

I'd also check blinker fluid, muffler bearings and the flux capacitor. I have always followed Mike's advice and run synthetic blinker fluid. You just don't get that many blinks out of non synthetic fluid. OEM muffler bearings are good for 100K miles. The flux capacitor either works or it doesn't. You'll know next time you go 88mph.
