so it was sooner or later that my master cylinder for the clutch would start to leak from having a stronger pressure plate installed with the valair clutch. i didnt have the funds to swap it out but now i have to and will get parts from somewhere soon. anyone have any suggestions?

I bought mine from Advance Auto. Dont remember brand or part #. I just asked for one that fit my truck and put that one on. I have the valair clutch and I think 3800# pressure plate for 2.5 years with no leaks so far. You definitely feel the difference between the oe and the Valair, especially stuck in traffic.

I would go for the southbend hd setup over the valair. I heard valair adapts the 1st gen trucks hydro's to our trucks rather than making an actual hd setup. It could be bs though.

yeah the feather is very narrow but the clutch holds like glue!

gave south bend a call and for $325 for pn HYD-X-1.50 98'-02' brian said the bores are larger on both ends and has a steel braided line/ adjustable shaft. the valair from another place is about $280

I got a Valair set up from DAP. I think its a good quality kit and it came prebled. Here is the part number NMU70HYD-02. The only thing is I had to reuse my old clutch safety switch and I think the South bend one comes with a new switch. My kit was about $280.

I have used both and have had no problems with either one. The southbend was built better, but I don't know if its worth the extra money

at one time Valair and SBC were sourcing them from the same place.... not sure if they are currently.

I'm also a stock hydro's with a Soutbend Con OFE disc and no issues here. Solid hook up and very good control.

Go with the SBC hydraulics. I was running OEM with my OFE for a while and had very intermittent issues, the SBC fixed most of them.

x2 here also. Almost 6 years with the SB Con OFE on Mighty Whitey.
